Squeegee technique with rust and patina effect | abstract acrylic painting with the squeegee tool

- When I do abstract acrylic painting with the squeegee tool, I think about how to make layers of paint interesting. It's different in this video because I want to show you how to create rust and patina effects in the squeegee technique. I first had to buy some acrylic paints in brown because I rarely painted in browns before. But rust and patina effects use browns as well as certain shades of blue and green. In my squeegee painting, I also use the metallic color copper, which has a slightly reddish tint, unlike bronze. I paint in my own style the squeegee technique made popular by Gerhard Richter. He is one of the greatest German artists for me. In contrast to his large paintings and large squeegee tools, my canvas is of course small. I hope you have fun discovering the squeegee technique!

It’s interesting that in a society that is all about brand new & disposable, we hunger for grunge, patina, vintage, antique & rich effects like this
Perhaps it is because we know that everything is transient? And that scratches in a picture like this resemble wrinkles in a face, which is more beautiful when it is allowed to age gracefully? Even if we strive to grow older and older, but not to lose our "good" looks.
@@ingascolorart An interesting perspective. We have a very strange contradiction of wanting “perfect & untouched” yet “richly textured & full of visible history”. It’s fascinating to me that in my own lifetime society has gone from wanting brand new everything to antique. I still remember telling my Mum when I was really young that one day I’d want a house full of brand new furniture - she has always loved & collected antiques. Now I definitely appreciate the beauty in them, but also the comfort & luxury of some of the new too.

Die Techik ist toll und die Farben fantastisch!!! Aber ich frage mich bei solchen Leinwandbildern immer: Soll man die Kante außen nicht mitgestalten?
Dankeschön! Ja, bei mir wird die Kante hinterher, wenn das Bild getrocknet ist, mit gestaltet. Allerdings in einer Farbe, die zum Bild passt.

Very beautiful rust effect with loads of layers. Will definitely be trying this technique as I love the various rust effects that are created in nature with gorgeous combos of colours.

How did you prepare the canvas before you started to paint? Are you letting the paint dry before the next step?
I‘m not sure what you mean by preparing the canvas before I start. I don’t use gesso, I just paint the first layer in a color I like. You mustn’t let the paint dry between the layers, depends on what you want to achieve 🌸🎨🙋🏻♀️

Hola, no, los colores no se secan entre medias. Y sí, uso la paleta la mayor parte del tiempo para estas pinturas.

Hi Victor, I think it is a mistake in the translation, and possibly the word "Rakelwerkzeug" is not transferred appropriately. Or that the word "Rakeltechnik" can be made with different tools and here too the translation does not fit well. Sorry for this mess. 🙋🏻♀️
