    Consider these:
    (1) The fund was proposed by three lawmakers related to Marcos Jnr - his cousin, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, his cousin’s wife Yedda Marie Romualdez, and his eldest son Ferdinand “Sandro” Alexander Marcos.
    (2) There is a very particular section in the legislation that barred lower courts from stopping the fund’s investments, leaving that power only to the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.
    (3) What can stop Marcos from injecting his ill-gotten wealth by participating in the Maharlika [Fund]? Is there a possibility that this proposed fund serves as a money-laundering channel?
    (4) Under the bill, which would create the Maharlika Investments Corporation, its board would have the power to “approve the issuance of debt and debt-like instruments”. No restriction is imposed on who the buyers are. That's right, anybody could be a buyer, including you know who?
    (5) What would the Maharlika fund be able to do that the SSS, GSIS, DBP, and LB are not already doing?
However, such a fund is not risk-free, and it boils down to how good the fund manager is. It could also fail if transparency, controls, checks, and balances are not established.
Stevie Cunjieng has the knowledge to stem the tide of the toxic Filipino culture of corruption. Mimi on your question, "Can the government afford Stevie Cuunjieng?" Maybe not, so let's crowd-fund Stevie and bring him up front and center. 🎯🎯🎯

I nominate Stevie Cuunjieng to manage this sovereign wealth fund.
In the Philippines where political corruption is a problem, wealth funds can be used as a slush fund for nepotism by awarding loans and equity investments, and high-fee management contracts to allies and family. More blatantly, flat embezzlement of sovereign wealth for the personal use of corrupt leaders who control the funds, often not revealed until long after it happens, is not uncommon.
Stevie Cuunjieng is more than qualified to stem the tide of corruption and make us all rich and prosperous. 💰💰💰

Very interesting insight about demographic dividend. In Canada the government is proposing a 500k invitation for immigrants. Not counting the people who were here already this proposal will add workers and taxation that will add to the system. Because of the strenous cost living and competition here they may decide to stay or leave the country whereas in the Philippines the government itself pushes its citizen to migrate. So where will be the pension fund coming.
