A suggestion for rain pouring off of a tarp or a tent when there is debris on the ground. Pull the debris towards the tarp to create a pile. Make sure its pulled back behind where the rain is puddling. It will act as a splash guard. Which helps keep gear under the tarp dry.
Smart!
Great idea!!!
This guy isn’t there for all that, he bought a backpack off Amazon with a coupl bs gadgets and a lawn chair lol
@@garypayne785 you need maybe a pill mate
@@garypayne785 what is he suppose to bring? Lmao, you sound bitter af
I lost my 17 year old cat last July.
He loved to camp.
I have new kitten, I hope he learns to enjoy it too.
God Bless our Fur~Babies. 💞
Sleeping in a tent in steady rain is so relaxing.
✌❤🤘
I completely understand.
Our pets are our little gifts from God...
I love falling asleep to the sound of the rain. So soothing. Thank you for taking us along.
Luke, this is one of the reasons why I love watching your videos. Not only are you willing to get out when the weather gets interesting, but you get excited about it. You have inspired me to get out whenever time allows and when the weather takes a turn. I live in Nebraska, so that normally means getting out and making a shelter and fire when it gets cold. I still need to work with really raining situations. Great job!
His excitement about the storm actually makes me think about my childhood memory. Luke still got that childlike innocence, awesome.
So sorry for the loss of your dog. I know exactly how that feels. I absolutely love your channel. I am a weather spotter/ chaser For the national weather service here in Wisconsin so your weather videos are my absolute favorites and you do a lot of them. I think you are by far the best channel out there for this type of thing. You are so extremely knowledgeable, I learn something from every video. Thank you!!
That tarp is huge!
You could hold a Rock Concert under there. Well done Luke.
A whole troop of Boyscouts and all their gear would fit in there. LOL
🔥🤘👹👍🔥
"well OH YEAH!!!"
Our dogs never truly leave us they are with us in our hearts and minds forever the world just wouldn't be right without dogs we can learn a lot from them
Hello Luke always enjoy your adventures, stay safe and thank you for sharing.
God, I love the sound of wind thru the pines!
Me too!
Luke, hugs for the loss of your best mate....After many years of "camping" in the Australian Army I swore I would never sleep under a tarp ..or Hootchie as we call it, I spent a fortune on tents and have moved back to using a 3x3 Tarp and a Macpac Bush Cocoon....small and light set up.
As a non-coffee drinker I smile every video on how fast you fire up the stove. Keep up the good work, your channel is a good watch.
Ahh just what I needed. A calming camping adventure. In chaotic times like these you really gotta appreciate the little things.
So sorry about your dog. rip dear friend. It's never easy - lost my cat 3 years ago and I was just so heartbroken.
Loved the tarp demonstration! The Ionosphere tent is interesting too I can’t wait for my first order of Stowaway Gourmet meals to arrive and finally try them. I haven’t had any luck obtaining Real Turmat meals. If you hear of a good deal/site, do pass it on. The life-long memories with your pets are priceless to recall. I challenge you to spend one hour trying to recall all your favorite moments from past pets. You won’t regret it. Fun video Luke!
Hadn't considered using a tarp in this kind of setup. Thanks!
Keep Smilin!
As always, a great episode. You are proved that even when the weather is terrible, you can have a blast out there.
Thanks Luke
Great work, your filming made it look so cold I had to get my blanky 😍
had my new 15x15 AquaQuest tarp out for the last week testing it here in The Rockies with heavy wind and snow, absolutely bullet proof, love tarp and tent camping!
The Rockies! 💕💕💕💕
You get to live by the Rockies and I'm in shitty depressing england
Currently laid up with covid. This is just what I needed to give me hope of getting better.
I've never thought of myself as suggestible, but I'm noticing something when I watch your videos. You make coffee? I'll make a cup of tea. You check the weather? I check my local weather! You hear thunder? I pause and listen to my window sounds! It's cracking me up! I also look for rain drops on my windows in down pours. LOL. You pull the viewer into your experience.
Never camped with a tent until after having kids to watch over, always used a tarp. It is nice to see others enjoy it as much as we did. It was such a habit that even after we started using tent, we still had to string up tarp over the tarp. That really helped intercept hot sun, pine cones (the big heavy ones) and falling sticks in the wind. You bring back wonderful memories of many years ago. Keep up the good work. Thanks
I have/love that tarp, as well as the ten by ten version. Solid kit. GOOD stakes are a must.
