Seb's Finnish skills are likely thanks to the 3 Finnish physiotherapists he has worked with throughout his career, Tommi Pärmäkoski, Heikki Huovinen and Antti Kontsas.
Seb has mentioned in the past that he learnt French through his schooling, this is also likely where he perfected his English. The clips of Seb speaking French were first collated here: adehilmt/status/1308677556330213376
Seb's mother tongue is German. In the clip selected here, Seb is specifically speaking in his local dialect, Hessian (Hessisch). Seb is in discussion with former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock at the 2018 German GP, over a variety of German delicacies. Translations for this section were provided by Moritz.
Finally, Seb took the time to work on his Italian language skills upon his signing to Ferrari, heard over team radio at each of his wins with the Scuderia. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

His local dialect is actually the same as mine but its basically more stupid sounding words for pretty simple words for bread, steak,up,down
I was gonna say, that is a weird type of german, he pronounces some things pretty different from the standard german we learn at school
He also speaks Dutch several times, but not in this video
What is most impressive is that he has the balls to speak on television in languages he is not yet very good at, alot of people struggle with the fear of talking an not being good enough. Mega Respekt
He's not insecure that's why...
If he has the balls to take corners at 300+kph, I doubt this poses much of a challenge
Hamilton can speak ? Ah ok ..Just one
In Europe it’s pretty standard to know 3 languages from a young age and the third is usually not native (i.e: Germany it’s German 1st English 2nd and later on French) which lead to people knowing what it takes to learn a language and applying what they learned with their 3rd to their 4th or 5th language etc.
@@raymendez3403 that’s almost the norm now in the modern world not just Europe
Deepest conversation between Seb and Kimi be like
Seb: Bwoah
Kimi: Mwoah
And then they're both like: 😓😢😭
🤣
Someone insults Ferrari
Seb and Kimi: Bwaoh?!
5 languages, can named every world champion from 50’s to 2020 this guys has the brain of an intellectual
Definitely very intelligent individual
I think language wise Nico Rosberg is also a beast, he is actually fluent in 5 languages. As a french speaking person I can tell you his French is spot on. Mick Schumacher's French is also perfect, if you didn't tell me it's not his mothertongue i couldn't tell. I guess Switzerland and Monaco being home for most F1 drivers helps with having a lot of french speakers
Truly a modern day Renaissance man
When he sings in Italian, he is choosing old famous tunes and changing the original lyrics with his own ones to thank his team - he basically re-wrote the second song!
Exactly
Vettel is like the smartest guy in class who once used to wreck any smart kid but now is just chilling with lower grades
Bwoah - The universal Kimi Seb language.
If anybody is interested. During the German part, Vettel is talking in his local dialect, which some german speakers might not understand.
no wonder i didnt get much, although swiss german wasnt to far off so i could understand a little bit.
maybe people from swiss, austria and bayern understand us swabians but not all. in some areas from baden württemberg you drive 30-40kmh and you have big problems to understand the anyone.
Hatte net so viel verstanden lol aber dan habe ich die kommentare gelesen
Yeah I mentioned. I didnt catch anything! Sounds so differently to what i'm used to
I've learnt German in school, which is the "official" (Bundesdeutsches Hochdeutsch) dialect and I barely understood anything tbh
Finnish! Most impressive. Latin languages aren’t so hard to learn once you know one, but Finnish!! Yeah hats off mate
It's actually the opposite. After learning the first one makes you more difficult to learn to speak correctly other latin based, unless you just go around mixing everything careless.
Make yourself understand is one thing, speak correctly another.
Anyone could learn what he said if they wanted, not to take anything away from him, though. Even he can't speak finnish perfectly.
@Dzie Kuje Not quite. In a strict sense, Spanish is one of the easiest languages to speak, because it is a really widespread language and vocabulary -wise, Spanish is intelligible with lots of other languages, although Italian and French have very similar grammatical rules to those of English. On the other hand, we have tons of grammatical rules that make it hell for non-Latin speakers to learn Spanish, so much so that it was deemed as the 5th hardest language to learn, only a behind Chinese, Japanese, Finnish and German.
@Dzie Kuje "Latin languages are the easiest". If some of my friends who learn french would read that, they would slap your face so hard lol. It's defnitely not the case for french which is one of the hardest language to learn with all these particularities.
I won't say it's very hard for an italian since both languages are a bit close (not so much, because even if french has a lot of latin roots, you also have some roots from other regions). Italian isn't so easy too, even if it seems easier than french given there are less exceptions
(And I can't say for spanish since I can't speak spanish) but it's very close to italian so it's not surprising they speak well
But for chinese (for example), french isn't definitely an easy language (it can be easier if you master english, of course)
@@franciscagustin Well no not really, Finnish is not easier for an Italian to learn than Spanish. Same way Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin are harder again. They are just harder, because they are more different, it's black and white.
He picks up languages, imagine how complicated his neuron are
He is really smart, that's for sure. He would have a great career in other areas too if he wasn't a driver.
My father is like this, he learns languages for fun. He’s retired now and in his 70s but he’s still terrifyingly sharp.
All that with just one neuron 😱
Learning languages is super fun 🤩
@@borismuller86 And then there is me,a young 14 year old F1 fan and language lover who knows the basics of maybe even more than 10 languages.
Finish is amazing but him giving a full race report in Italian is also pretty shocking. Seb is smart and obviously cares to be involved with his surroundings rather be his former team or simply talking to his fisio. A class act
Feliz Navidad!
...June 2021.
What a gringo right? Lol
A gringo would've said.. happy cinco de mayo
El Sebastián Vettel.

