Yes, we do need to self-audit...but not forgetting that whatever you consume many someones have done a lot work to put food on their dining table. It's a chain...however, the exorbitant profits made are very questionable!

Thank you, Valerie! Another great episode! I think that a plus of Carto absolutely is reducing waste of perfume ingredients. Having purchased my own ingredients and made attempts at a personal organ -- raw materials and all the lab materials, as you know, are quite expensive. So much was wasted on so many mistakes!
Carto, while I was skeptical at first about it perhaps whittling away at creativity, I now see as a data aggregator of known ratios of common accords that help along an individual's creativity without sacrificing too much of the precious Egyptian jasmine oil picked at great human expense. And it is up to the individual, of course, whether they want to deviate from these known ratios and create something new!

Yes exactly! I love that you tinker around yourself, and it's so true that the liquid handler in Carto allows for minimal use of materials, the final product looks like 3-5 ml from a rough guess because it can be so precise! What's your favourite material?

@@thenichesampler In terms of favorite smells, rose. Pragmatically, patchouli and vetiver for their sheer versatility. ;)

I love this. Made me feel like it was me who went on a trip with Givaudan 😂 I always wanted to know what happens in those big perfume houses and how do people even become perfumers in the traditional sense. Thanks for this, really enjoyed the watch!

I am SO happy you enjoyed those scents, have you tried Ylang Ylang Nosy Be by Perris Monte Carlo? It gives me similar vibes to Sol Salgado!