Great video. Like you. I love the rain, storms and getting down and dirty.
Brings back so many days in both the UK and Germany.
Just cant get enough of this channel - Thank You!!!
Nice camping video. Love camping in the rain hearing thunder off in the distance so peaceful. Love your videos. ✌️
Love the versatility of that tarp (and the fact that you know how to use it). It's one thing to go out in similar weather in a Hilleberg or Exped or whatever, but doing it in a tarp is a whole 'nother thing.
Always enjoyable to watch, thanks for putting out consistently high quality stuff!
People who come up with these ideas for camping are geniuses I love these products
What a brilliant way to position the tarp! I always wonder why more people don’t put them closer to the ground during bad weather. The towel idea was awesome. You have given me some ideas when I camp this summer! Green can mean a tornado could pop up.
One thing I've loved about your channel from day1 is how you use different gear to enhance gear that may not be the greatest at times. I have cheap tents that normally I wouldn't think of using in a storm, but from you, I've taken note of how you use tarps to block the majority of rain or snow off your main tent. I've also noted various methods you've used to make a 3 season tent usable in winter as well.....Strength and Honor my friend,
Great timing I’m in upstate ny ,leave tomorrow for a extended weekend in the woods to escape the craziness that’s going on in the world right now.the only thing I’ll miss is my 4 month old puppy but just ordered him a backpack,a rainy day in nature.I’ll take it!! Thanks
I’m subscribed to your channel from 2013 ( almost 10 years) and your videos are still very interesting !
I really like that jacket. You have a great setup. If I was still active outdoors I would certainly buy almost all of it.
Cool video bud keep em coming. Hope the family's doing great. Really like the tarp used in the video too. Stay safe and be well. Strength and Honor... sorry for the loss of your dog brother it can be a painful time. There's another out there who needs your love. Don't take to long finding it.
Such a wonderful adventure. I LOVE the sound of rain. Thank you! 👌
love your channel and videos. my wife and i were touched by your comments about your dog. it’s the same words we use when explaining our relationship with our maltese. He is my 7x24 best buddy and a life force that makes the whole family happy when he is around.
I love bad weather camping. Thank you for the video.
Honestly, I think is my favorite video you’ve put up. Who needs a tent when you have a kickass tarp. Oh, the sky getting green? Usually precedes tornados.
You keep your tarp,I'll keep my tent with my floor, lol
Zpacks duplex tent, weighs 21 Oz and is lighter and sturdier than a tarp. And it has a floor.
out in tick country tents are king 😂
I love your artistic video touch, the amount of transitions in your videos is mind blowing. I could only imagine how many more steps you add to get to a hiking spot with all those different camera angles set up.
lol ikr I thought to myself, whenever he's seen walking away from the camera we know he's about to have to run back to go get it haha
@@ChristelVinot how to stay in killer shape, start a hiking gear review channel. I hate it when I think I dropped something and got to double back, he's basically doing it on purpose. It was easy to subscribe to him just for his dedication alone to be helpful
@@Bushmen918 This video is definitely good stuff. I do a lot of kayaking and record my trips. Sometimes I gotta do the same... I'll record a neat shot but need to do it over again or get another angle so I gotta paddle back up the river current to get to that spot lol. The joys of being alone and filming in nature hehe.
@@ChristelVinot subscription earned , nice channel you have.
@@Bushmen918 oh thanks!
these videos really help calm me down, thank you
Awesome tarp, I want one! I am surprised you did not capture the rain it really enlightened me to the huge amount the tarp can capture..
I agree completely that we should take along a little extra when there will be adverse weather and even non-threatening weather. As a camper of 30 years, I've found this to be useful. I just purchased a -35 deg sleeping bag. That's one thing I've been needing. With the world the way it is now, we need to be prepared. If power goes out at home, I'll have the warm sleeping bag, an alcohol burning cookstove, a butane cookstove and a tent which can be used to keep warm indoors when power is out. Also have a cot with thicker type mattress & many other useful camping items. Hopefully, I'll only need these things for camping, but nevertheless. Enjoyed your video. Your tarp really did the job.
When I was in the Adirondacks, this was my favorite way to just vibe. Set up a tarp, sit out the rain, and just be.
Now in AZ, I have to wait for Monsoon season 🤣 it's gonna get interesting.
Hi im from philippines loving your camps...makes me sleep better at night..specialy when it rains ☺️👍
There is something relaxing listening to the rain hitting the trap.
