- On Tuesday, Dubai was hit with severe flooding after two years' worth of rain fell in just 24 hours - over half a foot, according to the Dubai Meteorological Office.
Dubai receives only 3.12 inches of rain per year on average.

You don't route storm water into sewers. That's how you destroy your treatment plants and cause floods of raw sewage.

Other countries and large cities are building huge underground water reservoirs in which rainwater can be collected during storms. This is everywhere, all over the world, among major cities that weren't built by idiots.
@@johnperic6860 They do in Britain. The water companies then pour the untreated sewage straight into rivers. It's not legal, but they do it anyway.

It's a desert. No ability to deal with this in the infastructure. Like severe heat and drought in Russia or snow in Southern Texas. Very hard to deal with unusual weather because you don't build for it in the infrastructure. Global climate change is very real. Also I hope the children of Dubai got to enjoy this, that it was fun and new and exciting for them. Hear the happy baby and all the birds sing at the end?

Fantastic news in the long term. Such huge rainfalls will create underground aquifers forming natural water tables in and around the region. This, in return, will create many an oasis and will indeed return flora around the peninsula - with muscat being a fine example.
It may be best that any future projects should be considered to be built in the seas - just like Venice.

Weather happens all over the world every year. I got flooded out on February 2nd this year. The river rose and I lost alot but I don't see that on the news. This video shows nothing of harm. Grow up
