He is absolutely correct. My children are expected to act honerably but to never be a coward. The consequences of cowardice are far worse than anything a school might do.

I agree. We are training our children weaknesses. I'm not teaching my children that kicking ass is wrong .I'm nice, but I'm not weak.

School policy?!! Cracks my brain. 😂
It is good that your son is trained to protect himself.

The bully used a weapon. That is a felony and if the school suspends my kid for being a hero then I'm pressing charges and going to the local news station to tell the story.

I would reward my son with almost whatever the fuck he wanted everyday during those 2 weeks that he was off of school. Sometimes, life lessons matter more than the stupid bullshit in our institutions.

Zero Violence Policy, No Bullying Zone basically means kids can instigate whatever fucked up thing they think of and if anyone stands up against them then the bully gets protected from the consequences of their actions.
We have the same problem in the UK, when I was at school kids used to pick on me and I went to the teachers and said that I was being picked on and I wanted to be left alone. It got worse as it had moved from just in break times to interfering in lessons and I went back to the teachers and said that things had gotten worse and that if the teachers didn't do anything then I would take things into my own hands as I didn't feel like the school was protecting me when I needed it. A week passed nothing changed and when I was getting kicked in class I stood up and gave the kid a verbal warning looked at the teacher and asked if she would help me as I got kicked again, she said that the kid had anger problems and I just had to deal with it. I got kicked again and I grabbed the back of the kids head and slammed it into the table twice, screamed quite loud and then got punished for being violent on school grounds. When I said that the kid had been bullying me for about 3 months and gave times where I was being beaten up in front of the schools camera systems, I got told that the other students had said they were horsing around and I was ok with being roughed up, and as it was effectively my word against the words of a few others it was deemed that I was the one who had pushed the events into a violent territory. Now I was a big kid with a high pain threshold and so could take a lot of being beaten up but I didn't like it, and to be honest I had a similar experience of being beaten up or attacked for a few weeks asking the school for help, not getting it and then getting punished after dealing with it myself at least once a year throughout my time in secondary school (age 11-16) My older brother had a similar issue in his first year of secondary school but as my Mother loved him more then the police were involved and the school started to spend time making sure that potential incidents didn't happen.

This is sadly nothing new either, in my jr H.S in the 90s I got two weeks suspension because some kid punched me in the face during basketball, they said because I didn't stop once he was down I was at fault but that dude was bigger than me and wasn't stopping short of a ko.

If "Zero Violence Policy" is to be considered the way that school puts it, then it means one has only the possibility of being abused, but never to defend himself or be defended by someone, for: 1) the abuser is the one who initiates the agression, hence from the start you are already being attacked. If you are impaired of fighting back, your only right is that of being attacked and absorbing damage; 2) the abuser is, by definition, someone who disregards the rules, so he won't respect that policy anyways, and if you do, you are only allowed to be abused!
That whole thing is so stupid and immoral, that no one can accept it! Please, keep speaking it out loud, make a movement against it, and go to the Judges! The whole thing is a complete absurd!

Yeah I got suspended numerous times for self defense/not letting people talk to me in whatever ways.

Why wasn't the bully suspended too? Your son was being a protector & gets put out of school. That is BS.

Violence is never the appropriate answer. The child could’ve informed a teacher nearby. However if my child is being physically bullied then I’m allowing game on for self defense.
That doesn’t mean my child is to think he is Steven Seagal. In that case I think he already lost the fight..

You see someone being assaulted and the answer is to leave them alone while you go get help? I hope to god you don’t have daughters.

You literally just contradicted yourself in two sentences. "Violence is never the appropriate answer... But if my kid blah blah blah..." More important than self defense is the ability to think. Please take note people.

What a silly comment, please don’t have children and teach them to be doormats. The threat of violence keeps everything moving smoothly in this world.

My friend getting cucked is a personal preference, don't think your kids will like it.