You produce such wonderful quality videos. Great storm and great advice. Loved the story about your dog. Small dogs have tons of personality, a lot of dog in a small space, they are concentratedL:) Hope you and your family will have more happy memories when thinking of her than sadness. She had a wonderful, long life. Cheers.
Luke your the camping Master, you the man!!!
Nice one Luke👍👍 Aqua Quest tarps are the bomb, have several and serve me well. Good set up when all said and done, wind and rain no problem. Ideal pitching the tent under the tarp, plenty of room for the biggie bivy.. Stormy weather is fun when you can stay dry and out of the wind, otherwise not so much. Great video and well filmed of course, good job, thanks. Enjoy!
So beautiful videos always. My best wishes from Greece. Be safe and stay strong
As you were walking in I was thinking what a wonderful location to do a winter hot tent camping episode that would make maybe next winter! With all the available standing small stick wood and fallen dead wood, there would be minimal effort to build quite the supply with just a folding saw like a Silky and a camp axe for any splitting necessary! I love the location and this video Luke!!
Stay safe Luke. I hope you and your family are doing well. When I watch these it reminds me of my younger days. Thank you for showing people how nice it could be with camping and testing out different types of gear. God bless you
I truly appreciated your use of a tent inside of the tarp. I, for one, miss the days of your reviews without the bushcraft focus. Thank you very much for this video.
I love listening to the storm when camping. I usually fall asleep 😃
Awesome video Luke! I just love every video you do that involves rain events.
epic tarp, real nice set up nasty storm , and what a pretty area to set the tarp up and camp.thanks for taking us along
Love being in a good storm!!👍
I find videos like this so cool! Thanks for sharing!
And great adventure. Your set up was great, open and dry and perfect for one or two people. I've got a 10x10 Aquaquest tarp and I really like it.
1:11 - Whoa, cool. It looks like a miniature forest!
Thank You Luke. All this teaching will surely help me when I'm out there camping. LOVE and GOD BLESS You Susie and Your Family 💜💙🤗
Camping in bad weather is probably more rewarding than good weather; I love it :)
Awesome tarp,That thing is huge lol,But I don’t blame you,Love being in the woods under a tarp when it’s raining outside 👍
Luke, I lost my cat of almost 16 years a couple weeks ago, we adopted him as an adult cat, from a local shelter, like your sweet dog, our Buster was very loved and so missed, when our pets leave us, it very hard! Blessings to you and your family, thank you for the awesome videos, the camping you do is something I can not do, so I really appreciate your adventures, I love it when your Suzy is with you!
What’s your cat got to do with this channel you pleb?
@@JamesWilson-gw2ij he was talking about losing his beloved dog, and I related how we lost our very loved cat, what’s wrong with you, why are you so hateful? Did you even watch the video, because your stupid is showing, you seem extraordinarily nasty! Sheesh
This is my first time watching one of your videos. It was very enjoyable to watch. I love the rain.
Nothing like being in a storm under a tarp. The sound of the rain and thunder is so therapeutic.
Thanks for another outstanding adventure.
I really like these camping videos. They are oddly relaxing.
Thanks Luke love your extreme weather journeys!
Luke, do you know something .. you are Superb!
Great video as always Luke. I always make myself a coffee before pressing play, because i know i'll be craving a coffee for some odd reason, not sure why lol. I always set up my camp in case of storms, so i don't have to worry about pop up storms in the summer. I also use rainfall runoff from my tarp as extra drinking water. Dollar store shower curtains work great as tarps too :)
awesome again luke braver than me camping in a storm . i love rain n snow but petrified of storms . would love to see susie out camping again miss seeing her 😎
Thank you for your videos. I use them for inspiration. Have fun Luke.
I am in Ohio I’ve been watching you for a couple years now I love all of your videos you and your wife are amazing keep up the good work
Yet another great video! My wife and I do a lot of local camping at family campgrounds and we have learned a ton from you so thank you. We're so sorry for your loss. My family sends yours love and thoughts in this difficult time. Cherish the memories and hold them close,... they are never truly gone. Strength and Honor
Then you should understand that camping in an area with large trees and knowing there will be strong storms is idiotic, he will get you killed, thank you.being in a forest is little protection and unreliable.
Thanks for everything you do and doing it totally unbiased as well, it really helped me pick out a lot of my gear and sort out my choices. Thank you Mr ODGR
I love storms like you do...
