- Pokemon Radical Red is one of the best rom hacks ever made. In Radical Red 4.0, all Pokemon through generation 9 are included, challenging boss battles have been added throughout the region, and new moves and abilities were created to rebalance Pokemon. But can I beat this incredible game as a randomized hardcore nuzlocke?
Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Can only catch the first encounter on each route
2) No healing items can be used in battle (held items are allowed)
3) If a Pokemon faints they are considered dead and must be released or boxed
4) No overleveling past the next Gym Leader's ace
5) Battle mode must be on "set"

Radical Red has such a good level of difficulty without creating any artificial difficulty through tedium. They provide so much quality of life to help you grind and lets you truly team build and theory craft instead of grinding for an hour and brute forcing battles through levels.

I love Radical Red so much. Once I played the game with random encounters but normal abilities. This was before the Gen 9 update because I wanted to be able to use the Seviian- and Hisuian-Forms and Urshifu. I learned something. Electric/Ice Seviian Zebstrika is one of the most OP Pokemon in this entire game. No type resists Electric and Ice. It´s an incredible powerful offensive typing and Zebstrika has good speed. This Pokemon killed so many Pokemon on enemy teams and it carried the hole game. I love this Pokemon. It´s the powerhouse that the normal Zebstrika should be.
I love your attitude, but S-Zebstrika gets bodied by faster ground or bulkier tank pokes pretty early on. I've played through RR many times now and unfortunately the angry lighting zebra has never made it into the hall of fame.

I love how confusing the "hardcore" name for radical red is. So my people are doing a Hardcore nuzlock rule set but not using the "Hardcore" setting in radical red makes trying to find a video of that rough lol great video though man
I wish they'd added a randomizer for regional variants but nothing else being random. That would be fun having a mix of looks in the party even early game
Regional variants are typically handled by the day/night cycle, so they kind of are! you could also flip a coin or roll a die or something to determine what time of day your encounter got to be!
2:02 grassy terrain doesn't lowers the damage of "all ground moves" only earthquake, bulldoze and magnitude

Steelix and Onix could both use a buff. Love the designs but powercreep was really cruel to Steelix and Onix was always bad. Flygon could use a buff, give it 10 more in attack, speed and special attack. Exploud could use one too. It has such a great movepool but not the stats to use either attacking type very well.

IIRC, no. Killing Houndoom wasn't a luck thing. Spread moves deal less damage when spread between multiple targets in baseline Pokemon, so I assume it's the same here. 75% damage. It would take an almighty being conspiring against you and messing with the damage calcs in order for your to lose.
It took 40% on the first spread dazzling gleam,I’m fairly confident it was a roll even counting for 100 percent damage

I like how everybody is now beating it hardcore mode 4.0 but before that no one could do it all past versions are a lot harder and way more unbalanced you literally couldn't beat the game hardcore mode it just wasn't optimized well enough to even be possible before 4.0
first of all, he is doing normal mode, just a hardcore nuzlocke (confusing title, I know) secondly, I've beat radical red twice on hardmode, normal run and randomizer run on v3.2 soo I dont know what you are on about it being impossible lol
