Love that you are traveling with your mom. Enjoy it while you can. My mom used to travel with me all the time (my kids played in golf tournaments in the summer) and she loved it. She hasn’t traveled since 2021, and it’s hard for her to get enough energy to handle all that goes into travel. I miss those times.
Love to hear your feedback on some of the items you purchased for your trip. Luckily you’re flying from NYC and not SFO, I could not handle that trip in economy. Looking forward to your posts.

EEK!! I’m so excited for you! I know you’re already in Madrid as per Insta and I am soooo jelly!! I am going to keep for a reference all of the things you’ve mentioned for the flight. I’ll be anxious to hear your thoughts on them when you come home. It’s too bad that thieves can ruin a person’s vacay. If my phone should ever get stolen, I would be hooped. My whole life is in my phone. The lanyard is an absolute must! I will be patiently awaiting your travel vlogs! ✈️

In Barcelona, be aware in Ramblas, barrio gótico area with pick pockets...pick pockets have a radar for tourists everywhere ( when I travel abroad, I'm become a target too).
In Sevilla the weather is very hot, drink so much water.

We are leaving Sunday for London and Barcelona. We are wearing compression socks for the longer flight, which is the London flight.
Those are always a good idea. I wore them last year on my trip but didn’t like the way they felt (which I know is the point). I didn’t have any issues on the flight to Madrid, but I agree that they are recommended. Enjoy your trip!!
Lisa, this packing video is so helpful! Your explanation of the difference between adapters and converters was really useful-I’ve had voltage issues before. The portable charger and Bluetooth adapter recommendations look perfect for long trips. 😊
The anti-theft gear and RFID pouch are great ideas, especially for places with higher pickpocketing rates. I also love the tray table organizer; it seems like it will make traveling so much more convenient!

Good list, esp. the phone lanyard, even at home. I got "Apple-picked" at home in Toronto when I was distracted looking at my phone. Fellow took it right out of my hand, ran around the corner and poof, it was gone. I now never look at my phone on the street. As a Loewe-lover, I'm curious if you'll be going to the Loewe at the Bicester La Roca, about an hour by bus out of Barcelona? I've never been....it's on my list if I ever get to Barcelona.
How scary Cathy! We won’t have time to go to the outlet. My daughter was just there in the beginning of April and she said there was nothing there. We have one at Woodbury commons. I’ve been twice and have not found anything unfortunately. But I think all the outlets are very hit or miss. You never know when you’ll get lucky!

We are flying from London to Miami in the autumn and it’ll be an overnight flight home.
International airfares are rising in price like other luxury items. Since 2020, flying from Phoenix to Heathrow in late October, Premium Economy fare costs what Business Class used to cost; Business Class fare has doubled; and, Economy is about the same. So, am very interested in your reviews of the ‘comfort’ items you bought as, yes, will be flying Economy later this year. Worse still, UK no longer offers VAT Refunds and Duty Free only applies to alcohol and tobacco - I know, I know - First World Problems!!
I’ll definitely do an update video. And I think it’s horrible for the UK economy that they got rid of their VAT. It’s why I didn’t buy anything there in September. Everything I purchased was from Paris. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Ok, what's with Americans, you're not the first video I've watched saying this, saying European cities are pick pocket hot spots? Isn't the risk just as high in New York City? 🤷🏼♀️ have a fab trip. Off to Spain for 2.5 weeks soon. Love Spain.
I can tell you that our guide on the tour gave us a 15 minute lecture about all of the different ways the pick pockets work. She said it’s horrible is Spain. As for nyc, I don’t worry at all. Maybe others do but I don’t really unless I’m on a very crowded subway. Then I just make sure my purse is very close to my body. Hope you have an amazing trip!
@luxuryandlifeinthemiddle we've been in Spain nearly yearly for over 20 years & never been pick pocketed. Neither in London either. In any big city, its sensible to take precautions. Every American travel/packing video I've watched re Europe, go on about pick pocketing in Europe. 🤷🏼♀️ I guess it's standing out as a tourist that puts us at risk.
I’m from the UK too and I consider Barcelona a ‘high risk for pickpockets’ destination. It’s rife and I know plenty of people who’ve had their stuff pinched including my Dad.
Rest of Spain- absolutely fine.
I think it’s more the fact that pickpockets like to target tourists because they’re easier targets.
And they can often tell by the way you dress whether you’re a tourist or not. Also tourist are more distracted admiring the sights so are not as aware of a pickpocket near them.
I live in Australia and I mostly hear of people being pickpocketed in Rome but did have a Singaporean friend whose sister caught a pickpocketer with their hands literally in her pants pocket in Barcelona. Also I was in Paris waiting for the Bastille day parade and saw a pickpocketer assessing each person in the crowd and his eyes stopped the longest whenever there was a person carrying a backpack.
It’s always good to take precautions especially in any big city. The only big city I felt safe from pickpockets was Tokyo and Japan in general.
@WyeChengChong-ql7lr excellent points. And our guide was talking about the different types. Some focus on people getting money out of ATMs, people who come up to you and try to ask you questions or for directions and put things in your face, etc.
