Thanks alot
Thanks a lot ….
Barbarian is a trash😑
only thing to make with better would be timestamps, but nonetheless we appreciate this.
I loved how NOPE went from "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" to an episode of "Neon Genesis Evangelion"
So true 🤣
If you put it that way.
With an Akira nod.
How did it go “Evangelion”?
When Jean Jacket took battle angel form at the end. That was about it.

Smile was legitimately horrifying, Black Phone was disturbing, Terrifier was disgusting, X was freaky, Orphan: First Kill was unexpected, Bones & All was stupid so was Bodies Bodies Bodies and Scream wasn’t a horror film. BARBARIAN WAS A MASTERPIECE!!! I gotta see Fresh, Hatching & We’re all going to the Worlds Fair
Smile was unoriginal
@@antepa112 I’ve never seen anything like that before. I liked it. Scared the shit outta me.
Agreed Scream isn’t horror it’s shitty MTV bubble gum pop culture uninventive who done it bullshit. I can’t believe they’re still making these movies. have you seen The Sadness Holy shit it’s an intense must watch movie. It punches you in the teeth early and doesn’t let off the gas for the entire run time.
Barbarian was meh af. Bodies Bodies Bodies was fuckin hilarious
@@ice9557 I actually did see it! If you were read the comic book “Crossed” this was basically that but the film version and minus the cross shapes on their faces.
That monkey scene was the scariest part of Nope
Scary?
The Star Lasso Experience scene is calling…. But yes, Gordy was terrifying as well!
It was based on an actual event i.e. a chimp that really ripped off a woman's face and hands. 😨
@Don until you learn that something like that happened in real life
@Don I meant the attack itself. People say it's based on the Travis incident from 2009
2022 was seriously a good year for horror.
I have to disagree. I'm not a fan of A24 (so there goes a couple of them), and a lot of the movies were terrible or overrated/over hyped. But what do I know? I'm one of the few that liked Halloween Ends. Probably the only good horror movies of the year were Halloween Ends and The Black Phone. The rest I didn't care for and stuff. But I feel my opinion doesn't matter and I shouldn't be allowed to have one since I liked Halloween Ends.
I'm not even a fan of horror and I agree.
Dang. It's already horrifying looking at the grocery prices this year.
2022 feeling like 2 days is a horror story
But not MY year, unfortunately.
Shocked to see Smile placed at no. 10. I found Smile extremely well made and genuinely terrifying at places. The acting and screenplay were top notch. It should have been easily placed in top 3!!
Smile was the best for me
I was really disappointed.
Parker Finn can't write for shit though
Dude smile was the first horror movie in a long time that made me actually have trouble sleeping and left me thinking about it for a month afyer lol
Smile was scary asf definitely should watch if you’re looking for a scary movie
I fell in love with Scream in my teen years. It feels awesome what you said and I think Wes Craven would be proud.
Rest In Peace, legendary horror director
He would be rolling over smh

You go in to Barbarian thinking one thing and leave knowing another. Absolutely brilliant.
My favorite horror movies of 2022:
1- X.

There's no such thing as Scream 5
How fresh was not an honorable mention when you use it as the opening to this video is beyond me. Fresh is amazing and a gem of 2022

Wow I just watched barbarian and was expecting it to be on the list & it's number 1! Well deserved.
Scott Derickson did good leaving the MCU while he could
He sure has a lot more to offer

I mean, it's not like he wanted to leave. There were creative differences on Dr Strange 2 and he's said he would love to return one day.
2022 was a great year for horror, just to set the record completely straight. This year brought us some great gems like Fresh, X, Scream, The Black Phone, Barbarian and others. The only horror films i enjoyed this year was Nope, X, Black Phone, Scream, Smile and others.
Anyone that actually rates Barbarian completely loses credibility to me
Smile was def #1 for me
I really LOVE both 'X' and the 2022 'Scream' movie.
We can't wait to see the next one until March 2023.
Next what?
@@cinemahorizon5109 The 6th 'Scream' installment.

