    The middle brother is Henry. He’s the youngest of the 5 Platt children - 3 boys; 2 girls. There’s a wonderful version of Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love with Ben and Henry singing on You tube. Henry is a senior now at University of PA.
    Jonah played in Wicked on Broadway. Their father was one of the producers of the show; was involved in its conception.
    Incredibly talented family who are always in tune with their Jewish roots.

    They are wearing blue and white is because this song was recorded for a virtual celebration of Israel Independence Day and these are the colors of the Israeli flag.

    They each have a name and it would easy enough to learn them and use their names - at least once. Jonah, Henry, Ben

    This stunning arrangement deserves some of the praise here. Kudos to Gabriel Mann and Piper Rutman!

    The oldest brother Jonah has played Fiero from Wicked. They are all so talented.

    so much easier to be connected to a song when it is a hymn! Its like a prayer, they ARE feeling it!

    So moving! I'm a sucker for ensembles and choirs, especially with religious songs. It is one of the most beautiful sounds on earth. Loved it! A little off topic but I found it quite interesting to see how things change when Ben sings For Forever during a performance of Dear Evan Hansen versus watching him sing it as a stand alone song. Of course they would be different but looking for and observing the differences was very educational and fun! I've been a fan of Ben's since Pitch Perfect 😁. Thank you for another great reaction Dr. Marc!

      Thank you! It is very interesting watching performers in an actual performance versus stand alone. I think there are a lot of important lessons to be learned. I would be interested to hear what you noticed if your up for sharing!?

      @@DrMarcReynolds I'd love to share! I think the main difference for me was how creative Ben was with the stand alone song to give us some sense of who the character is. Since he doesn't have the benefit of context within the story, he needed to connect us to the character in front of us, not the one he left on the stage. This is a heart-wrenching song in the musical, where you get a glimpse into Evan's loneliness and pain. Without that context, do I still find myself connecting to the character he's creating? On a late night talk show or something similar, it is a good bet that lots of people would be hearing the song for the first time with no knowledge of the musical (apparently there are people out there who don't love musical theater, though I can't imagine who would want to live that way..🤔😂). They want to connect to this character too and I think Ben did a great job developing a relatable character independent of Evan. He focused much more on depth and richness of the singing and a little less on diction. That allowed the singing to tell the biggest part of the story rather than the acting which is important, in my opinion, when the audience is there specifically to hear one sing. I would love to know what you find are the most notable differences.

    If you want to reinforce technically the idea of the circle vs. diamond formation, it may be a good idea to propose if you were to hug the person to your left and right in the circle formation, it allows the audience a certain level of connectedness and intimacy. If you attempted the same in a diamond formation, it would either a) look awkward because of the physical limitations of the body, or b) suggest by facing outwards and linking up there is a division of power and class that can be associated then.

    They sing with their hearts because they understand the connection between G-d, Torah and the Jewish people.

    Why didn't you take the time to research for Jonah and Henry? At least know their names. They are celebrated singers also. Their dad is a TV/Broadway producer so they have been around show music all their lives. Their talent is exceptional. Henry is the youngest in the center. Jonah is the oldest on the audience left. I enjoyed your video but was a bit insulted that you didn't know the names of the other two Platt boys.

    • @DrMarcReynolds
      @DrMarcReynolds  Před 4 lety +6

      My apologies. No insult was intended. I purposefully don't do research going into these reactions about the singers or the history of the songs. The goal of my reactions is to respond as a trained stage director who is seeing this for the first time without any preconceptions so that I am reacting as much as possible to what I see and hear in the moment of performance. I wish I would have known more about them beforehand and I have definitely learned more about them since this video. Maybe this approach should be altered but it was the original premise I started this channel with.

    It is annoying that you did not make the effort to know both Henry and Jonah’s name. It was totally disrespectful of their talent.
    I have watched this video multiple times and feel their commitment to their faith thru their music. Each brother is an amazing artist and together they are the full package.
