  • Steven, 38, has been an addict for 20 years. He said: “It’s a progressive illness. It didn't happen overnight. I didn't wake up one morning and think, I'm going to be an addict or an alcoholic. It just happened. It’s cunning, baffling, and powerful. If you’re so broken and alone and isolated, go see SDAS because they don't judge you. They're good people, they will help you. It's not easy to change, but they just support me.”
Steven has shared his ongoing journey to recovery after he sought help from Somerset Drugs and Alcohol Service (SDAS), commissioned by Somerset Council. He hopes that by sharing his ongoing story about how working with the service is changing his life, it will help give others hope and to feel less alone.
