- In this video I show you how I draw one of my personal favorite drawings consisting of lots of spheres, flowing lines, tangled tendrils, and deep dramatic shadows. In this drawing I place a much greater emphasis on adding form to the spaces, which adds to the depth. Feel free to follow along and try out the techniques shown here, and don't forget to check out my other classes and tutorials for more ideas and drawing inspiration.

I really like the use of the pencil. It helps to see what works and diesn't work. This is a very encouraging video Thank You
Just gorgeous! It is so impressive, matching your talents, imagination, and abilities. I just love the movement and flow of all the participants. Thank you for sharing. It is much appreciated.
I watched your video while waiting for my mammogram and other cancer checks (I've had breast cancer), your voice, and the rhythm of the drawing was so calming. Now to get home and try it. Thank you ❤
I saw this comment when you posted it - but being so busy - I didn't have time to respond 😞. I truly hope you're doing well. Mammograms can be scary, especially in the situation you're in. Best wishes 🦋🌄🦋
Thank you so much! It's all clear! Whoohoo
@@caronmackenzie2904 that's great😊! 🎉
Hy,,, good morning,,, its was longger lovely lesson today❤
Wow! Nearly 8K subscribers, well done! I love these long form tutorials.
😅 The sub count is seriously blowing my mind right now. I'm really glad you're enjoying the longer format stuff 💕
All of your art feels like they are printed form. Im always speechless looking at how you draw. I have learnt so much from you just in short span of time. Once again really thank you. Lots of love. Keep growing ❤❤❤
Wow, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying my work. Even if I weren't sharing any of this online, I would still do this every day for my own benefit. It's so wonderful to know that by sharing I can help encourage others to start drawing. I'm glad you're learning💙 and enjoying the journey.
I find it so humbling to see in your comments that you are surprised at how much people enjoy and are in awe of your amazing work, I love that about you!!. Your ability to create such seemingly complex work is eye opening, you work so fast, but you also break down each piece, how it works and how simple each design actually is. Thank you for sharing the work which you would be doing for yourself anyway. 😊♥️
it is called mZentangle, by Martha and Rick the creators of the zentangle method. You can find the step outs if you google the zentangle 100 day project
I'm a new subscriber and I'm glad I found you. You're helping me get my passion for drawing back. Thank you for posting and please keep up the good work!
Doing the same. Created 22 drawings and half of them are these doodles. But it has caused me to get back into drawing.
Beautiful!❤️❤️❤️
Thanks again for a great lesson. You answered every question I asked after yesterday’s video. This really helps me let go of preconceived ideas for a drawing and just do it. I think the hard part for me to let go of is the idea that they all have to be “keepers”. I needed the reminder that we all need practice and that it’s okay to combine any shapes or patterns we think of. It’s practice and we learn from all of them. And, if we really dislike a drawing we can throw it away and begin again. Thanks so much!
Exactly! Mistakes are such an integral aspect of creation and of the learning process as a whole.
Love your tutorials and I enjoy watching your intricate designs come to life. Appreciate the clear, concise explanations about what you're doing and why. I also love your soothing voice! You're a terrific CZcamsr!
Wow, thank you!
I started drawing a few months ago and I’m so glad I found you! I watch so many videos but you have quickly become my favorite. Thank you for the inspiration.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you Betsy!❤ I just love listening to you and your drawings are amazing!
that is gorgeous
I love to watch you draw and thoroughly enjoy your comments and suggestions. They are very helpful for a novice like me. Thanks for posting.
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos😊
Wow! They just jump off the page. Well done! I don't have time to watch now (got supper cooking) buy I'll be oohing and awing tomorrow. 😃
Of course of course. Dinner wont cook itself ☺️.
The 3D oval orb is awesome! As you were drawing it, it's really looked three-dimensional as if you were added ovals to the side of a ball.❤ love it
Love this!❤
Followed along on this one for my Sketch of the day, as the other side of the page has colors that bled through. Needed a lot of ink! So fun and satisfying! Thank you!
I'm glad you followed along . Its fun to make a big wonderful mess in a sketchbook.
Fantastic!❤
Awesome video Betsy, you are a queen of shading and orbs ❤
Another great drawing Betsi. I thought before I attempt any of this kind of drawing that maybe I should do some of the basic zentangle type drawings. I know that I’m holding the pen too tight, but it feels funny if I try to lighten my hold. And I start out slow and steady and the next thing I know, I’m speed drawing, lol! Oy! I have lots of practicing to do. I look forward to seeing your next video…..I always want more. Thanks for sharing your talent, tips, and tricks with us. You really are amazing!
Subbed at first sight. Lv your line work & examples of. Fantastic. Can't wait to explore more of your videos! 😊
Welcome aboard! 💕
turned out very nice
Love this. Thanks for teaching and sharing your process. I have learned so much from your videos.
Wonderful!
Love the way you take us through your thought process as you create these beautiful drawings , thank you
My pleasure 😊. Sometimes I think I can’t help it, so its nice to know its somewhat pleasant.
