I just started trying to use Google Photos to organize a ton of pictures with tax/IRS info and was so disappointed that there's still no concept of a "folder". I know when you said "folder" , you really meant "album", which is more of a LABEL (which can be applied to more than one photo) than a FOLDER (one file can only be in one folder). The problem is that there's no concept of moving a photo from folder to folder, which means you don't have the ability to perform a process of elimination. And as an example of the side effect, if you want to upload files from folders with important names, you lose those names. If you want something with a folder structure you have to use something like Google Drive or Flickr or DropBox or Immich or a few others, which is what I'm trying to decide on right NOW! :)
Hi Jenna, u mentioned uploading your phone images to google photos and deleting it from your phone. How do u literally go about doing this? What settings and process do u use to achieve this? 1. When you upload images to google photo I assume you are using the sync function. 2. I tried that but if I then turn off the sync function after the upload, my pixel phone is still showing the backed up images… I appreciate any additional tips u could give. Thanks!
Jenna, thank you for the video. My drag-and-drop doesn't work and when I assign a picture to an album it will still keep it with my other pictures. If I delete it from the pictures, it is gone from the album too. Am I missing a setting? What am I doing wrong? Thanks
The drag and drop-make sure it’s on the main page. All photos stay in the main area so it doesn’t remove them from the larger are. Don’t delete the photos it will delete them from albums. You can remove images from albums and it won’t delete the photos but don’t delete them from the main area
Question.I have my pictures on google photos.i got alot albums in library i want to reoragize them.but i dont want to delete and loss them.i want to erase all library and make new album and to organize all them.any easy way to do it

google photo is shit.. you organizing you photo on your phone in separate folder BUT when uploaded to GP its all a miss up.. because you cant upload a folder all pphoto are separate by date and you have to go through all photo ....
You're bragging about Google photos and how great it is, your title says you will show how to ORGANIZE. Which you didn't do. How do you create a folder and transfer all the pictures into that folder once it's already on Google photos? How DO YOU declutter? Everybody knows how to search!!!
Thanks for the info! I have a few questions about uploading home videos to Google photos. I have a few hundred hours of old family videos I've converted from my old VHS tapes and want a searchable repository for them. Is Google photos the answer. Can google photos tag people (Jane) within videos so I can search for them and find videos with them in it? If it does, how does the people tagging work? What happens when I then search a video for a person (Jane) and they are only in one small portion of the video? Does google photos give me the whole video file or just a clip? Please let me know if you have any experience or thoughts on this. Thanks!!
Hi I do the same thing. Videos are a bit tricky but google usually does find their faces! So yes you can add people you may have to add their faces via photos first over different times/ages to let google know they are the same person. Even if in part. Sometimes it doesn’t work but I’d say 80% of the time it works. You can search via their contact name for the videos they are in

Is the date organized by the date the photo was taken, or date date the photo was last edited, or the date when it is uploaded?

Yep! You can open an album and drag and drop into it. It also gets added to the entire library
