Itâs Fearless Friday - so I am here with a C Hohner harmonica, breaking down a fast lick slowly, which is the only way to REALLY get it down. I have been teaching Blues Harmonica worldwide for over 30 years, and performing professionally the world over for just as long. Currently performing, touring and recording with the Nick Moss Band ("Band Of The Year" 2024 Blues Music Awards) signed on Alligator Records.
I have also collected, rebuilt and restored thousands of vintage blues harmonica mics and bullet microphones, including Astatic JT-30, Astatic T-3, Shure Green Bullet, 707A, Turner bullet mics and many more.
Some of my favorite players who I studied are: james cotton, big walter horton, little walter, papa lightfoot, george harmonica smith, junior wells, sonny boy williamson, william clarke, kim wilson, rod piazza, steve guyger, jim liban, rick estrin, jason ricci, ronnie shellist, adam gussow, and many more...

Gorgeous riff! Cheers đ„
"Play it clean"
Different licks sometimes takes a little different technique to execute cleanly.
By slowing it down, and maybe looping that phrase, you're able to listen and figure out what it takes to play it cleanly.
Thanks Dennis....wise words indeed.
And the phrases you're teaching are killer! đđ
@@harpbaby1 thank you! Many times, when working on fast phrases, players get them wrong because either A) they canât really hear or tell all the notes and sounds being played, and/or B) they just donât have the control or technique to do them as someone else does. So the key really is to slow them down and do them piece by piece by piece, clean and clear, then build up speed. You donât necessarily have to clean up the âdirtâ in a phrase if it is deliberate, but even slowing down and figuring out how a âdirtyâ sound is played will help you be able to play it fast once you learn it correctly đ
Absolutely. You're a great teacher Dennis.
As always, thank you, thank you, thank you.
