    this is by far the best way I've seen someone paint these weapons. for a while now I've been looking at other people paint glowing weapons and haven't liked any of the final products I've seen, but this is absolutely incredible. thanks for the tutorial :)

    I tried to do this on my necrons using not so good paints and still got the finish I wanted. Thanks a lot!

    Ive been so unmotivated by how i cant managed to do all the glazing-based tutorials out there for my necrons but this one which is mainly based on drybrush worked so well for me. Thank you so much :,3

    I was looking for a quick easy way to paint Necron Hyperphase weapons and after painting a few units this week this is the way I’ll be painting them going forward.
    Looks so much better than Tesseract Glow over corax white base and far simpler and than the games Workshop way of doing it with contrast paints.

      Thank you! I’m glad it’s able to help you out and once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy to do

    I LOVE Tesseract Glow!
    It is one of the most unique paints I’ve seen, and used!
    Sadly I found this tutorial too late as I just started updating my Necrons. :(
    Wish I found it sooner!

    thank you very much for the great tutorial. looks awesome on my blades and that without airbrushing. does that also work with plasma weapons? greetings from Germany 🤘🤘🤘

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před 2 lety

      Hey, I’m so glad that the tutorial helped! As for plasma glow, the dry brushing and glazing of color does work but I only use it for the glow around the coils

    On the larger blades (4:06) what did you use for the inside of the blade design?

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před 2 lety

      For the white, I simply watered down some white scar and carefully dripped it in. Did that once or twice and was all set!

    you said you're a marine player? i can assume you use this same technique on your marine's power sword?

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před rokem +2

      I do! I’ve done similar on Grey Knights halberds and surprisingly enough certain terrain features

  • @Sandblazer
    @Sandblazer Před 2 lety

    Nice, but what happens if you just dry brush white over black? Doesn't that make a gradient of its own?

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před 2 lety +1

      Good question! Might just be me but I’ve noticed that using darker to lighter colors have always led to a better blend. Again, might just be me

    so im thinking of trying this but with orange energy and a yellow edge, any tips on colors?

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před rokem

      You could try a matte medium and Yriel Yellow and Troll Slayer Orange. Could also try to watering down some contrast paints, there’s so many new colors you could try but I’d go light with layers

      @@90bubbel60 as in I wouldn’t apply a thick layer, I’d instead water it down and apply thin layers slowly. You can always add layers but once you go too heavy, you’ll kill the blend

    Why do you keep bouncing the paint pots around when I'm trying to read what you need? I want to see what you're using before I bother watching your video. I'm not going to go out and buy more paints if I don't need to. Having a graphic at the beginning of the video would be very helpful.

    • @thedrypaintpot
      @thedrypaintpot  Před 2 lety

      Hey, sorry about that. This is one of my older videos and I didn’t put the colors on screen at the time (was still getting used to the program). I do mention the colors in the video and on the transition screens but if you’d like a list, let me know! I’ll happily shoot it over.
