Roberto, I'm here watching your third video and in each video, you always have something so funny to say. In this one, the "Help Text Size". "If you're old and you're losing your sight, go to large". OMG, you made me laugh, especially because of your Spanish accent. Anyway, great videos Roberto, I am like David below, been using Canon for life and on my 5D MII, I hardly ever visited the menus extensively. You're right though, these settings will aid me with faster photo processing and focus selection.
Thank you for your time on all these. I will continue to watch all of them and revisit them as a refresher. Who wants to read a manual when we can watch your videos. :))
PS. no insult intended on your accent, I'm Spanish too and I have so many family members with a similar accent. ;)

This is too good and highly informative and detailed. I landed up here as I was wondering why the first letter in the file name disappeared for me and I got to know the answer here. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

I recently purchased the R6, and it so different to the 5D IV.
Great information from Roberto about the menu system and explaining why he has changed some of the default setting.
There are many videos about this out there, but this is a no-brainer. I have followed Roberto for years, he is a great photographer, educator and inspiration.

Fantastic videos. I've watched all of them with my new R6 sitting in my lap. Thanks. Love your delivery and straight forward logic. In some places, you validated my decisions and in others, you showed me a new way to think about my camera. I'm a 20-year shooter. Your clear explanations show that you have a true mastery of the craft, your professionalism shows through everywhere. What an inspiration... I'm going to tap your energy and be more proactive in working with the menus. I'd gotten into a bit of a rut with my well-worn 5Dmk3, thinking I knew everything and getting stuck in outdated ways of shooting. Thank you 100x. Is the custom functions video out yet? I can't find it.

Great video Roberto! My understanding of Adobe RGB vs sRGB setting is that it only affects jpegs. RAWs are captured in neither color space, and later assigned a color space in Lightroom or wherever. Essentially, depending on your plans for your JPEGs, you DO want sRGB. For instance, in the scenario of uploading a quick slideshow or handing off a slideshow to the client quickly, you would need to convert Adobe RGB files to sRGB so that their software doesn't mess up the colors and look grey.

Roberto, wonderful videos:) I just got my R6 3 days ago, and immediately started to watch all of them and change the settings according to your great explanations:) I have two questions: 1 - is there a video regarding to the wifi and connection sector of the menu? I looked it up and didn't find any. 2 - can you please direct me to where I can find an explanation on how to make my own c settings? I understood that I have to set it when there is a certain setting I like, but if I, like you, want to set my c to a portrait close up, ho do I do it? I watched the videos a few times and didn't quite get it:)
Keep up the good work, you are doing a wonderful job:)

  • @shawnyshawna1313

Hi Roberto! Per your suggestion in this or another of the videos, I'm shooting on my R6 with a 4:3 aspect ratio which still captures the outer edges for a full frame photo (just masks it off when shooting through the viewfinder and LCD). I had anticipated it was just a guide to make sure to shoot for future cropping, but when I import to lightroom, they all appear as the cropped versions. I can enter crop mode and all of the image is still there and I can set it to original aspect but I'm having to do it one by one...is there a way to do this en masse either on import or as a "sync" files? When I tried syncing crop aspect ratio from one image, it did put all the images to the original aspect ratio, but still cropped to the center of the image rather than showing the full data/image. Any tips? I've tried to sync images after I "crop" one image to original size, but that then crops the photos even smaller but in the new ratio.

I have set up my camera exactly how you have explained in your videos, and when I set up my custom like yours, how do I get the rest of the settings to stay in custom, for instance -- I never shoot RAW and Jpeg, only RAW, but in custom it isn't giving me the option to just have RAW, I have to set it in Q, and then if the camera turns off, it goes back to RAW/Jpeg, as an example. What am I missing? I love your custom setting - but I need to make a few tweets help.

Hi Great Videos. Im curious your videos which show you camera screen with the BG-R10 Battery grip on indicate the battery status of both the grip batteries. I have the same setup on my R5, but the battery icon only has a single image. When I go to the Battery info both batterie are visible. Is there a setting which changes this icon on the camera display?

Roberto, a lot of people have asked Canon for more than 3 custom shooting modes. It seems like a simple software fix. There could be an option in this mode to ADD CUSTOM SHOOTING MODE. For various types of photography, this would be helpful. Yet, Canon has stuck with just 3 custom modes. Do you know why? Can this be changed. I know I'm not the first to make this suggestion to Canon. Thanks.
