The songs from this movie and the movie itself are criminally underrated..The critics lambasted this film and the music and I'll never know why...This songs are as much a part of my Christmas celebration as any carol you can name

Agree wholeheartedly. I didn’t see Scrooge until I was married and had a little one. I was 10 when this movie came out but parents were not very christmasy. Anyway, once I saw it, it became a standard with my kids. In fact a few years back, my adult sons bought me the soundtrack on vinyl - one of my favorite gifts ever ❤️
@@Hunkydorrie Yup, I,m 26 and my dad "forced" me to watch this when I was about 5..He asked me to just give it a chance...After about 10 mins, i was hooked..lol..Thanks Dad..:)

In my mind this is the best and most underrated version of a Christmas Carol. Not that I don’t love other ones but there’s just something really special about this one.
My parents introduced me to this wonderful movie as a child, as I have to my children. The best Christmas Carol movie in my opinion, and has become a family tradition which always brings back memories

This is definitely the best scrooge version. I still watch it and love it. The soundtrack is fabulous.
Have you ever seen that website collider? They list this version as the worst. This is definitely the best. Albert Finney won best actor at the golden globes for this movie. Who else has won a golden globe for a Christmas movie?
@@Aaron-ox8ye You're right but because Patton was a terrific film and Geo. C. Scott was so outstanding in it, is why Scrooge and Albert Finney weren't awarded in 1970 for their efforts!!!!!

@@Aaron-ox8ye I know but the Academy Awards are still considered the top awards of all films of the year. 1970 was an interesting year for movies and many actors were marvelous and only 1 can win in each category. You had Patton, Mash, Tora Tora Tora, Scrooge and several other films that could have gotten the award but Patton was so great that they gave the award to that almost automatically! And you had Geo C. SCOTT, Elliott Gould, Albert Finney, Melvyn Douglas and others worthy of the Best Actor Oscar but Geo.C Scott bested everybody else in that category. Besides musicals were becoming unlikely to win Best Picture anymore, as Oliver! In 1968 being one of the last films to be considered, and that film was even better than Scrooge!!!!!
@@scottmiller6495 I just don't remember anyone else winning any awards for Christmas movies. My main complaint is websites that try to trash the film. I grew up watching this and it will always be my favorite. I do really like the Alastair Sim one a lot also and of course Scrooged and Mickey's Christmas Carol
It's a shame how underrated this song is. Personally I think it's one of the better ones from the musical.
The best Scrooge! Albert Finney was just superb..Found the soundtrack ( vinyl) years ago and painstakingly digitalised it. I love all the songs..especially this one and as well ‘The beautiful day’ which has always brought tears to my eyes.🎄☃️❄️

Saw this for the first time on Christmas Eve 1980 on Irish TV. Wonderful stuff. Marley taking Scrooge through the air scared the life out of me when I was a smallie. No as I re watch, it was such fun and the kids are adoreable....Merry Christmas to all.

Lovely reading these comments of how much this film means to folk. I was born in 1972 England and I must have seen this flick when I was about 9 then EVERY Christmas there after we had to watch it on TV as a family, it was as much part of our family Christmas as the Turkey and presents. Childhood is now over, mum n dad have sadly passed on, all there are is memories and the tradition of still watching this wonderful film ever Christmas with my kids.
I was atheist, but JESUS SAVED me in 1972! I woke up Christmas Morning Born Again! GLORY! GOD had me walk HOLY for nearly 25 years, then said, Offer your father Salvation!
So I asked Daddy if he would pray with me and he said YES! I prayed with him, and the LORD sanctified him MANY years afterward. Daddy went Home in 2010 with the testimony, "I've received the LORD! I'm READY to go!" HalleluJah! Mama had been our example all my life. She had gotten weak from trials and tribulations, (including Daddy's alcoholic rages, and MY explosions of "You forgot my cigarettes?") When Mama left for Home from a heart attsck, my brother told us the scene! He was giving her artificial respiration, but she pushed him away. Then she smiled at him, laughed out LOUD, and he felt her Spirit jerk upwards! GLORY to GOD! We're gonna have a GREAT family reunion some day SOON JESUS is on His way back to receive us unto HIMSELF! I'm so EXCITED! 😇🙏🙌

My parents are elderly, but still kicking, thank god. I have such memories of us watching this all those years ago. I don't have any kids, so one day when it's just me ill watch it myself and remember

I Love this version of a Christmas Carol, although, I also love the Muppet Version. For me, they're a tie.
I love this version of Scrooge! I'm torn between my love of the music in this one and the acting in the 1984 version with George C. Scott!

Where did you find the soundtrack? I have looked for years. Would love to find it on itunes, but they very rarely have anything this vintage.
I found it in a folder on Internet a few years ago, but not on iTunes.

Do you have the whole soundtrack by chance? This is such a great version of Scrooge and my whole family would watch it every year but unfortunately I can never find it on T.V. anymore. Come to think of it, I believe we had a VHS copy.
