- Hey Everyone!
I purchased the Cobb adjustable short shifter. It was my first time installing a short shifter. I tried finding a video tutorial for the Evo X, but I didn't find many. So here's a short video. It was fairly simple. It only took me about 30 minutes to install.
Feel free to leave any comments or questions!
Thanks for watching!

Came for the EVO, stayed for the stash.
Joe Momma lmfao
You beat me to it by a mere 3 years
The throw still seems pretty long?
Dude you seem like such a nice and chilled out guy, keep up the videos man!!
+LazyTrollers Thanks dude! I really appreciate it! :D I figure if I'm nice and chill then so will everyone else (hopefully)
love your car vids! its good to learn when you watch someone do things. hopefully youll do evo vlogs :)
Thanks! That means a lot! I'm working on a short video right now from doing a few pulls this passed weekend. I'll be posting it later this week 😁👍🏽
Love it!
Nice stache bro!
+Piti Pablo Thanks Brutha!
Make more videos bro im here supporting you!!
Douglas Allen thanks brotha! I really appreciate it 🙏🏽
you should have a tutorial on how to drive stick i like how the cameras are outside as well inside the car. most tutorials are inside the car. i like the cameras.
+Jonathon Wright Thanks brutha! If my girlfriend is around I usually have her help me get different angles, but for this video I had to do it all myself. I wish I was able to get better angles for everyone, but I did the best I could.
That's funny you mentioned a tutorial on driving stick shift. I've been thinking about it for awhile, and I'll probably make the video through teach my girlfriend :)
Hey man, love the sound of your car. Just wondering if you know if that short shifter would fit on a base model lancer 5 speed manual?
Thanks man! Unfortunately, I sold the evo earlier this year. I miss her. Tbh, I’m not sure if it fits, but Cobb stopped making short shifters for Mitsubishi a few years ago. So if you find one swoop it up!
your car sounds so good
Thanks dude! :)
Epic moustache man.
The white plastic base, do they make ones that are all metal? It looks like that is the part that flexes a lo and replacing it would do a great deal to reduce it.
Haha thanks Man! Yeah, there are companies that do make metal ones 💪🏽😏
I believe so. I've seen some on the forums and on instagram. idk if they're custom made or not. But I have seen them
do u know where the shifter cable is so i can put some new bushings in.
+Jody Bryan Did you feel a difference in the shifting or anything. The most annoying thing have is that I get locked out of Reverse and 1st gear in the mornings
It wasn't a huge difference, but there definitely was a difference. Yeah, I have trouble getting into first in the mornings as well. I really like the adjustable height though.
thumbs up for non stealth version, when stuff in car is business it should look business
+dzzejkop Thanks man! Yeah, I thought it looked cool. And it also help with functionality as well. If I need to adjust my shifter height I don't have to pop off the center console to get to the hex nuts. They're just exposed now for easy adjusting :)
+Jody Bryan boost gauge next ? :)
Haha yeah. I've just been using my Cobb Accessport as my boost gauge. But I plan on doing a double or tripped boost gauge pod. I'm just deciding if I want it on the pillar or on the dash XD
+Jody Bryan I see sum1 is Cobb fanboi :D I used to mount mine on right side of dash covering speedo and tachometer so its visible while having vision on road ( not like I was driving rocket racecar and amount of boost was crucial but it looked good :p )
Haha I guess, they're just easy because they're down the street from me. So I can just go over there if i need anything. But that's where I had mine too. But then I took it off for awhile. It's been really hot so I didn't want it to get sun damaged.
And also, the higher you adjust it, obviously the throw will be longer, defeating the purpose of a short shifter. I think the adjustment of the short shifter is from the lower pivot part
+datstocklyfe Yeah, the distance between gears wasn't a huge difference, but I was definitely able to tell a difference between the stock and the Cobb. As far as the length I wanted to make it as close to the steering wheel as possible so the when I have both hands on the steering wheel the distance between the steering wheel and shifter knob are closer. Similar to the race cars from the JGTC Super Time Attack and the Super Taikyu Race series, or even the WRC cars that have the shifter basically next to the steering wheel.
Leather e brake cover where do u get it?
Dude your mustache haha 😎
That's an awesome stash