Why’d you like scream so much it followed the same exact format as the first 4 nothing new at all no inventive kills, no gore, lack of interesting character development, it’s a shitty series that I can’t believe are still making sequels
Smile was fantastic. I haven't seen a horror movie that disturbing in a while, and the metaphors for the cycle of abuse are great.
Sorry I know you may not want to say too much, but what metaphors? I’m curious . You can always delete your response
@@lessismore8533 Mentally ill people being ignored/shunned/misunderstood by friends and family and that just increases the danger and trauma they face. The killer passes from person to person through trauma just like mental illness.
i thought the trailers made it look dumb, but it actually turned out really good!
@@garrettwidner6915 yes, viewing trauma can be contagious, or life changing as it happens to each person but the metaphor aside, I didnt think much of the movie.
Smile is the only horror film in recent times that could genuinely DISTURB me in the most unsettling horrifying way imaginable. The other films mentioned here didn't even come close. I would say just like Ju-On, Conjuring 1 and Hereditary, Smile is true genuine horror.

The movie "Smile" is one of the greatest i've watched but what ruins it is the ending
Ending wasn’t as bad as the first Insidious but I’d put Smile over Nope on the list
@@marceljohnson2215 Both were zzz to me
The ending was the cherry on top of a mediocre movie imo. It felt cruel after all we had to suffer alongside the protagonist throughout the whole film
The ending was perfect lol
@@APEXGAMING99 I did and I got grounded by both of those movies just because it got SEX scenes on it
What I don't like about The Black Phone is that the paranormal phenomenon takes the majority of the film, heck, the kidnapper barley did anything and the kid wasn't acting much as he is kidnapped. It is like staring at a lion inside a cage, it is terrifying but it does loosen up a bit after sometime !
Indeed, could be better
Ikr
I went with my friends to the cinema to wach it and everybody said that it was horrific and that it was the most horror movie that they wached, for me it was ok but I didnt wanted to ruin the mood
I thought it was a boring pog but many seem to be hyping it up for some reason
It's a horrible movie.
I recently watched The Black Phone with my dad....not really a fan of horror, but I actually kinda liked it....found it more creepy than scary but it had an intriguing plot
I like how people were leaving and throwing up watching Terrifier 2. Come on it's Art the Clown, he makes his victims into Art.
True
I thought I would be one of those that would throw up while watching Terrifier 2, but I ended up handling the movie fine. I had to stop the brain surgery scene in Saw 3 about 2-3 times because I came close to throwing up (and I was sweating like crazy, which probably had to do with me fighting back the urge to throw up). Terrifier 2 though, the only time I stopped it was to use the bathroom quickly (had been drinking a lot of Coke and water throughout the day and it finally caught up to me while watching the movie). And I stopped/paused the movie during a section of the movie where it was all just "downtime" or dialogue heavy scenes. I didn't pause during a kill/death scene. And all I had to do while watching Terrifier 2 was look away for a second or two, or just use some kind of peripheral vision. I never felt like I needed to throw up or anything. So once again, I had to call BS on all these claims. The movie really wasn't that bad. I also want to say that I think I saw worse in the Saw movies or the Hellraiser movies (definitely first three Hellraiser movies) or the girl getting sliced in half in the first Terrifier was more graphic. Also, I think I was able to handle Terrifier 2 since it was so ridiculous and over the top that it wasn't all that disgusting and more cartoon-y. Stuff like Saw and Hellraiser are trying to be graphic in a serious way.
you do know that was just a bull shit pr story and none of that happen
haha the one killing was intense for sure. of course they had to up it after the last one;) ha hope they make a 3rd & more of a back story
It's funny everyone else watching Terrifier 2 🤢🤮 me watching Terrifier 2 😳😃
Smile genuinely creeped me out. Was pleasantly surprised by how good it was!
I just stomached The Green Inferno at home, in my room. There’s no way I would stomach Terrifier 2. No way
The green inferno is like a Disney movie compared to terrifier 2 😂
Both movies suck!
My personal top 3-
1)Hellbender
2)X
3)Terrifier 2
Malignant may not be on this list but it’s great with a heck of a twist. Gory and creative. It’s like Basket Case meets Paranormal Activity
Yeah Malignant was a lot better than most on the list
wait Malignant was released in 2022? If so yeah it needs to be in the top 5
I loved that movie! It was funny, scary and you’re right it had a horrifying twist that may not be entirely fiction, the medical world has found incidents that are somewhat similar.
I agree 1000% with you, it's very unique and unpredictable. Number 1 for me.
Malignant was my last year's (2021) no.1 horror movie. So it's doesn't count for 2022, but yes i agree with all comments above It's Amazing horror!!
Smile and Barbarian were two movies that blew me away and far exceeded my expectations. I kind of hated scream it is kind of mocking Legacy sequels but it's extremely obvious what's going on.
Not sure I'd call we're all going to the world's fair horror I think it labels it as something it isn't but it is a great movie as long as your not expecting straight horror.
Barbarian average
HATCHING I was privileged to see at a cinematheque/arthouse cinema in Nice, France. First time I ever saw a Finnish language film on the big screen. A privilege!
X, The Black Phone, Nope, Barbarian, Terrifier 2 and Scream (2022) were my favorites of this year. Others I liked that weren't mentioned on this list that should have been honorable mentions were Deadstream, Mad God and The Sadness (though technically a 2021 movie since it was released in January of 2021 in Taiwan but it didn't get a US release on Shudder until May of 2022 so it's a bit of both).
all of them were shit
@@dakota3275 thanks for the negative opinion
What about Pearl?
Don't forget Fresh.
I could have gone without Terrifier 2. I thought the story was a bit dumb at the end with the glowing sword and the "she's the one" type sh!t but I did find it quite enjoyable and hilarious
Horror never left, it only gets stronger!
Haven't watched all of these yet but would highly recommend Hellbender and Smile.
255: I can obviously tell from the image before I clicked. From all the horror movie trailers I’ve seen, Smile made me *********** jump. Including my dad
Wow finally some real good horror 👏👏👏
Thanks watch mojo. Some of this movies Haven't heard. Gonna download and watch them.
The Black Phone was so fun, no dull moment
The Black Phone is a modern horror classic, and in my opinion the best horror movie of 2022. Ethan Hawke is FANTASTIC as The Grabber. His performance is bone-chilling. Whenever he was on screen, I was on the edge of my seat. I also love that the film is more of a suspenseful thriller than your average jump-scare horror flick.
Once the killer is revealed in Barbarian, that's when I started to fall apart for me. The entire movie seemed so real up to that point but the fact that an extremely inbred human had the same strength as a marvel villain quickly put this film into the same light as Malignant for me. Terrifier 2, X and Pearl were my top picks and if The Menu was considered horror, that would easily be above Barbarian as well.
also who was running the house as the AirBnB???
@@ThurgoodJenkins1 It was being managed by Greater Wayne Property Management and AJ Gilbride (that douchebag TV actor) was the owner.
Same here, the ending was so boring and anticlimatic too. Also i have to add ZzZmile to the bad horro movies top. My top 3 X, Terrifier and Hellraiser, (i have doubts on this one but i still have lot of movies left to watch)

