Finally found a Johnny that blocks on wakeup

I found Ram much more problematic, the way she cancels long normals into corner carry projectiles or an almost fullscreen reversal, hurts. And maybe I-No is even worse, I main her and a rushdown that don't give time to Asuka and even out-zoning him with Chemical Love, is hell! Only in a situation of extreme awareness and skill (like Daru vs Gobou) the mind game is so god-like that two equally matched players overshadows the matchup.

I definitely agree with Ram and Ino being problematic, but Ino isn’t too hard to counter with melee spells (metron screamer, terra metron, etc.) and as for Ram.. her sword throw deletes projectiles, but she can only throw it twice, while Johnny has infinite access to mistfiner which does the same.🥲
nevertheless I do agree that these two are also some extremely bad matchups for Asuka.

@@zikradvd Ram recovers the swords very easaly, especially if it hits and with the cubes recovery, Asuka must RC to block a projectile that it is still plus.
Mistfiner is much more situational, less ranged and very minus without hard to setup cards. And Johnny step-dash instead dash makes his normals much less threatening than Ram that interrups easaly the best cards with simply dash+f.S.
I-no often attacks from trajectories where terra metron whiffs (she dosen't stroke randomly just to make you react), she can see that you have metron screamer and can easaly pressure out of range before approaching; Asuka can't decide his cards without preparation and I-no don't give you time, is more easy for her to setup a projectile that wins against many cards and make her start pressure. If she starts the offensive, whitch is easy since she advantaged at neurral (even her airdash intereacts at her favor against many cards); it becomes a hell of safejamps, and mix-ups that also drains your mana. It is by no means an impossible matchup, but is cleary worse than Johnny, at least as I-no main and Asuka secondary I think that; also in Dustloop you can see Cuenca5, Kid Dracula and Ticklememour takes on the matter.

Hilarious how this video pops up after recently getting whooped by a handful of Johnny’s.
Though would you say Johnny is tougher to fight than Axl (imo I still feel Axl is Asuka’s toughest MU). If so (or not), why?

It might be a matter of what you’re more comfortable fighting, they both completely destroy your projectiles as Asuka, but johnny also being close allows him to do somewhat scary mixups. Now Axl is much more of an uphill battle, but once you get close to him he’s more manageable than johnny to some extent.
I don’t enjoy fighting Axl one bit as it’s such an uphill battle but through dashblocking and seeing the command grab coming it’s not that hard to win from an Axl, it just takes a lot of patience.

Johnny takes that same kind of patience as it’s harder to get out of his pressure, but it saves you the trouble of approaching him
