Great video. Never seen this done. Highlights just one of the steps your taxidermist does when preparing your mount.

Very nice when you get close with camera, alot of us watch on iPad/ iPhones the screens are small, when you get up close we can really see what you cutting. I LOVE your showing us how!!! Thank you so much!!

Thanks dude. We do a good bit of hunting out of state . It has become necessary for a few of us in my hunting party to learn how to do this . I’m perfecting my skill on this . Thanks for the demo.

Just watched this along with the skinning video. Would love too see a video of the next step with preparing and tanning the hide for mount. Especially interested in what is done with the ears after this point.
Great video and format. Keep it up.

Learned the screw driver trick doing euro mounts. Really pops the hide right out of the base of antlers.

If/when the opportunity arises, could you do a video on skinning the deer when still on the body? I tried it once and butchered the arm pits!! Now I'm nervous about doing it on my own. Maybe point out some tricks of the trade if you will so when we bring a hide to the taxidermist, we don't bring a butchered hide lol. This was an awesome video with great info!

Hey Jake, what measurements would you recommend we capture and give to you before we start caping out the deer?

Your taxidermist will be able to get measurements from the hide, no need in getting them before you cape it out

I learned a trick from a taxidermist to get antlers aligned with the form. Before cutting measure tips of antlers to the to the nose. Then when you go to put it on the form you know how the antlers line up with the nose.

Why do you not take A,B,C measurements?

Does this hurt the deer? Because I dont want to hurt the deer.
