This has been like this since they came out! Everyone knows the colored frames can't be used in duels lmao still can't grasp why this was the legendary collection everyone wanted to get reprinted when Dark Revelations 4 exists!
I think they can’t do this, because if you play without sleeves or with clear sleeves, you could see that it’s a god card on top of your deck, which could give you advantage. But I’m not sure about the sleeve rulings 100 percent.

I really appreciate all of these cards getting the modern card frame and updated PSCT, though I really wish Legacy of Darkness was an included set since it would be very nice to have an understandable printing of Last Turn.
I can't even count how many times I looked at Elegant Egotist since my childhood and I never noticed the Faces....mindblown lol.

Fairy meteor crush also has a funny ruling, where if you were to equip to an opponents monster and it attacks your defense position monster the damage is dealt back to them, I always thought it was a funny ruling
As usual the 25th anniversary for OCG is 1000x better
Wish they would have used the better arts for the 3 main cards, and for the god cards would have been cool to see them with their effects so we could play them while keeping the original blue yellow red colors
Why would they do that? This is literally what you got from the first two legendary collection and its first reprint! This is exactly what you all wanted lol
Licensing has to do with it I think. Only OCG can use the original art.
@CipherWing that's absolute bullshit, konami can go fuck themselves then. They can't exactly call it an anniversary either because for people like me buying since 2002 and 2003 , the nostalgia factor isn't working without the real artworks

Hearing your short anecdotes and experiences with these cards was honestly so heartwarming.
I figured this is how the cards would look like: modern foiling for holo cards, the updated card layout (bigger card illustration, and bigger text boxes compared to the original prints and the 2010 versions). Makes it easy to distinguish the different versions of unlimited editions of cards.

This box is so cool. I’m a big Egyptian God fan so I 100% at least want the three God cards in the new rarity but ideally I’d like to complete the set.
No words will ever sum up the disappointment I had seeing them do this 25th anniversary set without the original arts for the big 3.
Yeah, but at least it seems like the OG Dark Magician art will be included as a Quarter Century Rare in this year's tin, based on the image we have now. Maybe OG Blue-Eyes as well, we probably don't know all the promos yet.

I agree with you personally, but I can see a reasoning. This was basically a copy of the 2010 legendary collection, so they used the same artwork from the promo cards in that box. It's basically a carbon copy, minus the gameboard and add a quarter century secret rare.
It wasn't until watching the generations being opened one at a time where I really saw how quickly the power creep ramped up in old YGO. From 1000atk 4* monsters to 1900 4* in just 4 generations. Cool trip down memory lane. I hope I can get at least one of these collections at launch.
Old foiling looks better, this new Looks very cheap. Also the cards looks brighter

The new foiling looks like a nicer version of the fake cards your friend Mike would use in second grade that had like 3333 atk and no defense value.

technically speaking it's not even a new rarity just a slightly modified version of 10th Secret Rares from the OCG. The key differences are a red name instead of a gold one and a "20th" watermark instead of "25th".

Cyber dragon's original (JP) name is cyber dragon while cyber saurus is mecha saurus so it's not legally a part of the cyber archetype.

Back in 2010, when I got the binder version, I obtained The Right Arm of the Forbidden One. From the Legends of Blue Eyes pack.

We finally get this rarity! I actually own a few OCG cards just because of this. It's really cool to see them finally in the TCG. Let's hope they don't just keep them for this set (even if they probably will)

My only criticism of this product is the pack selection. I wish it had either been the first six, meaning including Labyrinth of Nightmare and Legacy of Darkness instead of Dark Crisis and Invasion of Chaos -OR- including Dark Beginnings 1 and 2 instead of DCR and IOC -OR- if it had been 2 packs each of the first four sets.
If they had done any of these, then it would have been a perfect product for draft/sealed play, and an excellent product for teaching your friends.
The fact is, Yugioh changed a ton as a game between PSV and DCR. Monster effects became more important, power one-of spells became way less common, archetypes (in a very early form) emerged, and the power level of the game spikes dramatically in IOC. So these six packs produce a really uneven power level and thus would make the decks you build really uneven as well.
And I don't even say this as a particular fan of this first, early era of Yugioh. An ideal product for me would be LON, LOD, PGD, MFC, and DCR, since that is my favorite period. I just don't think those are the best set of packs to start on as a new player, though they could be combined into a pretty good draft set for Intermediate players.

I know it’s wishful thinking, but I really hope they were nice enough to print errata’d cards with their original text, maybe with a disclaimer on them saying that those effects are not legal in the current game. Because, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it’s gonna feel real bad to pull a secret-rare CED and it has its awful nerfed abilities.
Just use the old ones then, simple solution.
Just play the original IOC CED. Problem solved.

Hopefully with these reprints, Dimension Fusion will be cheaper so I'm able to get them again since my stuff was stolen.

Just to get a better point of reference:
"Pot of Greed" (+Giant Trunade, Graceful Charity) is considered: "Oh my god, we really messed up balancing back in the day." Correct?
Meaning those boosters can contain YGO's equivalent of MtG's power 9 and they don't cot an arm and a leg and contain the 6 most iconic monsters of the show guaranteed.
Is this correct? Just wanna gauge how badly WotC hates the players compared to Konami.
Well yes, but actually no. The cards you mentioned had quite a few reprints and are therefor not that expensive at all (and are also banned, so no use for modern play). Same with the 6 monsters, of which 3 (the egyptian gods) are not legal to use (these copies are more like proxys). The exact same product also was already pulbished once in 2010, so they really didn't do anything new here, not even concept-wise.
That said it is still way better than what WotC did. It is affordable and nostalgic with good print quality. MTGs 30th anniversary is just a middlefinger to the community.

Quick question for the YUGIOH community - I recently started sorting my old cards and came across a Giant Rat misprint card that says "Witch Of The Black Forrest". I tried to do some research but was struggling to find many examples. Just curious if anyone knows how rare this is and is it valuable. It's from the DB1 set if this helps. Thx

These were a common name misprint with whichever tin included DB1 (either first or second wave after BPT). Strictly Sealed has a video discussing this. Sold listings for the same type of DB1 misprint avg at around USD 50-100
