- NBC's "Heroes" was one of the earliest large scale ensemble dramas, and was a massive cultural milestone. It was like, really, really good. In this video we're gonna look at the first season and see why it was so good (in my opinion)

Thank you very much for putting a spotlight on one of my favorite shows growing up.
I randomly started watching this show when i was like 13 or maybe 14 and absolutely eating it up. Then later i found out that the actor who plays silas, that man who wants to be accepted above anything else, also plays the psychopath in AHS (American Horror Story). That psychopath wants to be loved instead of accepted, and i found it funny that he again played a character that was so desperate, almost needy. And not as in, his character was portrayed as needy, but more as in fulfilling that strong desire they have deep within. Needing love or acceptance, i dont know. Maybe i'm thinking too much about this.
who is Silas?
Great video, I hope you do a follow up talking about the later seasons
Nice Video!, I'd love to hear your opinions on the later seasons of the show and how the series started struggling (In my opinion) to maintain a central plot for all of its characters. While I loved watching the show for the first time a couple of years ago, I never thought of the cultural impact it had by portrying "Nerd media", I'd also like to hear what you think of this cultural effect as the seasons went on
I'm hoping this topic gets some attention, because continued coverage of Heroes would definitely be something I'd be interested in!
Honestly would love to see your take on the later seasons if I had to describe Heroes as a whole, Season 1 and 2 was AMAZING, skip the first half of season 3, the second half of season 3 was good, and all the later seasons dont watch
Imo the biggest flaw in season 1 is in the beginning. When Peter is in the same place as Sylar. Peter SHOULD have gotten Sylar's power of "just knowing how things work" which would have unlocked the full potential of Peter's power, allowing him to permanently take on the powers of everyone he meets and instantly have full mastery of all his powers.
Idk I personally liked the last season with the circus as well, the second half of the second half of S3 was interesting, though mostly a retcon. S2 was not bad imo but not great and the first half of S3 was horrible imo. The parts I really don't like had bad writing to solve meta problems about the plot and fast-paced to a fault.
I guess liking the last season might be unpopular, but IDK.
I rather enjoy the show, even to the very last season, was it perfect? No. Nothing is and I think it was pretty great and I still re watch it nearly every year!
Nice video, but what about The Legend of Korra rants?
when i really need money
Another great video, shame about the latter seasons though.
"On par with Zuko"?! Puhlease!
"first superhero show"
MY ASS!
what about "The greatest american hero"!
As crappy as Heroes seasons past first one, i still consider them canon, until part where Hiro and Ando are offered to become villain(in 3rd season, this is where the point of divergence for heroes universe in my mega-crossover took place)
I am in minority but I actually enjoyed seasons post season 1 the most, not that there weren't parts of season 1 I liked cause there was but I do think it is a bit overrated.
Season 3 is really entertaining despite all the problems with it
Im glad you also like it.@@Roxasamico
@@malivore7264 I've always been a big fan of the whole show and thought it was unjustly hated. Everyone gave up on it too fast. The atmosphere was unique, the way the powers worked, the world building, loads of talented actors in the cast etc. The effort put into the set design even, I think the designer of the first season won an award for it. Compared to most superhero shows now, Season 3 is a masterpiece.
I agree, that is nice to hear there are other fans of it. @@Roxasamico
I watched it in 2016 or something and I remember season 1 was freaking amazing. Season 2 was decent and season 3 and 4 were the biggest piece of dogshit I've ever seen. To everyone who wants to watch the show, I highly recommend you to stop watching after finishing season 2.
Nice video, but Heroes ain't the original superhero show. Smallville came out a whole 5yrs earlier.
never seen it
THE BIGGEST TRAGEDY OF THIS SHOW... EVEN BIGGER THAN THE CANCELLATION... the reboot, DID NOT EVEN MENTION PETER! agraeheraheafwesadfdesfvdas cable companies are just propagandist monkeys!
That show had so much wasted potential.