As a Finn I can tell you that 1:24 was perfectly pronounced and had me in tears of laughter

That last song got me, especially after Ferarri being horrible to him for his last 6 months.
That was incredibly sweet.
Seb at Aston Martin has that Red Bull vibe about him that was rarely seen at Ferrari. What's more, Aston Martin have that vibe Red Bull had just before they started winning those titles, that positive fun vibe, hunger and ruthless desire to win.

its insane how good vettel's finnish pronounciation is
french too, his knowledge of the language is limited but his pronunciation is insane
@@marsimus13 to be fair, when german is your first language, other languages are often fairly easy to pronounce in my opinion.
@@Sicklehead88 i wouldn’t know but i believe you! because when you look at all the germans we’ve had on the grid, their english pronunciation is almost always flawless
It's not surprising he speaks several languages given the fact that he went to gymnasium, which is a sort of top level high school. Kids attending these schools are no nitwits and pick up new stuff easily, like languages. Go Seb! 👍🏼

Sebastian Vettel, what's not to like about the man!

In french, he manages to auto-correct as he speaks.... Impressive ce Weltmeister.
Is that why him and Kimi have always been good friends ?
Yes
I remember Seb saying when he first entered F1 a lot, if not all, of the drivers and much of the paddock were against him because of his age. Kimi (and Timo Glock, too) were the only ones who made him feel he belonged there.
@@waynetowers5046 Great stuff. Seb did the same to Max when he entered at 17 years old and that makes it even more cool.
@@mr.fancypants3366 and it's doing the same for Schumi, though he has an easier time since he is really likeable
Bwoah
I regret that i thought he was a young little snot at the beginning of his career. This man must be protected at all costs.
His French is actually very good, despite making some grammatical mistakes the accent is almost native
Not almost native but he has a good french accent.
Nobodys surprised anymore, dude can name every F1 champion out of his head 😂
This video will explode like in 1-2 years, vai seb
as a french I am very impressed by his accent !!
you can tell he's missing some vocabulary to fully express his thoughts but he definitely got the accent
I cried at Seb singing that to his team. Such a great man ❤️
Imagine you have a friend who's in the same sport as you but not the same team (at least not until 2015) and you learn the language he speaks merely as an interest.
As a finn best thing was that he knows most of the swearwords!
The best way to learn a new language. LOL!
I only know perkele and vittu in Finnish, not even good morning or yes or no

