Love hearing Early Modern English.
so raw, so good
Nothing better than hearing our boys play so finest, thanks John. Legend
.
A very nice show here. It's kind of sad that some naysayers seem to think that all Modern English was good for was "I'll Melt with You," but there were much more than that. I hear some Joy Division influences in Black Houses here.
Have always been a fan never have heard this I am blown away 5 stars
If they thumped it out and it was recorded, I got it. I LOVE these guys, I have it ALL, and signed, the album "Mesh and Lace" is as good and as groundbreaking as Joy Divion's "Unknown Pleasures"
that album was and still is awesome ... side 2 is very special , very thoughtful. Mesh and Lace :-)
well done John Peel. Well done Modern English, Still going strong and still wanted.
This is a great Peel session. I know the legend of the man but have rarely ever heard him speak. He sounded like such a nice guy. Thank you for posting this!
You can hear the roots of what would become their pastoral masterpiece
Whoa, nice!
merci 👍
Espectacular! Qué grandes los dos primeros de esta banda..

Cold tears
Frozen tearz
the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
POST PUNK AWESOME
Poto
Mesh & Lace is the band in its original glory in all ways. Very post/punk/goth feel and Joy Division-ish feel, but still original. ❤ but this recording is different all together!
The first track sounds a little like The Cure's album Pornography, really like the frantic drumming.
the harmonics on the guitar halfway through black house remind me of the cure's play for today...
This was before cure pornography era...
