Lovely :) Just the Scottish band I searched for. A warm, manly voice with that sweet accent and this heavenly music :)
Nice cover, but Dick Gaughan's version cannot be bettered, with Andy Irvine. Superb!
I met you in person i think. Way back in like 05/06 era. You rock thanks for the cds out of the back of your van 🎉
I absolutely love Old Blind Dogs. :D
still listening when im alone and still perfect in time in every Situation perfect...
This is really quite excellent stuff - the words and music along with the fantastic rendition - are really wonderful! More, more, and more again.
This song is a great its given aNEW" life thanks to Jim Malcolm
I've found my usual study tunes to be monotonous, so I decided to move my playlist around a bit. Amazing music!! Makes me proud of my heritage (as if I wasn't before :P)
Ma mate is great at this on his own and this is superb, i'm a Falkirk bairn btw.bloody magic. great song absolutely brill.
super super gut. Ich mag euch
Can someone give me an English translation of this song? I'm Italian so sometimes I find difficult to understand even British English. Scottish for me is truly a puzzle.
I'll come to Scotland this summer and since I'm really fascinated by scottish culture I would like to learn new things about it even through these wonderful songs.
It's about a fair/swap meet where people come from all over to sell their goods, get drunk, and get lucky...this is originally a song by the Battlefield Band but I think that this version by Old Blind Dogs is better...it's got that snappy beat to it that gets ya' dancing'...if you've not seen these guys live, you are missing out......it's always a great show and they are all down to earth folks who mingle with the audience after the show (depending on the venue)...hope this explanation helps...hell, I'm a Greek-American Deadhead and I'm sure that some of our Scottish brothers and sisters could probably add on a whole lot
Great song! I'd love to see the original version by Battlefield Band uploaded here.
Great singing from Jim Malcolm former singer wtith.."OLD BLIND DOGS" got a version of this song by Battlefield Band
I just might post it
Awesome
@cheerydavie Please, do. I've seen Battlefield Band a couple of times, and love them. "Lads of the Fair" has always been one of my favourites.
found this by way of Charlie's moonlight route to the coast! Beautiful sound, boys!
@pastapesto11 Your dad is THE Jim Malcolm? What an amazing talented man with a beautiful voice. We are close, close friends with a girl named Kari who he would stay with when visiting Flagstaff. Please let him know some old friends wish him the very best and we miss his beautiful voice. =)
I'll see what I can do...
I'm probably 10,000 of the 39,000 views on here, haha. Can any draw out some acoustic sheet music for this!?!?!
@avatar00101 OBD are Scottish!
Lads ✔
@avatar00101 Except that Old Blind Dogs are SCOTTISH. *sigh*
Is this Scots?
+SayuriOxygen It's the Scots dialect 'Doric' - used in North-Eastern Scotland
I like Dick Gaughan's version better, but this one is nice.
Whoa,I seriously tought I heard Hitler.
"Lads what sell you the brother's daughter"?
What a chump!
I think the line goes "Lads that would sell you the Provosts daughter." The Provost is a Scottish Mayor. ie Lads that are con-men.
@@Paul_W.E_Ingham you would be correct lol wish my way could pick this accent back up so I could do these songs but alas it isn't
It's a good version. But not as good as the battlefield Band's original from over 2 decades earlier. Jim Malcolm has a better voice than Bryan McNeill, but his syncopation doesn't really add anything.
Battlefield band is better.
Old blind dogs sont mes amis depuis très longtemps surtout Johnny festival interceltique de Lorient