A perfect year for horror and scares!!❤❤❤
Having smile at #10 and X at #1 is wild!!
Great year for horror movies, number 1 is a well deserved movie and I couldn't agree more. Looking forward to 2023 and ghostface!!!;)
I liked Barbarian a lot, it really subverted my expectations and was a pleasant surprise. But I don't think it deserves the #1 spot honestly.
The second half could have been better and the ending was extremely weak.
Can’t wait for M3GAN!!
Terrifier 2 terrified me, it’s my favorite horror film of the year
2022 was a fantastic year for horror movies and movies in general. My top five favorite horror movies of 2022 are Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), X, NOPE, Barbarian and Christmas Bloody Christmas. This was a solid list and breakdown.
Barbarian Black phone smile nope and scream 2022 were some of my favorite horror movies of 2022.
Just finished watching the barbarian and that joint was wild ngl 🤯
Yeah barbarian was good. X mediocre. Scream was boring and lazy. Black phone very bad. No tension whatsoever. Nope was ok. And smile is the most overrated peace of mediocre crap this year.
Barbarian was awful, it was good until Justin Long was in it.
It wasn’t him that wrecked the film, it was like three films were put together.
Same.
Sissy, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Pearl
Hatching,
Smile, Pearl
Speak no evil , The Watcher

Black Phone was by far the best horror movie on this list. Close second being Barbarian.
I think barbarian is slightly better than black phone. Mostly cuz black phone wasn't even scary.

