    As a person who used all the top DJ software because I am not a DJ which know all my music very well and do not have the brain to remember every song name. I tested each software to see which software will help me the most. I will say that out side of this two features which are serato flip, and fade in and fade out cue point in traktor, I will consider that Rekordbox is a very likeable option. it has many great feature and it is stable. I will not discuss the many feature but I will recommend giving it a try. A very good thing is that they are equipment like the s9 and the ddj-sx2 which can be use with serato and Rekordbox so there is no need to buy new equipment. If you need to buy equipment as well you may want to read about the features of the software before switch. In my opinion Rekordbox is half step ahead of serato. If Rekordbox included a feature like flip mode then Rekordbox will be a full step ahead of serato and if they included fade in and fade out cue point the will be ahead of traktor.

    I currently own the DDJ 1000 and I love it. It is by FAR Pioneers best controller and the closest thing to having a CDJ/DJM setup for home use. Rekordbox DJ has made some real strides as far as a DJ programme and it does feel similar to Serato.
    BUT.......
    If you are already a long time Serato user then here's no real reason to make the switch.

    I have Rekordbox DJ DVS with turntables, every time I use it I get 100% one program crash within 3 hours of playing. This crash can happen within 1min of use or after 2h 59min- other problem being it doesn’t register the sound when I move the time code vinyl very slow, so slow scratches doesn’t work.
    For me, I used it in the club once and it failed me miserably, now I just use USB sticks and CDJS because I can’t rely on the software crashing when I’m out playing...

      I plan to use Rekordbox for my music management because I feel it has the best options (for me). Chances are I might start using it dor DJ’ing more as well, but they will have to improve their Stems feature first.

    Hey I've got a question between the Serato DJ (not pro) vs. Rekordbox.
    So we have our very first gig coming up and we would like to have HID display whilst playing. Not having Serato DJ Pro, we're unable to do plug and play with the CDJs & DJM Mixers, but i've seen a tutorial online where it's possible to do plug and play with Rekordbox so long as you can switch to performance mode, given you need 3 usb cables and usb ports. Correct me if i'm wrong?

  • @julianfink2683
    @julianfink2683 Před 6 lety +2

    For me the biggest problem with serato dj is that it don't recognize bpm jumps in a song
    For me it's a big problem couse I often play tracks that have different bpm in the break's wich makes it impossible to analyse them well
    Don't now if recordbox can but I will test that

    • @zombiefighterxxl931
      @zombiefighterxxl931 Před rokem

      rekordbox can but beat shifts never get scanned right anyway. i tried doing it manually sometimes in rekordbox but still not quite right maybe its just me... im just leave a note like bpm change hotcue 5 so i know because after the change its usually right again but the change itself nah idc man its just always wrong.

    • @zombiefighterxxl931
      @zombiefighterxxl931 Před rokem

      btw i would change the standard scann setting to fixed bpm because if u got something with a fixed bpm like most songs do the bpm will always change a little bit during the track if u have set it to dynamic which is annyoing. if u know theres a bpm change u can still scann it in dynamic mode or just set it manually.

    When I started on WEGO 4, I use Virtural DJ 8. I recommend that one for beginners. I knew I didn't want to deal with Serato DJ 4 most of my DJ friends and venues in my city uses CDJs with DM 900 or 2000 mixer with Rekordbox. Since I want to play out, I had to purchase a DJ equipment that use Rekordbox. I got the Pioneer DDJ 400 with Rekordbox DJ. Learning to organize my track library but enjoy the controller a great deal. I say choose what is best for you. TLM is right. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Personal preference is key. Don't allow other to sway you here or there. Try them both out and see what fix you.

    Personal experience right here...
    Decided to make the switch to Rekordbox and got the DDJ-1000.. it’s an amazing controller. As for the software, it was OK. It needs work, especially with analyzing files. It is not up to par with Serato.
    Fast forward a month... I now own a DDJ-SX3. That’s how much the Rekordbox software bothered me lol. #serato all day

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  Před 5 lety

    • @djglennb736
      @djglennb736 Před 5 lety

      DJ TLM TV it was the analyzing. It’s just... idk... different, I guess. The grids were constantly off. I did not wanna go through thousands of songs to correct the grids.
      Might be a personal issue, lol. But when Serato has it down to a T... you can’t compare to it. Other than the program... the controller itself is amazing. Wish it was serato compatible!

  • @duboi1475
    @duboi1475 Před 6 lety +7

    My take would be if you are just starting out go with rekordbox because it has more options (IE CDJS + controllers + DVS)
    If you are already using another program that supports your hardware and you are used to (unless you really want the 1000 or to use The DMX box or Lyric) There’s really nothing game changing to warrant the switch.

    • @TITANoner
      @TITANoner Před 6 lety +3

      Now that Serato has moved to 2.0, they said there are plans to include the DDJ 1000 Serato compatible. So it's not like the DDJ 1k is going to be RB exclusive forever. Its just because Pioneer didn't have the limitation that Serato does software wise supporting the controller.
      I would say it also has to do with the kind of DJ you see yourself being. I use Rekordbox because it's Pioneer software and clubs in my area stick to Pioneer gear in the clubs. So I get more mileage and flexibility using Rekordbox than Serato could hope to offer. Don't know and you're mainly be sticking to a controller? Go Serato. While the Pack thing was a turn off for me, it's a great DJ software that offers a lot of flexibility, even if you do have to pay more in the long run. Plan on live performing with maybe an interest in DJing? Traktor. It offers a myriad of ways to launch samples, songs, and other things. Even NI will tell you though that's it's not really aimed at DJs. So while it does work for that, you're not using much of what it offers.