I like how everybody loves Seb nowadays. I remember 10 years ago I got a lot of shit for being a Vettel fan.
Best personality on the grid! (He speaks some Dutch as well btw)
Learning Dutch would be a piece of cake for him imo.
@@myk1137 from where he is from it would take him some months of living there I think, cause his local dialect is quite different, his French is probably what's left from 5+ years of french in school. I guess from the order he learned them would be probably German, english, french, finnish and Italian. But I think he uses/used finnish more often than Italian and french.
Haha it’s so awesome he is cursing in Finnish by himself 🤣
I didn't know the meaning of the song he sung during the last race with Ferrari, until now... That was touching 😢
To finish first you have to learn Finnish first ... wait, what?
10+10 and 11+11 have the same answer
when I saw Germaan was included I thought "well obviously", but then it was his local dialect and I was like "ok, it IS another language" :D
0:07 Seb singing a Eurovision song is something I wasn't expecting
"Feliz Navidad!"
MR. WORLDWIDE
4:04 Kimi Bwoah
He must have learned it from Kimi hahaha
No wonder why him and Kimi got along so well.
How the f did the memorize that song in the end. This man never stops to amaze us
He had the lyrics on a piece of paper which he kept in his gloves during the race.
I've got to say that while he's only fluent in German and English, it's still really impressive how he's able to have a basic conversation in another 3 languages. I speak English as my first language, Italian as my second (my parents are Italian) and I'm currently learning Japanese. Once I'm done with Japanese though, I'll be learning German. German is such a nice language and I like the country as a whole myself.
Btw, for anyone wondering, Seb's Italian is very broken but it's still incredible that he is able to keep up such conversations. Italian is very difficult and, as expected, he messed up a lot of gender articles. The Italian language as a whole is really complicated. At one point he even sung "You'll never surrender". He said "arrenderete mai" but it's actually "non vi arrenderete mai", which literally means "you will never not surrender yourselves". Italian uses this double negative, which makes no sense. Even Latin didn't have it. I'm also not sure why Italian even uses the dative form with the verb "surrender". As I said, Italian is a very complicated language. It's still really amazing how he can also speak Finnish on top of that, which is a language that is even more complicated than Italian
Welcome to everyone who sees this in 5 years, because it was on their homepage
“No, Satan, ass, fuck, Friday” i felt that😂
Sebastian's Finnish pronunciation is so amazing! Some Germans have difficulties pronuncing r-letter. His pronunciation is on point👌😄 Especially loved "paska, perse, vittu, perjantai"🤣😂🤣

His Finnish actually sounds pretty legit! 🇫🇮
Hey guys, i just want u to know that i am just a truck driver from lithuania, but speak english, german, dutch, russian, latvian, swedish and polish 🙂
Wow thats nice 👏
Great man! Respect to you from Germany :)
In Germany we learn English and French at school, sometimes also Latin or another one of the modern languages like Spanish.
I myself had English starting in 5th grade, then Latin 7th grade and French 8th grade (that type of higher education school goes to 13th grade).
So someone graduating with the "Abitur" can probably speak French well enough to have a good conversation but if you don't practice it you mess up the articles and gender pronunciations of nouns a bit and also the past tenses sometimes can be tricky.
But we can definitely read a French newspaper without wondering what the text is about.
German students are truly multilingual
heart warming really thanks for existing bro
The German dialect he spoke in had some words that you won't understand if you don't speak it, but you can always kind of get what he meant from the context. The food they talked about was very specific. As a local I only knew like 2 things. I'm living in Lower Saxony in which you only speak standard German and a dialect is rather unusual here. *Drives away on the Autobahn*
