  • WINNING IN CORPORATE AMERICA FOR MEN OF COLOR // Want to win in the corporate america game for men of color? This video will show you the 3 rules of the corporate america game, so you can advance your career. Instead of focusing on race in the workplace, I believe one’s energy is better spent on being flat-out being better than the competition.
Next time you find yourself not getting promoted, you’ll know and understand it has nothing to do with racism at work. It has everything to do with the 3 rules of the corporate america game that you will need to know how it’s played.
The three rules to win the corporate america game for men of color are:
Rule 1: You MUST Be Flat-Out Better Than Everyone Else
Rule 2: You MUST Be Perceived As A Team Player
Rule 3: You MUST Network/Manage Up
The more you can understand each rule and what is expected of you, the better your chances of being included.

RIP Darnell, you broke this down so perfectly. I’m sure some people won’t understand this , but as a black man, I do thank you so much for this. I try to pass this message on , to as many people as possible.

I wished I had known this in my 20's starting out in the corporate world. Did not have a mentor in my field. I was clueless and I paid a heavy price professionally. Thank you DC! Never too late.

Hey Bunmi, thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it more than you know. You are correct, it's never too late. Just so you know, I didn't have any mentors either. Except, all the books I read. They became my mentors. Go check out my CZcams video on "The Power Of Reading Books" (czcams.com/video/xRRlmkmy9ys/video.html).

If you are a mediocre skilled person of color it’s better to go to your country of origin. It’s too much pressure for poc in America to do well consistently. You have to be more smart and also well liked and thick skinned. Not sure why so many Asians emigrate here thinking they will have an easier life. Bc most people are mediocre in general. I’d rather face high pressure Asia than racism. Wish my parents stayed in Asia originally.

Darnell, RIP. I cannot kiss up to them just to be apart of their network. It is not my fault that they did not seek out friends from
People of color. There are countless videos of blacks being pushed out of the workforce because they are black. I too have done things to get in with my coworkers to only fail
badly. You had a leg up because of your success as a ball player that transcended most blacks. Whites see us as competition and whites do not want to compete with us so that is why so many blacks are leaving corporate America. I hope they find a way to stay and dig their heels in the sand. Whites get to tell whites on blacks. You cannot image how many times I have had white directors tell me that they don’t like me, but the truth to it all is that they do not want to compete with me for a raise or promotion or performance and every single time being a top former I was terminated. It goes deeper than just being a brown noser. I get the part of opening up but I shouldn’t have too.

"Manhood" is different than being a male, is different than being a "Black female" in corporate America. "African of America" men, uncompromised (or femininized) have the biggest target for scrutiny and degradation. The American White Supremacy narrative by historical design, is aimed to alleviate or deter the threat of "Black manhood."

Systemic racism in America has levels to it...intertwined but levels. A business dictating hair style or texture, forces not only a woman, but rradutionally, her husband too...to accept another "man's design of how your spouse's personal effects and esteem will be formed. It may be out there, but haven't heard of a business, by an estimation of business culture standards..."demands" or expects a woman to behave more masculine. Check out Neely Fuller" for theory on how each gender is compromised on all levels within the global system of "White Supremacy." As we know, the work place is not immune.

Sad. They not only set the tone for corporate acceptance but promote it with players 1 thru 4. They then demand it of you as a control and a validator. Then expect it of you no matter what and they watch you like an experiment. It's fascinating to them as they watch you twist, turn and compromise and more.