    • @duboi1475
      @duboi1475 Před 6 lety +1

      TITANoner I hope they do incorporate other software to the DDJ1000 ... I’m mainly breaks/house in my library but use to use DJAY pro / Spotify to play around with Hip Hop/r&b / and other genres that I don’t actually purchase on my RX ... miss being able to do that on the 1k

    Yes, agree with Du Boi. I did order the DDJ 1000 and have the DMX R 1 box already ( backorder until June now ) ( DDJ 1000 backorder till ????? ) in Pioneer forum there saying " did not expect so many pre order's". But am willing to wait for it. Just because it near all in one, plus with the controller, you get record-box and lighting software free with the purchase. I am a Denon x1800 and SC 5000 fan but want Pioneer for my back up. If I could afford the Pioneer nexus units, good chance would go that way but I am not rich so 1200 and near the nexus system, yea good bang for the buck. yes I know I paid 6 K for the Denon system but I have 2 players each side and no there not a toy, look at who is using them now or switched, still love Pioneer. Software yea it is what you tase is agree so much there also.Keep up the great work TLM!

      they have 2 SC5000s set up on an S9 at my local guitar center and I’ve played around with them... great decks... haven’t used them with engine prepped files and they haven’t updated the firmware so the ones they have I have to analyze on the fly ... can see all the potential... my only complaint with them would be the touch capacitive jogs... I just like the click of the mechanical ... but if I were to really invest in 2 players and a mixer I would probably go with either the denon prime series or the rane at this time (because I basically have cdjs/djm 900 covered with the 1000 & overall I think the denon system is more bang for the buck)

    • @jameshill3425
      @jameshill3425 Před 6 lety +1

      Yea I agree with the touch capacitive/mechanical jog's! Funny you say that Mojax is hard on this subject, but you do get the feel of it. SC 5000 and the new DDJ 1000 are just the opposite so I guess I will get to know both. But yea Denon SC 5000 are great .... kinda do not like using Seroto tho ..... kinda takes from the player.Thanks for the reply, wish you the best! I watch many DJ on youtube and it's nice we help each other, on advice. TLM has a good channel here, he takes a lot of time to help DJ's. Funny some are so stuck up. I have been DJing for over 20 years.I learn every day! I will never think I have the best equipment nor am I the best DJ, we are all unique in our own way, we all have different sound. Because you have never seen a DJ rock up with a USB that is D.O.A.??
      We all use digital data and have to use it smart or it will be flakey, a usb failing is more likely than a laptop failing if it is a strictly DJ laptop.

    • @bboymac84
      @bboymac84 Před 6 lety

      actually flash drives can fail, get corrupt, just stop working, etc etc.
      Having a back up should just be part of your work flow, and if you have a USB issue you are toast. if my laptop fails, i have just prepped USBs and an aux with my phone plugged in ready to rock and roll.
      i have saved many USB only DJs because they thought 2 USBs and headphones is all you need.

    I love pioneer gear that all Ive ever played on even in my Traktor days, RKBOX is my choice now and I do like it beat grid could be a little better but its growing fast, I recently brought the DDJ 1000 controller and its a nice well put together controller but you must understand the design to really appreciate it, if you are into software effects and really love watching the computer I really think theres better controllers SX2 AND RX offers more of a Rekordbox template layout for the software, the bigger jogs thats really the main selling point on the 1000 the on board effects are nice but can be a little misuderstood on the parameter side if you never used a independent mixer,But I wound never switch software just to use any particular controller especially a controller its always something new waiting, Wait a while third parties are working on it, VDJ already mapped out the 1000 knowing Serato have the ability to image their BPM and track info as the did on the latest NS6 it wont be long IMO.

      DJ😈cranium😈1210😈 you definitely can use the usb instead of your Hard drive as the root drive for your database. If you mean when you Import into rekordbox will rekordbox also move or save the mp3s to your HD? No. You will have to copy them from your USB to your computer and then import them to rekordbox.
      Or if you go ahead and use the usb as your root and prepare your hot cues etc as normal and decide you want to move the files to your computer or an external hard drive later you don’t have to redo all your hot cues etc. Rekordbox does offer a way to “relocate” missing files that are in your database but it can’t find. There are several videos demonstrating this already just search locate missing files or moving database in rekordbox

    Just switched to RB 1 week ago with my new xdj rx2.
    Not really satisfied!!!
    Missing Serato loyalty 😥😥😥

      I did switch cause I needed a standalone controller...
      Rx2 was the only Pioneer option.

    can you please tell me why when i use the keylock feature in serato my songs sounds like a scratch record?

      @djTLMtv  Před 6 lety

      Please define what a scratch record sounds like so ai understand what you mean.
      Second question: ar you using serato scratch live or serato dj?
      Third question: if you are using serato dj, are you using it with the pitch n time expansion?

    I bought DDJ 1000 and I hate the rekordbox. It is so glitchy with countless useless functions.

      I'm not sure if I understand. Are you saying that if someone uses Rekordbox DJ or Traktor or VDJ that they are not a DJ?
