- We went behind the wheel of the 2024 BMW 320d Touring to see if this is the perfect family car. The BMW 3 Series Touring we tested is the facelift model. The BMW 3 Series Touring is one of the brand’s best overall cars, with sports sedan handling, SUV practicality, and handsome good looks to create a nearly perfect daily driving package.
Being the BMW 320d Touring model, it uses a highly efficient turbocharged diesel engine. A 2.0-liter turbo-four with 190 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, to be exact. That engine gets paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox which, in this case, sends power to only the rear wheels. That not only makes it efficient but also fun, as the lighter-weight engine gives up front and rear-drive layout makes it feel more balanced through corners. So it’s a proper sports wagon, while also being great on fuel.

I live in the US so we don't have a choice. I love the sedan. I wish we had the touring in the US.

In maintenance costs - absolutly!
My dad rented a G20 320d M Sport here in South Africa for my Birthday, it was a sedan because we don't get Tourings here but I must say, the 320d really has a good strong punch and it is one of my absolute favourites, even though we own an M240i X-Drive!
oh and the way it drives on the road and corners 😍 got an bmw 320e love the curved display

I really wish we got the wagons in America. For that matter, the 1-Series hatchbacks as well!
I have a 2018 3-Series, and it's actually the largest car I've ever owned. I tend to go for small hatches...
Every time you mention the M2, i get all 🤩🥰😜. For the touring though, if i was to buy a family car, it will be it.
My Birthday is on tue 27th of September and the XM debutes on that day which is very cool!
Bought this car. I like the looks of sedan more but this is just more practical

Not coming to North American...this is awesome! where's that frowny face emoji?? Ok the closest BMW I could get is the new X1, so that's what I ordered in M sport. No iX1 though, frowny face again.
Apparently Americans don't buy wagons. iX1 is a bummer for sure. I drove the car and loved it! More on that next week

Just pick up 320d tourer M trim. Car drives like a dream on highway. In the city suspension is on a firm side not to comfy but car came with 19 in runflat tyres. Cabin is high quality maybe could be more quiet. Boot space and sitting is excellent. Infotainment is clear and responsive but overdone. Size of it is too much luckily it can be switched off. Not big fan of that huge tablet. I drive controller is still there😊. Overall great car i was thorn to get sedan but tourer is more functional while sedan looks better.

I really don't like the lci update. The interior feels cheap, with the deletion of the gear stick and climate buttons its clear a accountant has had an eye over it. The speedometer and rev counter looklike they were designed by Atari in the 1990s. The front headlights appear to be from an MX5. Certainly in lighter colours, such as grey the rear vallence looks like the bumper has been pulled off. Definitely not a move forward.
What do you mean with "fake sound pumped into the cabin?" Will my 318i LCI also have that? Sounds nice haha
It's a sporty sound generated over your audio speakers that makes you think inside your cabin that your engine sounds sporty... but on the outside it is dead silent.
A lot of car companies do this. Like Skoda RS models also send this sporty audio over their Harman Kardon system. It's fake nevertheless :)
Is it expensive to change battery when its broken or malfunction??

Could you maybe tell the BMW Interior People that removing the climate button's is really stupid and nobody likes it, rather put buttons in and we can keep our eyes on the road!

Pity , You spent most of the video comparing or mentioning the 340i . I wish you spent more time focused on the 320D. because of this you repeated yourself allot and missed out so much that I was looking for , ie ... fuel consumption ( You said you would mention it but you didnt ) Optional extras , 0-100kph , top speed , service plan ,pricing , boot space size , what colour variants etc etc .
Unfortunately, I couldn't measure the fuel consumption. For many reasons: short drive, driving too sporty. I didn't mention all the specs, 0-100, top speed, pricing, since those are well known usually via articles. Same for color variants and such. The purpose of these reviews is to talk about the driving experience.
