Cassette Tape will come back, and we can make it happen
oh it's back
If vinyl can make a comeback, so can cassette! Let’s bring VHS back next.
This is light years ahead of the Tascam 4 track recorder that I used in the 1980’s…now I’m the proud owner of a Tascam DP-03SD Portastudio..one of the best (in my opinion) 8 tracks out on the market for the price and you can make a master without having to plug it into a PC.
awesome :) ya the 488 was made around 1990 I think, right when they really started to nail the technology
does that mean I can record different tracks independently overdubbing previous recordings without risking erasure on the other tracks?
technically yes depending on what track you record onto. you'll know where the recordings all are (what channels) when you put the tape into the recorder. probably a couple channels may even be totally unused and open, due to the method these machines used to get 8 tracks out of one tape. I think a typical recording on a standard cassette deck doesn't use the full space of the 8 channels on this machine (if that makes sense)
i really want one if these but sadly i don’t have the kind of money to buy one that actually works
they're pretty expensive!
Elliott smith recorded Roman candle on a four track I seem to recall. Give it a listen and tell me that man wasn’t a fucking genius.
lol he was :) it's a four track classic
I don't own a cassette deck. Can I use Tascam 488 without using a cassette deck? I am planning to record and produce music with Tascam 488. I would appreciate your reply.
The 488 is all you need :)
@@bucksmoonlightrevivalThank you for answer!
Can someone please make a tutorial on how to use this with FL or ableton
what is it you need to know? how to digitize the cassette audio tracks?
@@bucksmoonlightrevival yeah like explain to me as if I just bought that and trying to use it with FL studio
why describe awesome piece of technology in a condescending way, knowing that you used it does the job, get a brain!, have been a warning albums that were made with much less technology
thanks for watching :)
It implies that they were the first to do so, a hobby that is. As if that's all it fit for a hobby.
Hey can I please email you I just got one and need to learn the basics!
