I think that was the best ending of a film I’ve ever seen. They say that every minute between a film’s climax and its end is dead weight - so you can’t get more perfect than La Haine.
I love the way this video ends- “what are you looking at?” It’s like we’ve been eavesdropping the whole time and Simon Mayo finally spotted us so we had to stop recording
@@AliVolksbank Well no, if you're saying it's the best movie of all time, he has the right to disagree and debate your claim. If you say it's your FAVOURITE movie of all time, then he can't debate that.
funny thing about la haine, we grew up in a rough neighborhood, and when i say ''we'', i mean me and some friends, just like the movie... we found the movie somewhere with english subtitles and the most hilarious thing was, the characters actually kinda resembled us in lifestyle and manerisms, even skincolor... needless to say it became an instant classic between us lol... although considering the age we were, it also helped with some poor choices we made along the wayXD real big part of my youth this film. and i wouldnt want it any other way.
I didn't like it when I saw it...like Mark, I saw it when it came out. I found it unengaging and derivative. Perhaps seeing it again after so long might give me a different perspective. Plus, Mark seems so taken by how it now feels after the passage of so many years; he's sold it to me
I saw this film the first time over 20 years ago. Thank God I did. Listening to this pseudo intellectual claptrap would have ruined it for me. If you want to get something out of this super movie leave this garbage well alone. It speaks for itself. There is no need for this patronising rubbish.
But it’s realistic. That’s the point. Thugs or “gangsta”s didn’t speak quietly in the times of riots and chaos. The acting in this film is incredible and you might be right I’m not sure if it accurately represents the relationships between each other back then but there’s no doubt it felt like I was in the corner watching these conversations of those friends take place.
After finishing this film, I sat silently for nearly 10 minutes. It left me truly speechless

Also it has _incredible_ ambient sound in every scene, which works so well with the total absence of incidental, non-diagetic music
The drone effect was ahead of its time

The greatest movie of all time.
It's not even the best French film of all time, but brilliant nonetheless. Striking ending.
@@danielmcdermott138 Well, for me it is the best movie of all time. I don't think you can decide my personal opinion.

My favorite of all time too. It does and says more to me than any other film I’ve ever seen by a long, long way:)
not culturally and cinematically significant and gamechanging enough unfortunately, still good tho!
I totally agree. Watching it again last night I found it so much funnier and so much more human.

Please don’t make la haine 2…
First foreign film I ever watched, must have been only 15 when I accidentally caught it on BBC.
Yep, spot on. A poignant film about masculinity and friendship. Masterpiece.
Mesmerising Cinema
espy sent me this thanks!!!
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose, as Rush sang.
I wore out an already copied VHS of this film back in the day.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose, so, what was he looking at? 🤪
Le monde est nous.
I liked it but not as much as I thought I would. I will watch again

Nihilism.

Not a fan.
It's incredibly loud and abrasive and the acting is really quite poor.
Jmho