how did you take off the spring section on the left side of the shift assembly?
+Lvskater09 You should be able to wiggle it off. Just remember the direction the spring faces for when you reinstall it.
Looking for short shifter too, for my evo x. Can u link the same one you bought.
+DiSaSteR LIVE Aw man, I had no idea but they just discontinued them! I live right next to Cobb and I called my buddy Reggie over there and he broke the news to me that no won't produce these anymore :/ Sorry dude! I've had the TWM short shifter on my 350Z, and I liked that one as well. It will be a similar install. So whichever short shifter you get you can watch my video. Sorry brutha!
Hey I've been looking the same product but everywhere I look they are discontinued or only fit Wrx/sti any help of where I can buy one would be helpful!!!!!
Hey dude! Yeah, Cobb discontinued them for our car :/ But WORKS and Torque Solutions still make short shifters for our car. There are shops all around me. So I usually go to them for parts, but if they don't have what I need I usually go to LancerShop.com. I hope that helps!
+Jody Bryan thanks man! Yeah I was looking into those but I like the fact of the double adjustment feature that Cobb has. Hopefully I find one
Aww, yeah… try ebay :/
That mustache must makes you wanna drive fast
muito top
Does this short shifter fit all 08-15 evo x? I'm finding it hard to find out if it would fit on my 2014 gsr
Hey dude! Yes, they fit all years for the Evo X.
+Jody Bryan where did you buy it at?
+David Avalos everywhere I look is says it was discontinued.. except this sketchy looking website lol
what song btw your car amazing broo 😊😊
+Haiey Yortex Thanks dude! The artist is Inukshuk, and the song is called, "Happy Accidents."
how's the rattle on your shift cables? and do you mind sharing the fix if you have one.
I only had the rattle on my shift cables when I first got the car. Over time the rattle went away. How old is your evo?
+Jody Bryan it's a 15, after 8k I started hearing the dang thing.
+Jody Bryan I guess I'll give it some time and see if it goes away. anyway, you should do more Evo x updates man. and thanks.
Hmmm, do you hear it when you're going through all the gears? Or just the first 2 or 3 gears? Mine would happen shifting between 1st-3rd. But eventually it went away.
I know, I've been meaning to make more. I've just been so slammed with work and everything.
+Jody Bryan I have it on fifth and sometime on 2nd and 3rd while doing wot. but the fifth is the most annoying.
does this fix the 2nd and 3rd gear grinding and bangin when you shift to those gears?
+tarugo1993 How old is your Evo? When I first got mine it did that for the first 5k miles, but eventually went away. The car has a break-in period where everything feel kinda weird.
2014 17.5k miles :\
tarugo1993 Hmmmm, that's weird… It should've been good by now. Did you ask your service dept at your dealer? Is it super cold where you live?
live here at chicago IL. usually, after 20-30 mins of driving iti wont feel any of those problem...or maybe like REALLY low chance
+tarugo1993 get a heavyweight shift knob. I had the same problem at low mileage and that fixed it. Happy boosting!
Linford Christie could run the 100m between those shifts
Do you live in the bay? I think I've seen your car around. However, I could be wrong.
+JohnsonDaPanda Hey dude, I actually live in SoCal. But we were in the bay on vacation recently.
who did you bought it from because i cant find it anywhere online
+Oscar Cabrera They should have them at Cobb. Where are you located? The Cobb in California has them
Hey dude, sorry I just checked for you... but i guess they discontinued them 😔
+Jody Bryan I am on Arizona. Thanks for checking men I really appreciate that , I will keep looking maybe some shop in town still have one.
+Oscar Cabrera of course man. Hopefully you can find one. But if you can't find the Cobb one I also like the TWM shirt shifter as well 👌🏽
Mr. Suave. hahahahaha
the inside looks plain.. but evo is nice ride. I own one. hehe
what shift knob is that?
+Esteban Gonzalez It's the weighted shift knob by MXP
What blow off valve do you have?
I have the dual port TurboSmart BOV: www.turbosmartdirect.com/Product-Categories/Dual-Port-Type-5-BOV-BPVs/
Jody Bryan I appreciate it man thanks! Nice vids too!
No worries brutha! Thanks!

Yeah man, I love it! I like the "swoosh" better than the whistle :)
This man look like jonny dep
シフトストローク長いですね
CAEの方が良さそう
put the boot over the shifter if you already adjusted it. that Nasty ass wrinkled up boot looks gross if it's pushed down
adjustable height beats the point of a short shifter

+Pedro Soliz Because I like it, lol
what's wrong with this clown?
