I think Shohei made the right decision in choosing to forego the HR Derby this year. Sure, the fans would love seeing him compete, but the risks and negative impacts are too serious to let a short-term fan thrill take precedence. He's better off protecting his elbow through the rehab process instead of forcing himself to hit HRs in rapid succession, probably throwing off his timing and undermining the progress he's made in the first half of the season. I applaud his decision to do the wise thing instead of the fan spectacle with too many risks involved.
