My sister (44) and I (38) used to play this video game with my family more than 30 years ago. Thank you Atari for such a wonderful years! Greetings from Bolivia!
When I played this game I freaking loved it. And I love the little jingle music it does when you get the Energy Can Kinda reminds me of Mega man actually
Great stuff! One of the best 2600 games.. colorful rainbow world, neat story, great control design to include the 4-way shooting design.. it actually makes more sense here, You have to strategize! Choose to shoot in all directions and move slower OR don't shoot and evade while hoping for the Energy bars/boxes.. the (original) box art, book design/writing, THIS was a top 10 for Atari!! EDIT: 9:28: (4-2-97) I remember the Atari Age secret code promo and won! Also - when my bro and I got this game, we could only play it on a big black/white TV. Good detail but it was... you know, black and white. We saw all the shades of gray and wondered. Then we hooked it up tol our Kitchen TV once in a while when our mom wasn't watching and that one was color. So we were like: "...The COLORS man, oh the COLORS!!" ;)
When I was 4 years old my mum used to play through this game to this level because I found the enemies that tickled the ship hilarious. I too was gutted to see the player didn’t do this 5:00
I got this with my 2600 close to 40 years ago. I miss the days of having a gaming system that you could just turn it on and there was never any software update, storage issues, or changes to terms of service. It felt like a totally finished product
I feel you there. These days I tend to pop in Atari and play at night for a bit and shut if off. I don't even find myself enjoying my NES or SNES games as much anymore besides a handful but Atari just pop in and ago. I recently dug out my Dreamcast, Playstation 1 and all and the load times were a drag. I was happy to see some of my Wii games ran decent. The Switch is such a loading portable that I tend to take Gameboy with Tetris with me if I stay somewhere instead because Gameboy gets right to the point.
Oh I played the hell out of this one as a kid. Sure, your ship was as slow as molasses, but it was fun! THE COLORS!! I also always had trouble with the Horizontal Moving Block of Doom on the 5th stage.
I know this video is five years old, but ... you know you move faster when you're not shooting, right? You would have avoided some of those close calls in the first Stripe Zone and that death in the second if you had more maneuverability. And, as someone else pointed out, you can "dock" with the snakes three times for a lot of bonus points. (That is, the first three times you touch the snakes, you get points instead of dying) Though that's probably also because you never stopped shooting.
@@mdittamo Difficulty switches determine the autofire setting, not whether it's emulated or not. Left switch on A is "push the button to fire", Left on B is "push the button to stop firing". Right switch on B fires forward in addition to the direction you're moving (or not moving), Right on A only fires in the direction you're moving.
I couldn't remember the name of this game and decided to find it on CZcams. Found a video with all the games in alphabetical order and almost gave up 😂
I'm kinda splitting hairs I guess, but 2600 games you can play for more than 10 minutes seem to be hard to find. Adventure, Pitfall, Millipede, Star Trek, Frogger, and Missile Command are my go-to games.
+The Lost Decade ...You forgot Pitfall two, Adventure, Warlords and Combat. Most of the Atari games have not aged well, but a handful are still fun to this day!
played it start to finish at 5 years old sadly the atari died before i could show my mum lol but the news spread through my steps and that next bday i begged for a new atari to show off my skill i got instead a new friend.. rob and the nintendo entertainment system.
The only game where you literally had to do nothing to defeat the boss. Nothing at all. We used to get to that stage and then just put the joystick down. I'm curious, did you not know that if you held the button in order to stop firing, that your ship would move faster? Or would the emulator not allow it? That made dodging stuff much, much easier.
+فيصل الصومالي ....yawn...little fanboys will always be little fanboys. SO, you literally go on sites to find old games then compare them with new systems you don't like? Wow, what are you 12? 11?