Thanks for this. And for showing the whole process including shading. This artwork is really awesome.
Thank you so much 😀
I move around a lot too. I enjoy your videos so much. I love to hear you talk about the shapes, etc. Thank you, Betsi. ❤
Glad you like them! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who flits around like that.
WOW! I am completely stunned!!! So so beautiful drawing. Kind of magical!!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it.
Great teacher! I love the simple freedom pf your art. I feel so inspired!
Thank you so much!
It’s 1.30 am and I should be sleeping! Looking forward to watching this later 😊
Excellent tutorial 🎉
You inspire me to draw something like that. Thanks a lot.
Another lovely image! I love watching you work, and learning.
Funny note...I like drawing the shapes you called doughnuts or eyeballs; I call them my frog's eggs, because I got the idea from a photo of frog eggs.
Someone else during one of my Lives called them frog eggs 😊. That's how I think of them now too.
Your art is so inspiration ❤it
WOW...just stumbled unto your channel...and loved what you did, so I subscribed!!! I am so so new to this and am enjoying the journey! Thanks for sharing, inspiring and sharing the supplies that you use!
Thanks for subbing!
I love love love your channel! Thank you so much for teaching me!❤
Thanks for watching!
amazing!!!!!!!
This is nice to do!
Ok I saw that it was 1.5 hrs long and said no way an I watching all of this.
Ok it’s an 1.5 hrs later and I learned a lot and enjoyed the whole thing.
I am a little high on muscle relaxers and pain pills for a bad back but I did enjoyed every minute.
😂 Thank you for the comments. I'm glad you ended up enjoying it. I know it's long, but some things require time.
Wonderful. I have watching your tutorials for a couple of weeks and I find them fun and I always learn something.
Glad you like them! 🌄
I really like your work, You have taught me a lot. Thanks
This is beautiful.I have been seeing this in my side bar for weeks ,so thought I would come and watch .It’s very relaxing I must say, never really tried this sort of thing, but you can see why it’s so absorbing. The over all affect it really lovely and it’s interesting as there’s so much to see on the whole piece, not just one area.I love this 🥰
Wow, thank you
So soothing listening to your voice while watching. Thank you I needed an uplift ❤
I'm so glad!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you work! I’ve gotten into the habit of doing this type of drawing every night for an hour or two (or five), but now I’m in the process of moving and all my supplies are packed away. 😢 You’ve brightened my day and reminded me of what I have to look forward to, so thank you! BTW, when I want to add highlights, I use a white Caran d’Ache Luminance colored pencil. Goes on super smooth and won’t brush/rub away like charcoal can. Be well!
Just discovered your channel and it’s wonderful. I usually draw portraits and was trying to use these techniques to bring depth to a portrait. I would love to see a video on that. Thank you for your channel and inspiration.
Wonderful! I don't draw portraits too often, unfortunately, but I've been wanting to practice. This might be a good direction to explore😊
So cool!!
💜💙💜
I'm loving watching and listening to you. It makes me want to touch each section to feel the texture. I'm going to try drawing like this although I'm pretty sure my arthritic hands won't allow me any speed. Rome wasn't built in a day lol. Sending hugs from New Zealand
I loved yr art ❤❤❤❤
Great work!❤
Thank you! 😄
Your work is just so darn beautiful. I wish I could come up with great designs…you are amazing at that.
Thank you so much! I'm sure you can come up with designs. Just like with other aspects of the craft, it takes some practice.
Thank you!
very cool! I tryd it today actuly. I have to say: thank you for your kreavity and to see, what is possible ;-) . LG Ayla
I'm glad you tried it out . I hope you enjoyed the process 💙
It looks fantastic I am doing pits off your one love that idea of shading.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful artwork. This very similar to what I do for a relief carving. I love your artwork..
Wow, I bet it looks really interesting in relief 😊. I've created some of these forms in sculpture, but never together this way. Might be fun to explore that in the future.
Thankyou....this is the first time ive seen your work. So happy i did...i love to draw...this looks like something i will enjoy....cant wait to start one!!! ❤❤
Welcome 😊
When I first looked at this it reminded me of a diving on a coral reef. Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you this has been very useful 😊
Glad it was helpful!
❤❤❤
💙☺️💙
I love watching you draw but it is putting me to sleep. I love it so much and I want to try it. I think it is awesome.
wow, lovely. i am looking forward to rewatching at a time i can draw along
Please enjoy💙. Drawing can be so therapeutic. As always, reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.
So mesmerizing. Awesome 👌. Couldn't stop watching and continued till the end. 💕
I've become your fan and have also subscribed your channel.
Wow thank you and thanks for subbing 🌄
😮
You might be able to get a marking pencils for clothes that they use for marking a fabric
Love it Ms Betti🤩 as for the white highlighter pencil, I v had good results using the Prisma White pencil if you haven’t already tried, I recommend it.✨🙏🏽✨
Thanks for the tip!