The Menu and The Black Phone are my two favorite horror films of the year
Barbarian and Terrifier 2 are tops!
I'm def not the only one who thought Smile was gunna be a cringey cheesy ass blumhouse horror flick but it was actually fkn good
I didn't care for Smile. Was getting annoyed with the constant jumpscares. The movie was another Jumpscare City type of movie. And the constant jumpscares made me not care about anything else in the movie. After a while, I was just watching the movie for bragging rights/to say I watched it.
I got so drunk during the movie bc I was taking a swig every time something stupid, funny, or cliche thing happened
2022 is such an amazing year for horror fans. the amount of good horror we get?? fantastic
Good list but you missed one horror film. Deadstream !! It was so well made and entertaining.
I felt Smile had vibes of it follows. They just changed it from the one activity to the other. Dont wanna give spoilers if people haven’t seen them but you know what im talking about if youve seen both.
I love It Follows. I did not care for Smile. I don’t get all the hype for it, it felt very cliche and all the jump-scares and fakeouts became infuriating. Wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t super original or scary
Both overrated. Just a silly take on passing on a possessive curse, what's next cursed pizza? Oh no I shared a pizza with u waaaahhhh
I watched it last night, enjoyable horror film, but it was very close to the film 'Truth or Dare' without the game part.
Smile
Barbarian
X
Pearl
Terrifier 2
Scream
Prey
Bodies bodies bodies
Orphan first kill
Was my favorite films of this year.
i really dont get why people r liking smile. it started well and creepy but quickly became bland for me using every horror trope possible with its rehashed ideas. the big boogie woogie at the end was cool tho. for me it was 10% it follows, 10% truth or dare, 5% fallen and 75% rubbish. so many other worthy films this year so tell me why u liked this? im genuinely interested to know. ur other picks r pretty great
@@exit2exist676 Well that's just your opinion, I haven't personally seen the movie yet but when I will , I'll keep my opinion to myself.
My issue with bodies bodies bodies is that I thought all the characters were kinda unlikeable, but glad you were able to enjoy it.
@@exit2exist676 I personally loved smile cause how creepy and effective some of the jumpscares are. In fact the movie made me cry for Rose cause I knew this wasn’t gonna end well for her but was rooting for her to find happiness.
I liked the soundtrack too it elevated the fear. The characters were well written and it had good acting.
I also liked the messaging of the movie too it served as a metaphor for someone control over their mental health when their being beaten down so much by their own trauma, and how people cover their sadness and internal struggles with fake smiles because of society pressures.
I generally thought of the creature as a symbol of depression because the creature never really hurt rose physically instead it broke her down to the point of giving up which often happens in real life with suicide. We try to fight our battle on our own with mental health instead of together and sometimes end up losing.
Smiles whole curse is like trauma being passed on to others who are also emotionally hurt. All the victims have seen someone die close to them. Smile is amazingly crafted with heart but with such a devastating and tragic end.
@@jeremysharp7910 Yes mate it is my opinion and i did state that. i was asking this fella out of interest to understand anothers opinion on it. thanks for chiming in, but i highly doubt u can keep ur opinion to urself when no one asked u bout this but u just had too hey. u and ur double standards have a great day
*Smile* gave me nightmares. Absolutely disturbingly terrifying just like Hereditary.
Smile is the best horror movie I've seen in a long time. It has some gripes but it's exactly what you want in a horror movie. All of my buddies enjoyed it. 9.5/10
Terrifier 2 is hands down the most horrifying/terrifying movie in this list
its just gorey not scary
It's more funny than scary.

Smile felt like another B movie, I got sooo drunk during the movie because I was drinking everytime something stupid/funny happened. Movie was so bad I had to bring out alcohol to enjoy it. Something I’ve never done for any horror movie.

Truth or Dare may not have been as good BUT the creepy smile thing has been DONE already! So Smile shouldn’t get all the credit for it. So however was shocked hasn’t seen other movies that did it first
I like how people genuinely think that Nope and Barbarian were good horror films.
I felt the same, Nope was a huge disappointment to me and so was Barbarian! Even Terrifier 2 wasn't as good as the original, it tried too hard to introduce other things that made zero sense.

It was an amazing year for movies in general
I just watched Nope for the first time yesterday. I am very impressed with the concepts of the film, but boy did it mess me up!
She Will is a great psychological horror film I saw over the summer. Witchcraft, secluded cabin in Scotland, and Malcolm McDowell. What more does a person need?
Wow I never heard of this one but it has Malcolm McDowell in it??
Goddamn, I gotta see it now!
There’s a Canadian horror film that came out this summer that is rumored to be the scariest movie of this year. It’s called Skinamarink, and a friend of mine highly recommends it for all horror fans
@Ozee5 I'll have to see for myself because my friends going to show it to me soon
Pretty much every horror movie in 2022 was called the scariest movie of the year. None of them were scary, or even memorable. If I had to pick good ones, then maybe Halloween Ends and The Black Phone. Yeah. Halloween Ends. I read spoilers ahead of time and knew what I was getting into, and was able to be patient with the movie. But I will say that maybe it shouldn't have been the third movie in a trilogy. Kills and Ends probably should've swapped plots. But I still liked the movie.
Disagree very disappointing flim the past ones were better
If people on tik tok recommend a movie. It’s going to be really bad