I believe in your kneck of the woods green clouds means hail , love your channel , love your excitement , wowzas great storm , cheers again Luke
I respect you guys who do these kind of videos commitment and grit. Not only is it educational from a if crap hits the fan and we have to absolutely survive standpoint but just the strength and care and attention to detail and not to mention the environmental suffering you guys put yourselves through to present this sort of stuff to us is amazing
Luke, what weather app do you use for radar?
This is my 4th time watching this video, fantastic! I believe tarps are in some ways better than tents ⛺ in some cases. I enjoyed every one of your videos keep on keeping on. S&H my friend stay safe and be well and the family 😷🌩❤
Brought back so many memories of My 23 Years in Remote Area Search in South Australia and of so many wonderful nights spent camping with colleagues. Also memories of the people rescued and unfortunately of the bodies recovered.
I especially like the rain sound!!!
Nice video. You should consider adding a NOAA radio to your gear when camping with severe storms. That way if the weather is going to get bad enough in your area that you will need to go back to your truck you will get some warning before they reach you.
I'm a new viewer on your channel & i love it. I have always loved camping. My pop made sure me & my 4 brothers knew what we were doing. He taught us so much! If theres fishing included i love it even more! Thanks for sharing in your journey 😊
man thats some storm luke you seem to have all angles covered all the best my friend
Well done as usual, Luke. Strength and honor.
I love what you do but why is it that hiking out after a pretty good rain storm everything on the trail is dry ?? Strength and honesty !!
Really enjoyed watching that... great camp.. thats tarp set up works really well, and I love that small tent, some good wild camping weather too. Good to experience that weather.... but extra set of clothes is a must! Excellent video. 👍
Cheers from Canada Luke. I can't get enough of your videos. Great job.
I really like and enjoy watching all your videos about adventures and product reviews. They are informative and entertaining! I do a lot of cooking on wood stoves, enjoy cooking at home and at the park. I don't do a lot of Adventures like you do, although I wish I did. I was just thinking though, almost all the time you are videoing you are only cooking on gas or solid fuel. Even though you have fires, it seems to me you rarely use fire for cooking or even boiling water when the locations that you are at have wood easily accessible.
glorious tarp! makes me wanna build a fort!
I believe that a green sky in the midwest is a sign that a tornado could be near... love the channel! Strength and honor
More legend that anything else
The sound of that rain on the tarp is therapy out in the elements cosy
For some reason, the YT algorithm hasn't suggested your videos for some time. I've been looking at a few pieces of gear for summer hiking (not much needed in Florida). The videos out there left a lot to be desired, both in the quality of production and quality of info.
The algorithm fortunately recommended this video, reminding me just how high quality your content is. Thanks for the time and energy spent on creation/production, and my condolences about your dog.
Watched a few of yours over the past few years but this one is the one that's made my mind up. Subbed. You deserve it. Tents have their time and place but tarps are far more flexible. And inclement weather is more fun.
You keep riding your own road..and thanks!
Hello 👋 Luke, greetings from Northern California. Thank you for another tag along outdoor adventure. This was a lot of fun. I like your tarp set up for this adventure. If I need helpful info while camping 🏕 in Eldorado County I will send you an Email, text or a smoke signal. The best to you, Susie and family. Stay safe out there. 🤗
Love the Camping in Rain Videos….More Adventures in your Ice Storm Winter Cabin please….
Have been watching for 2 years love the channel and the honest reviews great content
Inspired me to get back into the outdoors by camping. I’m a lifetime hunter and fisherman but haven’t camped since I was a kid. Been adding to my camping gear, super excited
Down here in Alabama, green skies sometimes precede outbreaks of tornadoes.
Same here in Texas...
Last time I saw green skies a tornado touched down 400 meters from my home a cat 4 that damaged 60 homes
@@michelrheaume8398 Very good point. one suggestion is to always bring a radio to get weather reports and other important info.
That’s everywhere
Yes sir....here in GA that is my experience. Green sky right before tornados strike
I bet she was a wonderful dog and I can see it in your eyes that you loved her.
Watching the video on my phone while being myself under a tarp with a heavy rain (but not a lot of wind).
I've seen the area around me turn green after a heavy thunderstorm, I was told it had something to do with the lightening ionization and nitrogen emplacement, or nitrogen fixation, or something to that effect
I was told it’s a sign of a tornado
@@codyCas I think you're 100% correct, but this was after the storm had passed and I don't recall any reports of a tornado in the area...that's why it was so strange to me