I just noticed the different washi tape on the end of your pens - is that so you can see the size you’re looking for easier? It’s brilliant!!
Yes, it is 😅. I try to only use two or three pens at a given time til they run out. With my mildly bad eyesight its sometimes hard to tell apart all those black and grey barrels. You're very observant 😊💕
White pastel pencils can work too.
That's a great tip!
that is not a charcoal pencil, that is a pastel pencil, thats what leaves the shine
I noticed you left several comments and so I will simply respond to them all here.
I can understand how you might be confused, especially if I don't mention specific zentangle patterns. Here's the deal: I draw circles and wavy lines. I'm aware that quite a few simple designs have names in zentangle and many times I've asked my audience to tell me if Something I draw has a name in zentangle, which I then try to add to my vocab. Of late I don't mention that as often, as it gets repetitive. The truth is I don't draw zentangle. I've drawn this way longer than zentangle has been around. I also did not invent anything (and haven't claimed to) and 🤔 pretty much nobody owns circles or contour lines. I'm just doodling, exploring what can be created with simple lines. Mostly I'm truly sorry, as you appear offended by my doodles. You claim that I'm "acting like [I] invented them", but where are you getting that from? Nobody invented circles. Even zentangle is drawn from really simple and widely-used designs that have been around for ages, which they don't own. Unless I'm mistaken, zentangle is a method, a meditation, a technique to clear your thoughts and to de-stress. They use simple shapes so that everyone can join in. No one owns abstract act, no one owns doodling, no one owns circles. There is no monopoly on art styles or technniques. I hope this answers your questions.
Ps. Its not pastel pencil. I don't own any.
Been doing these kinds of drawings for a few yrs now and I love them! But yours... just amazing!!! ♥♥♥ Thank you for sharing! Ohhh btw... I need that pencil! lol I looked in the description but I didn't see it. What is it called?
Thanks! I'm not sure which pencil I used here, but if it's the one with the eraser pencil on the back, I made that one myself☺️ by gluing together a pencil and and eraser pencil.
@@betsi_jae oh cool! Very creative!
@@betsi_jae and you're welcome!❤
Hey…. New subscriber here. Just wondering how long have you been drawing like this? What do you do with these drawings after you’re done? Have you considered to give drawing lessons on your channel?
I’ve been drawing and making art since I was a small child, and I pretty much keep it all except when a birthday rolls around or when I receive a commission. As far as teaching lessons, I might need some clarification, since I already post complete hour and a half long lessons on my CZcams Channel. Are you referring to one-one classes? I don’t offer anything like that but in the future I might offer longer lessons on my Gumroad.
Does that circle maker not move on the paper when you use it? Because I have to hold mine down
If you have the one from Ddiin, like mine, included in the package is a set of tiny adhesive stickers that need to be placed on the bottom. This little sticker keeps the tool from moving while you draw.
Miss Betsi, I have a very hard time keeping the small lines close enough together, it seems they get crooked on me, I have arthritis and maybe I can use that as an excuse, lol, but I guess my question would be: How do you keep those lines so even and curve so well? I really wish I could do that. I’ve been practicing, but still having a hard time. Any tips?
That’s such a tough question. Truthfully I really only know what works for me: I intentionally try to loosen my grip on the pen since when I grip it too tightly I notice I strain my hands more. As far as getting the lines cleaner and smoother, it takes practice, sometimes lots and lots of intentional practice.
@@betsi_jae Thank you, that does help me. Sometimes its hard to keep doing it over and over, but it does help. And I do grip the pencil like it might run away. In the mornings I have to straighten my fingers and do exercises to keep them moving. They get okay and I draw, hold the pencil to tight, and on and on. LOL. Love your channel.
Do you call this zentangle, or is that a thing of the past
You're welcome to call it Zentangle if you like💙. I generally don't consider it so, since I've added my own flavor to it but using "zentangle" helps folks find it when using social media and the web.
🐧🐧🐶🐶🐨🐨🦊🦊🐺🐺
I never hear you give credit to the zentangle process or the artists who created everyone of these tangles you hyave learned through them? Why not????? Just curious
Beautiful,, but too dark.
Canale già bloccato in quanto ripetitivo e invasivo, ma che continua a ripresentarsi, peraltro sempre col medesimo video. Ovviamente, prescindendo dai miei interessi personali, non seguirò niente, dato quanto è infestante.
😂 I understand that you don't want to watch any of my videos, my dear, but by commenting on it like you just did, you're inviting CZcams to recommend more if my content to you. Also, for anyone else reading this, keep in mind that the recommendations on CZcams are not in any way controlled by me or by any other creator. We just post stuff and cross our fingers. If you don't want to watch it, just keep scrolling. 💕
the eye balls are called tipple, every I S and O you draw have names and you act like you made this all up yourself thats sad. That is taking the credit of other artists creation. Granted you have a steady hand but you are deceiving your followers. You did not randomly decide to put it in, it was not your well thought out decision, it is CZT s who dont even claim to own this like you do. its sad