Greetings from Bolivia!
Brining back some old memories man. This was my favorite Atari 2600 game.
Whoa
This game, the music, the sound effects all take me back further than any other game.
.... old emotional memories. My childhood in 1982. What exciting evenings.
When I played this game I freaking loved it. And I love the little jingle music it does when you get the Energy Can

Loved this game! One of the better Atari 2600 ports of an arcade game
Whoever played this apparently didn't know you could "dock" inside the snake enemies in the second-to-last level and score points.
Yeah, guess he decided not to do that.
Yeah, I always make fresh continue at the beginning of that stage, you'll have an extra ship before you meet the boss if you do it right
I know! I just searched this to show my daughter what the "moon" she drew looks like, damn thing didn't dock and give me the noise

Queen
Fue una de mis mejores temporadas un buen juego de mis favoritos así como el solar Fox otros más el sonido es magia para mis oídos gracias por subirlo
I owned it. Thank you for the memories. It is awesome how time flies.
linda época, recuerdos de cuando papá nos compraba los cartuchos originales
The song is Queen's "attack of the hawkmen"
They Had this game at our local Dairy Queen in the Cleveland area. Loved it!

Vanguard 🥰🥰🥰Un Grand souvenir étant enfant , je l'ai eu avec l'Atari 2600 🥰🥰🥰
a truly amazing piece of programming... oO
Solid game on the Atari 2600. 👍
Played this on my switch and I love it! Never realized that version was remastered until I saw this though
Oh. They got a remastered version? Is that on Atari Legends or Atari 50?
Man this brings back memories, this was one of my fave 2600 games. This player is an ace, but did he finish the game either time?
I had this game! My cartridge sometimes worked and sometimes didn't... When it did, I used to spend hours playing this.
For the 2600, this was a great adaptation
Coleco almost got the home rights to this game as well as two Centuri titles: _Phoenix_ and _Challenger._
this game was awesome. back in the days
Vanguard? VANGUARD! I loved that game i used to play it all the time when i was a kid, it was one of my favorite on the 2600.
Blast The Gond!
VANGUARD!
For The Atari 2600!
O único jogo do Atari que tem continue

Caramba. Eu me lembro um pouco desse jogo. Eu era muito criança.
first game i ever played in my lifte, back in 1984/5.
And the box art was by Ralph McQuarrie of Star Wars fame.
How did they not get sued for putting Flash Gordon music in this?
best game for atari
I couldn't remember the name of this game and decided to find it on CZcams. Found a video with all the games in alphabetical order and almost gave up 😂
Box art was by the late great Ralph Mcquarrie.
I do remember this game seeming easy. I can’t recall ever playing the arcade version this was based on though.
It was a fair challenge
Gr8 game!
I would've loved this game, where the hell was it when I had Atari lol
5:03 Luther: Huh huh huh.
But fellas who destroys the Gond?
This game was so great. That was the thing with the 2600. For every good game there were 3 bad ones.
That sounds more like the NES ratio, I'd say the 2600 was closer to 1:6. That's a matter of taste of course.
Ok, I agree,I was giving too much credit.
I'm kinda splitting hairs I guess, but 2600 games you can play for more than 10 minutes seem to be hard to find. Adventure, Pitfall, Millipede, Star Trek, Frogger, and Missile Command are my go-to games.
Ah, the harsh reality of throwing in a childhood favorite and being bored before the end of your first game. I know it well.
+The Lost Decade ...You forgot Pitfall two, Adventure, Warlords and Combat. Most of the Atari games have not aged well, but a handful are still fun to this day!
5:01 Luther destroys the Gond!
LUTHER DESTROYS THE GOND!
THis game was a trip check out COSMIC ARK too.
Unmatched prior to SEGA's *_'ZAXXON'_.*
I wonder did they license Attack of the Hawkmen from Queen for this!
played it start to finish at 5 years old sadly the atari died before i could show my mum lol but the news spread through my steps and that next bday i begged for a new atari to show off my skill i got instead a new friend.. rob and the nintendo entertainment system.
Gyromite!
I remembered this game. I never understood the last boss, he dies in one shot?
Destroy the Gond! Destroy the Gond!
Loved this game but I could never figure out how you kill Gond, maybe I did maybe I didn't?
I have my old Atari 2600 & ColecoVision packed away in my closet. Wonder if they still work?
A long way to go just to kill the boss in 1 second.

i was play this on 1985 with 5 year old ❤😂😢❤
I remember playing it on my pc but I never got to defeat the gond. I wonder why it's one shot defeat lol.
Flash Gordon's alive?
Old vidoe
Then what happens?
You go back to tunnel one and alternate between them.
Game over, man. Game over!
It's an arcade game it has no end.
but fellas... who destroys the gond?
atari 2600 > xbox one
