The orange guy is back!
Man, you should make a video about your history with Mercedes cars. Apparently you own/owned dozens of then
How many orange he killed?
↓
"Many oranges were harmed in the making of this video"
I feel like your channel is really great and even more entertaining now that you release more frequently. Thank you for sharing your project with the world.
What a magnificent modern world we live in... Overnight delivery of auto parts to your hotel room... Doesn't get much better than that :)
So glad you guys addressed those issues and really appreciate the "road trip edit and upload" to keep us all informed! I'm guessing Peter wished he brought more dark colored tee shirts if he knew he was going to be wrenching on the tow vehicle so much :)
Looks like you guys are having a great time. Best wishes for more fun times ahead and thanks again for the uploads!

Lesson from watching this road trip: Life is all about maintenance. Neglect anything in life and it is sure to let you down when you need it the most.
Your partner is going to end up needing frequent restroom stops if he keeps eating so many oranges. Lol
Hey, who said road trips aren’t memorable? When you get back it may be time to give the “R” a Viking funeral 🔥
Can you make an orange eating tutorial?
It's so satisfying finally seeing your problem fixed!
Way to go getting this fixed on the road.
Men of the year award for you too!!!
This is one reason I believe in preventative maintenance... as soon as my E55 airbags started to leak they were replaced with Arnott’s ... Mercedes airbags are ticking time bombs. Once they start to go the pumps go too due to overworking ... sounds like the tires are ticking too ... wish you both the best of luck ... amazing you managed to do it all in the parking lot! Love all the vids!
I'm digging the on-the-road content 👍
Your video was a lot of help and I just replace minds today thanks to you guys.
All this air suspensions problems are so familiar, crappy system but great to see it fixed quickly by a master
I don't care how you eat an orange but multiple oranges in 2 videos, his name now is "The Orange Guy"
Nice job, and completed in the field so too speak.
26,5•C I'm so jelly. 0•C in here.
haha! nice! the airbag throwing contest was hilarious lol!
You guys deserve way more subscribers than you currently have
Love the video I'll be changing minds this week.
Nice video, very informative, what do those air pumps and springs set cost, and how many km aprox do they last on a R 350
I've been looking forward to this video! LOL!
Love the Reggae dub music choice for the background music.
Is your buddy handicapped. Lol hes always eating an orange and staring at the camera. You dont have to worry about him getting scurvy. Lmao .just joking nice job on the parking lot fix .Its good to have a buddy that's mechanical. Nice job .
@@peterdee9776 lol I love it .you are a funny dude .you should be on the channel more often .it looks like your good with tools too. I can only image what the two of you could build if that's all you guys had to do full time. Keep up the good work and making us laugh .lol
Now you could overhaul old compressor an use it in ASL instead AC compressor and inverter. It would probably save same weight.
Top job👍
But old air compressor in the garbage? Didn’t you want to know why and how it failed? I would have kept it at least until I’d be back home. You never know what’s gonna break on the Chinese replacement compressor. I very much hope 🤞everything stays in one piece on the rest of your journey!
Well, one thing they know is that if the Chinese one fails, they can fit a new one in 10 minutes. Once it arrives
So the air compressor was not faulty? I've also learned the hard way to troubleshooting before repairing
You should also change the air compressor relay. Sometimes an overran air compressor can damage the relay causing it to remain latched later on.
Relays fail in an open (unlatched) position, Transistors and MOSFETs fail in a closed (conductive) manner.
@@anthonygendron5648 I have seen relays fail both in latched and unlatched position. It typically happens when an airmatic pump is overran and during the next activation the relay will remain in the latched position. The contacts would arc and fuse together slightly.
@@anthonygendron5648 - I'm sure relays often fail in an open position. They also fail in a closed position. Corrosion and/or high current can weld the contacts together. Ask me how I know. I've had two fail, one burned out the secondary air injection pump on my S-class. The second one almost burned out the Airmatic pump but I caught it in time and saved the pump. Relays failing closed are known issues with these cars.
Had to change mine as well. I had noticed one day that the air compressor was staying on after locking my car, I caught it in time and replaced it.
Some Quality Content right here
Good work guys 😁👍
safe travels good thing benz drive trains are prety solid,
Great video!! Keep it up!
Hey! How was that time attack? How did the car perform? Can't wait for that next vid!
Love ur content 👊
When this dude calls u a stupid mechanic u cant argue!!
In what cases do you change just the air spring and not the whole piece?
what an amazing road trip
Boys, I love your commitment. Are there no rental workshops around in California? That dusty parking lot were a bit too much for me. And yes, all cars including aged Mercedes put out all of their faults and problems when you need them most.
did you have to cut the air line to remove the old connection?
RESPECT Guys. Thank You. ✊🤝🥂
dude, you are so *pro*!
much thanks for inspiring us.
@@ThunderGoatz nope...i don't even know what/who that is, nor am i interested. peace
Hi what does it mean if the car still doesn’t lift even after the air bags aren’t staying lifted? It will air up using an air scanner but it will lose air we test drove the car.
Do You have to take the battery post off
Didnt your E55 have rear air suspension too?
how are the oranges?
how has that pump held up?
Good job
what did the parts cost?
(the moment the crappy Merc get more interest than the racecar)
Danm this just happen to is on a road trip.. was hoping for the parts list?
Great job guys. I dont like that open bladder design as dirt and small stones gets in between layers and eventually wears holes in the rubber. My S class has the bladder protected by a boot that limits dirt ingress. Another this I do once a year is remove the desiccant gel from the pump and dry it in the oven on a tray at 80-90c. All manufacturers of cars with air suspension claim the dryer is self regenerating but I've had three cars with air suspension and thats just not true. Cheers.
