    Hi everyone in this video I’m showing you guys how to replace ignition coils on a 2009 Toyota Corolla. You can also use this same method to change your spark plugs you just have to take the extra step and a remove the plugs once the ignition coils are out.

    HW DOES 1 KNOW THE CORRECT IGNITION COILS TO BUY ... R THERE CODES ON COILS ITSELF R NUMBERS....

      If you are buying from an auto parts store they should be able to provide you with the correct ones. You want to buy denso ignition coils as those are the OEM brand Toyota uses for these cars.

    My 2009 Corolla has gone into 'limp mode', and shows the Cylinder 1 misfire code like yours does. Assuming I swap/replace the ignition coil for that cylinder, will the car automatically take itself out of limp mode if it works or do I need to do something to 'reset' it?

    • @martinrodriguez9959
      @martinrodriguez9959  Před rokem +1

      Test it first. Swap the ignition coil into a different cylinder and see if the misfire changes to the cylinder you moved the coil too. If it doesn’t change then you might need spark plugs.

      @@martinrodriguez9959 Thanks! That is exactly my plan, swap #1 with #2 (or any other one), clear the code, and see if it follows the coil or not.

      Awesome, hopefully you get your issue resolved.

      @@martinrodriguez9959 I swapped out #1 with #3, and after the first reset it showed cylinders #1 and #3 misfiring - whoops! But I cleared the codes, turned off the engine, fired it back up, and sure enough it's showing misfires on cylinder #3 now. I've got 4 new coils on the way, should be here tomorrow, hopefully this fixes the limp mode.

      @@Sudz28 awesome. so it seems like it mostly definitely was your ignition coils. Hopefully your issues get resolved.

    Is it a good "rule of thumb" to replace spark plugs at the same time you replace Ignition Coils? or does it really matter?

    • @martinrodriguez9959
      @martinrodriguez9959  Před rokem +1

      It’s just more convenient than anything you’re already in there might as well take the extra step

    I’ve replaced my coils for a third time now. Any idea why the misfiring keeps happening and yes the spark plugs have been replacement not too long ago.

    Will the light come off after the replacement or would I still have to clear the code and wait to see if it works?

    yo man I had question whilst I was unscrewing spark plugs it start making squeaking noise I got scared might be stripping the spark plug is this normal, or am I doing something wrong

    • @martinrodriguez9959
      @martinrodriguez9959  Před 2 lety

      Idk why it would squeak. If you already started undoing the spark plugs I would just keep going. Maybe they are just very old?