Smile was pure nightmare fuel but it was freaking fantastic!
@@tristenmoore1275 We all have our opinions.
@@tristenmoore1275 smile was pretty shitty for such a high budget horror movie. The writing was horrible, was never immersed cause the characters acted even more stupid than usually. Also the character relations didn't make sense (the sister and fiance of the protagonist have as much chemistry and trust in each other as I do with people I've known for like 5minutes)
Wow Amazing
Favorite horror movies in no particular order. Nope, smile, orphan first kill, black phone, barbarian, prey, hellraiser
I appreciate giving terrifier 2 a good spot on this list but I thought as soon as I clicked on this “I swear if smile is 10…”. I’m a horror movie fanatic and that was one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen. The jump scares went hard as hell and the movie gad me tense and uncomfortable the entire time. Absolute masterpiece
X, Pearl, Scream, Barbarian are the Horror Movies of 2022!
the black phone was so good and the ending was good
I thought Barbarian, Scream, The Black Phone and Terrifier 2 were great (haven’t seen The Menu yet) my favorite is Barbarian.
A good list am surprised that for all the deep cuts, SPEAK NO EVIL was fully neglected. Fun watch if you don't value your soul or faith in humanity.
Yeah I'm upset it didn't get mentioned
I actually like The Lair 2022, too bad it didn't make the list.
I would of included torn hearts on this list that was hidden gem for sure.
2022 was the goat of horror films. Smile was legitimately scary asf. Like it gave me the disturbing imagery that The Ring did. It scared me so bad I didn’t want anyone smiling at me 😂
Pearl is my #1 and Bodies Bodies Bodies should have been somewhere on the list not just honorable mention. But I can respect Barbarian getting the top spot
Bodies bodies bodies was retarded. It shouldn't even been an honorable mention.

Im watching “Smile” now. As soon as I saw first 10 seconds of the trailer I went and started playing the movie. I always loved movies like that. It’s so hard to find a good movie period, especially Horror. Everything seems to be amateur trash or woke garbage. Smile is really good.

I love that smile was inspired by the short horror movie The Smiling Man/The Smiling Man
I think I would've liked Barbarian more if I was so confused while watching it. I couldn't understand what was going. It was entertaining, just really confusing to me
What was confusing about it? It's an old man and his inbred daughter living in a basement. She's obsessed with making everyone her new babies.
@@Logan_93 I didn't understand who that homeless guy was and why he was still living their. I also wish that the plot was made clearer because it didn't fully click why their was an inbred woman in the basement until after I saw the movie.
I honestly am shocked that Alex Garland’s most recent movie, Men (2022), is not on this list. 😧 While it might not be quite on par with previous Garland films like Annihilation (2018) or Ex Machina (2014), it still gave us excellent performances from Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear, beautiful cinematography, and, similar to horror classics like The Babadook (2014) and Hereditary (2018), it used themes/topics like grief and loss to much effect.
Brah that movie was atrocious. The birth scene was like 8 minutes long
I feel like 2 honorable mentions should be prey and hellraiser 2022. Both were released on hulu and had a lot of expectations to overcome and I think both did it exceptionally well all things considered. Both took a overworked and over sequeled and rebooted franchises and breath new life into them allowing for the future of these franchises to actually exist again without it being another sequel/reboot.
Hellraiser was ok, it felt like an actual Hellraiser movie for a change, not just having some Hellraiser elements sprinkled in. What I didn't like is design of new Cenobites, the whole fleshy thing didn't really work for me, it made them kinda dull to look at due to being monotonous color (despite actually being detailed) and they always felt like bunch of dudes in rubber suits. The old bdms leather look was way cooler, but I guess they purposely change it to differentiate it from old series.
I also didn't like that you can become victim of Cenobites here by accident, every character except main villain became victim by accidentally stabbing or starching themselves on puzzle box's HIDDEN blade. This is complete opposite of what happens in original series and novela, you actually had to have desire to meet them, this is basically how you solve the puzzle box. (not by hands, but by desire and will)
@@njmfff I get where you're coming from I just thinking comparatively to the recent sequels/reboots this movie felt the most confident in what it was doing. I'm not saying it was perfect by all means there was definitely some mistakes here and there. The pacing for one just felt a little off but I think with just the general praise it got the criticisms could be taken and fixed in a sequel. Even if they stopped at 2 I'd be happy just to see where the story goes.
Yeah smile is definitely one of the creepiest most unsettling films I’ve ever watched really enjoyed it will probably watch it again soon
