Me and a group of my buddies at the time got to see him as the main event in a tiny high school gymnasium. Instead of acting like he didn't want to be there and just going through the motions, he actually gave it 100% and wrestled like the pro that he is. He even hung out around 30 mins or so after the event to sign autographs for everyone. I wasn't a huge Big Show fan up until that moment, and I've liked him ever since!

Then when he rehired him, he pretty much destroyed kevin Nashs lower back, BIG V did this move where he would sit on the persons back while they laid on their stomach, NASH told him to not do that move, as he had seen him injure more then a few, and then he did it, and it blew out 3 disk on nash. HE WAS FIRED AGAIN AND NEVER RETURNED EXCEPT FOR A ONE OFF , here and there. HE was not a safe wrestler. Safe wrestlers where Brett hart, Dean malenko, hell even Kamalaha was safe compared to this guy
Big Show had Jakks Pacific figures with abs when he was 500lbs, when Mattel started making his figures more realistic, he had a thick waist and at one point in the late 2010's, he finally got abs.
I remember Haystacks Calhoun was one of my favorite Wrestlers in the 1960's - 1980. In 1975 A wrestling magazine had a 1961 photo of a young Bruno Sammartino having the 601 pound Haystacks Calhoun in a Suplex. I doubt any wrestler today could do that.
Tragic how his life turned out in the end, though. He lived out his last days in a trailer in Collin County, TX, and had to have one of his feet amputated due to Type-2 Diabetes. :(

He was and is a legend of British wrestling and similar to many in various wrestling companies though he was always an iconic heel in reality he was intelligent, a people person and hugely popular as opposed to the biggest face of British wrestling Big Daddy who was obviously hugely popular but had no time for his fans unless it was on his terms.

He was going run into a opponent but the opponent got out of the way as Man Mountain Mike crashed into the ring corner with his head. His body went over the corner and landed on a unpadded concrete floor and got right back up in a split second. A medic went to check on him and Mike popped him one and sent him flying.

No mention of Uncle Elmer. Uncle Elmer wrestled along side Hillbilly Jim, Junior and Luke in the 80’s in the then WWF. He even got “married” to a petite bombshell on a Saturday Night’s Main Event with the “ceremony” interrupted by Roddy Piper and some heels. He was easily 500 lbs.
Uncle Elmer did get married in the ring (no quotation marks). I forgot what town they were in for that SNME taping but in that particular state the wedding had to be legit.

happy Humprey, aka William Cobb stood 6-foot 1 inch tall. in 1963 he entered an in-patient weight loss research program in Atlanta. his official weight at the beginning was a CINFIRMED 802 pounds. over the next 2 years he was placed on a diet. every 8 weeks the changed it, giving him different combinations of carbs, protein, and fat. after 2 years he set 2 world records. most weight lost by a human at 570 pounds and fastest weight lost by a human averaging 235 ponds a year. he left the program at an astonishing 232 ponds. as a result, he lived 24 more years, passing away in 1989. although he did regain a lot of weight, he never returned to his former 800+ weight.

No mention of Uncle Elmer. Uncle Elmer wrestled along side Hillbilly Jim, Junior and Luke in the 80’s in the then WWF. He even got “married” to a petite bombshell on a Saturday Night’s Main Event with the “ceremony” interrupted by Roddy Piper and some heels. He was easily 500 lbs.
Uncle Elmer did get married in the ring (no quotation marks). I forgot what town they were in for that SNME taping but in that particular state the wedding had to be legit.
