  • Rolex’s Submariner line has seen a number of changes since its inception. This model, the Rolex Submariner Reference 16613, is one of the most elegant, under appreciated of the line.
    It’s also available in the T&H Watch Shop:

    Today, Christian dives into the Rolex "Serti" Submariner, one of the single most underrated of the entire Submariner family! Quirky and uncommon Rolex models, if not popular at the time of their initial release, become some of the most desirable on the market. The reference 16613 Submariner is a two-tone Sub with a blue bezel and sapphires at the 12, 6, and 9 o'clock markers and diamonds for the others. It's called the "Serti," after the French word meaning "to set" as in gems in a jewelry setting.
    For a very long time, Rolex existed in two worlds: the first, incredibly durable steel sport watches like the Submariner and the Explorer, and the second, impressively luxurious dress watches like the Day-Date and Datejust. With the introduction of their first yellow gold Submariner, however, everything changed, and soon the sense of luxury crept beyond the precious metal models into two tone and, eventually, even into the standard steel with white gold surrounds for the lumed hour markers.
    The "Serti," then, exists in a bit of a strange spot, as it is very much the luxury end of the Submariner world, but still somehow manages to retain a nature that is undervalued, likely because there are simply a ton of them out there. Nobody has decided to create a sense of artificial rarity surrounding these models yet. There's no evil plot to drive prices up. At between $9-10k, they somehow find themselves on the low end of the Submariner market these days, and as long as the geeks continue to treat the model with some respect and reverence, odds are it will stay that way.

      If you don't like the prices then don't pay. Can you get a cheaper watch off of Ebay? Yes, but it won't come serviced and under a warranty. This channel is built and made to support their shop and it is very transparent-something that I think is a good thing.

    • @BradGreenstein
      @BradGreenstein Před 5 lety +3

      Garrett Janssen I agree 100% although I’m not sure it’s transparent to all....most I believe feel this is a completely objective and unbiased review of a Submariner reference...not a long sales job. I’m not sure this a sustainable practice if he grows his business

      @@BradGreenstein I bet it's precisely this format that has grown the business. I actually prefer it in a way because I never have to wonder if he's getting paid on the quiet to say something nice.
      Straight up review based channels are not much better. Often they have Amazon shops which brings them revenue. They're just usually nowhere near as polished as T&H.

    Great video!! I honestly, love how this looks on you! For Real!! I know you are not into the mega sports watch, but shit man - it really kicks ass AND with a strap option!!! Holy Jeebus!!! Bloody exciting to wear something like this because of the versatility. I wouldn't call it the ONE watch at all, but certainly one hell of a solid vacation watch or weekender. IF you had to have one watch, this would not be a bad one to be able to match in most situations. Blue oxford and white selvedge denim with some brown sperry's.... yup!

    What a fascinating example... it's blingy as hell when seen up close, but it doesn't demand the attention of anyone within a 50ft radius like the gummy bear does. This is definitely way more coin than I'd wear on my wrist, and I normally prefer cool modern style over bling... but damn that's pretty.