Yeah, I retract my tongue argument.
I forgot how light your race car is.
4:03 why mechanics need to use torque sticks.
What books do you recommend for suspension design? I want to design full wishbone pull rod or push rod suspension and then build a chassis around it for megacar aero. A arms have a link between each arm forming an A, or filled completely etc. Wishbone has nothing in between the arms tying them together, hence the term wishbone. I wish everyone knew this but in the age of social media false definitions go far and wide so an observer doesn't know what is what. The word Looser referring to the fit of pants after a successful diet is incorrectly written in place of the correct word Loser as in the guy who lost the race. It's written incorrectly more often than correctly. Now it's being used in actual corporate PR and marketing materials occasionally, look for the spread to continue lol.
How much would the air suspension be?
damaged speed sensor cable at 5:43?
You encouraged me to change this air pump myself! Now I need to see if I have the tools, but I believe that the cost of buying them if I don't have them, will be much cheaper than the fee that a local mechanic may charge for this simple fix.
¡Keep the good work!
haha the roadkill feeling grows stronger and stronger with these ones =D
You might want to wipe down the air spring boot with aerospace 303 protectant to prevent it from dry rotting/developing cracks..
whats the brand name of the air suspension
You should not have inflated the new airbags with the car lowered on the ground position. Leave the car slightly supported off the ground with the jack and then inflate the new bags and remove jacks once it clears its height. Your way could cause premature failure.
If you put the car to the ground and then inflated the Airbags they will fail. You shouldnt do it under the full load of the car / suspension. Partially lower the jacks and inflate. Telling you this for when they break again lol
Sometimes a leak in an airbag can act like a one way valve so it intermittently closes the hole, I've also seen this with flexible rubber brake hoses where they leak when not under pressure, or sometimes when they break down inside causing the caliper to lock on because the fluid cannot get back up the hose.
love the R350. Ive replaced mine twice. LOL. Airpump too! But I love my R350.
This is why I got the r350 without the Airmatic
Bet you guys are glad to get out the hotel parking.
6mm stud, 10mm nut size.....or was it 10mm stud and 14mm nut size?
cheers from italy!!!
He's still eating the same orange
Wow a fancy but serviceable modern car
The people who said the air suspension issue was from the trailer obviously have never towed with air suspension. If you have air suspension the tow vehicle will inflate the bags more to keep itself level, and towing 3500 lbs us far less than most air suspensions are built to handle
His car is light as well so it shouldn't really be a contributor to the damage.
Nice!
We are Proud if you bro 👌🏻 no thing can stopped 🛑 you 👍🏻
These things were trash in the late 90s and still are trash today. Working on them pushed me quickly to other brands. On a side note just because the GVWR says you can tow it... doesn't mean you should.
i did not realize changing the rear air struts and compressor would be so easy on the mercedes r500
If the airbag was the issue, why replace and scrap the compressor?
actually there has to be some holding mechanism for the "airbags" at the top AND bottom ... they need to be renewed everytime the "airbags" are removed ;)
Forgive thy oranges for thy did not know what thee did.
What's with your friend and oranges? :-)
Luckily you had all of the tools too!
Hello, watch your video brought me back to life I have the same problem with my 2009 r350 Please help me with the links of the air bags, I'm going to dare to do it myself🙏🏽😭
Take advantage of the tangerine
Arnott did not warranty mine.
The oranges!!!
I've got Arnott bags in the back of my X5. I tow my race car with it all the time (And other things) and often exceed tongue weights.
Should have applied a bicycle puncture repair patch 😛
This is a funny guy 😂
Your positive attitude is weird. I would be screaming and yelling at this point I could be heard back home in Canada. ✌😁
JOHN Deerman lol that wouldn’t do anything but stress your vocal chords better just laugh it off and thank Benz for the bumpstops on the suspension
@@peterdee9776 I guess your right. I own a Audi allroad and when the bags fail the only thing that stops the car from hitting the ground is the tires hitting the wheel wells. 🙄✌😁
Agreed, but lots of this was narrated, long after the fact. I would not be shocked if there was a bit cursing involved here.
would of let you guys use the air compressor at my place
Didn't know you were from Canada.
I have also Problems with my e550 Airmatic 😤😡
I love orange😆
respekt guys ... but try find some dustbin next time :)
what's with the oranges LOL
If your still in LA you're welcome to come by my place and borrow my Star Diag computer. Also did you check the pressure release valve on the pump? The pump tends to get full of moisture after the desiccant balls inside it get full and stop being able to absorb the moisture from the air, leaving the pump full of water that could either hydro-lock it or rust out the pressure release valve where it remain open and no matter how long the pump runs it will not pump the bags up. I have an extra good working pump as well (though its for a w212, so not sure if its the same), extra pressure release valve, extra air distribution valve block and extra level sensors. PM me if you need any of them.
can i use the star computer? I've removed the air shocks but the ecu is still asking for it
@@cali_cal sure, but excluding a module as not a simple process, it's not done through the OEM Xentry portal but rather through a 3rd party "hacking" program called DTS Monaco where you HAVE to know what your doing because you can cause some serious damage if you don't .That is why most shops, even the Mercedes Indies just use an emulator module rather than programming.
CAR GETTING overnight low in a parking lot , how this happened
Damn what did we did to deserve two uploads so close together :P
right! today is a special day haha! im not complaining
early black friday for us
