    Another excellent take we have come to expect from you! While I am optimistic that Branden barring injury will ultimately be judged as a great pick. However like many others I don’t understand the apparent lack of urgency throughout the past decade relative to the o-line.
    Based on what the new ownership inherited, basically problems everywhere. I’m not surprised that haven’t been able to solve everything yet. Based on all that they have already addressed, I’m confident by this time next year the o line for all practical purposes will be in a whole lot better shape!

      Let's face it, the entire team didn't perform very well last year. O-line,D-line, db's, wr's not named Terry McLaurin, special teams, rb's(Robinson was decent even with the weak o-line play, I know Robinson can do much more damage with stronger o-line play) Qb play was bad, just flat out bad. Howell had a ton of missed opportunities, he had wr's wide open and didn't throw it, he was very bad at the long ball, he missed so bad on some wide open deep passes that would have been walk in touch downs, just not very good overall but I get it and I definitely don't place all the blame on Howell since he had horrible protection with none to very little time to make a decision and was running for his life all season. We can definitely improve everywhere from last season

    Lucas- Wylie- Biadasz- Cosmi- Coleman.. would kinda make some sense. Let the rookie play RT this year & then move to LT next year / later in the year. Braeden Daniels might surprise some this year and Allegretti, Stromberg & Paul all have a chance to take the LG spot as well

    I think it’s fine if we take kelvin and just convert Coleman to LG.. you could’ve taken a cooper beebe, or you can take a flier on a potential tackle who we can just convert to G if it doesn’t work out. Basically like Cosmi. OR he does work out, maybe we take Banks or Campbell to play RT next year. Either way I don’t think it comes out looking like a wasted pick if we draft a T next year

    A team that finishes 4-13 can't cover every hole in one offseason. Washington was in a tough spot because while we had the #2 pick, our next selection was in Round 2, we didn't have that pick in the late teen or early 20's to take an offensive tackle when that run started and none of the teams in that grouping of picks was willing to trade down when Peters called them.
    Looking at their draft bios, I am not at all sure that Patrick Paul or Kingsley Suamataia that were taken in Round 2 and early in Round 3 that fans were clamoring for are better prospects than Brandon Coleman.
    My guess is OT will be the team's #1 pick in 2025. Coleman if playing LT will tough it out and give 100% and then move inside where a number of scouts think he can be a pro bowler. So, I don't think this team misses a beat.
    People are worried about LT, but the truth is Daniels is going to get hit regardless. Teams often attack straight up the gut on key passing downs and that means testing those 3 interior linemen. Look at San Francisco, Trent Williams was a pro bowler again, but the pressure on the right side of the line over RG and especially RT lead to a lot of pressure on Purdy.
    IMO Braeden Daniels is a bust. You take a guy with a #4 pick and then stashing him on IR with a weak injury shows the club under Rivera was trying to cover up a draft mistake. He wasn't even good enough to be a depth player on a line that had the likes of Nick Gates and Chris Paul. BTW, Chris Paul got a PFF grade of 37 for 2023. That was the worst rating for a player who received the number of snaps he did at LG.
    We can use the 'if wishes were fishes' type argument to hope Daniels could gain 30 pounds and move inside. Daniels is not a #1 pick where a club is going to let him take 3-4 years to try and develop into a capable contributor because of the investment in him.

    • @LockedOnCommanders
      @LockedOnCommanders Před 27 dny +8

      We also discussed him explicitly as a TACKLE. He also played GUARD. And several, if not most, talent evaluators projected his skills to GUARD in the NFL. But Washington clearly thinks they can convert those talents to TACKLE at the pro level, hence why we discussed him playing TACKLE for the Commanders. I think what you want is a full breakdown of Coleman’s play history which is not what this episode is for. Thanks for watching 🫡

    Not bringing in Bakhtiari is unforgivable at this point. Lucus vs Coleman does not inspire confidence. Yes Bakhtiari has had injury issues, but even if he only played 5-75% of snaps, he is a Pro Bowler and not only allows you to move Oline around if needed, he would give you what every other FA brought in offers......a steady vet to help the rest get better at the position. Same can be said with Gilmore. Not making these moves just re-enforces to us fans the coaches do not see us contending. They are doing "enough" to claim success....6-8 wins.They are gonna push as much $$ over to next next, goind so far as to likely piece out Allen and Payne for Draft capital. They are gonna build through draft (like they said many times). They not gonna do big $$$ contracts for at least another season or two.
