- Torren Martyn has travelled to Indonesia each year of his adult life. He reconnects with friends he has made there and puts in plenty of time in the ocean. He has a deep love, connection and gratitude for this part of the world that has given him so much.
When surfers arrange their lives in advance to be somewhere for waves it’s always a roll of the dice. This trip a group of close childhood friends from Torren’s home town had planned an Indo boat trip to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Fortunately the Indian Ocean delivered. Torren’s friend Nick Colbey is a talented character. He gets heavily barrelled in this clip and plays one of the backing tracks. Torren’s dedication to Indonesia shows as he mostly rides a 6’10” Simon Jones channel bottom twin fin very well in these challenging waves. With two more back-to-back swells pushing in soon after the boat docked, Torren veered into the domestic section of the airport to island hop into a few more perfect waves. Turn up the soundtrack, sit back and enjoy what’s being shown On The Light Side.

My god! they scored mega waves and yeah i never knew how skilled torryn was! What an eye opener! Making some heavy chandelier sections on his backhand that were ridiculous! And that board... the soundtrack... the slick production.... short and sweet. A masterwork of the sub-genre.

I had to stop watching at 505. I was gettin a 1970's vibe just before you switched to black and white footage, I was groovin. Then the music changed, the waves got heavy, the tube rides twisted my mind. I felt like I was starting to hallucinate. I have been sober for years. I will watch later when the buzz is gone. Perfect timing...I just picked up 3 days ago a 6' 4' twin here in Costa Rica. Needed something to get me amped again after a near month of smaller surf. Holly S..t! On my 3rd surf I caught the best wave of 2020, so far. I think I found my new "Zen Twin Surf Master" in Torren. Already loved his style on other equipment, but he is my hero now. Pura Vida 2020!!!

He rides 'morning of the earth' surfboards, not cheap....watch the surf film of the same name for some rootsy 70s soul. You'll never be the same afterwards....

Ok, where to start... that session with orange shirt guy goes down as the best cave dwelling / pit-packing documented this year, if not ever. Next, i dont know who this guy is but he is suddenly my favorite surfer.. and I dont ever like weird boards and twin fins and stuff. this is an epic vid, I can honestly say maybe the best bit of surfing iv seen at all. thank you for the stoke.
