Greatest clay court player of all time, the game will never be the same without him
I am quitting tennis my self tennis won't be the same. 😭
*The clay game will never be the same without him.
Greatest player*
The World's most loved and admired tennis player along with Roger and therefore, the true GOAT. It is the people who elect, not statistics which never show the true picture of reality. Rafa and Roger are elected by most people as their most loved.
@@Mars-lp8yd Rafa is more loved than Roger
Love to hear that from Rafa. Hoping he's healthy for a deep run in Rome and especially in Roland Garros!
I wonder if he's going to play at Wimbledon - cause I guess RG and Olympics (at RG courts) are in his final year the most important goals. I say final year - cause he's said "goodbye" to Barcelona and Madrid, so I guess for 95% or more this year is his final year. I don't assume that he's going to end career at Melbourne or in Indian Wells or Miami next year.
@@Introverder dont want him to play Wimbledon. Grass is toughest surface for him especially at his age ..its slipperry and he will have injuries..so he want to skip it
@@Introverder I think he said about a year ago that he was not planning to play WImbledon. Anyway when he plays Roland Garros after a few 5 set matches he will probably be had it anyway.
It’s incredible how playing no more than 30 percent of his level after months with no competitions at all, still he can compete with 15 y younger players on their prime level themselves and push their maximal level to win. That’s simply inspiring.
lechecka is like 22 , he ain t in no prime.
He’s playing a much higher level than 30%.
He wouldn’t play if we was anything less than 75% minimum
@@danielc7131 Do you honestly think that Nadal at 75% in clay can't beat Lechecka or anyone for that matter? dude he is clearly restrained in his game
💉💉💉 we all know the secret

He's such breathe of fresh air...he always makes me smile. I love you man.

King, true interview which i want to hear ❤
Rafa! You are my favorite athlete of all time and a true positive role model. I ask you to consider coming back next year on tour if your body allows it. Your tennis is still very solid , your body needs more matches and if health allows it you will be great again . Your body is the only thing that is stopping you from more greatness
WITH RAFA FOREVER!! VAMOOOOOOOS!!!
Keep Going Rafa! I like your attitude!
I Just wanna keep going....
What a man.
Thank you for everything Rafa! #Vamos
Without injuries maybe the GOAT also at numbers. Vamos❤
True, but he is still the best clay court player despite all the injuries. Nobody can take that title away from him.
Greatest clay court player no doubt, but I wouldn’t put him ahead of Novak overall. The numbers show that.
If if if.. doesn't exist
if doesn t exist.
Without injuries, there would be no Rafa, no results to speak of. His intensity and playing style was the very reason he won 22 Grand Slams and why he was injured so much. You can't decouple the two
This was a good practice for him. He came from an injury and he’s very smart not to do too much. Hope to see you in the US open😅
Vamos Rafa! You are such an inspiration. Even through all the injuries, you still keep going! Incredible!!!
Stay Strong Rafa, and do what you feel you have to do. 💃
Great Rafa! 💪❤️
Such a honest human being, you are much loved, Rafa ❤
I remember waking up early in the morning (California time) to watch the Wimbledon 2008 Finals with my mom and that will always remain the greatest sporting event I have ever witnessed. My mom would pass away from cancer just a few years later, so that match will always mean a lot to me. I still wear Nadal's 3/4 Nike pants to this day, because he made those cool to me.
I share this memory with my deceased mom too. Mom was a big Fed fan, but couldn’t help admiring this plucky young man in the capri shorts. Seeing those two fade out makes me miss her even more.
Rafa is not only an incredible athlete, but he's one of the very best role models in pro tennis. No smashing rackets, bad attitude, fake drama or arrogance. Truly a humble, amazing man! Love you Rafa!
what a great player, professional and great men, well done
Not yet enough. Vamos Rafa
One of the Greats😊
Thank you Rafa for your passion, hard work, and dedication to this game. I have enjoyed watching your games, magical top spins, unbelievable curved shots, steep angles, unmatched reach and unlimited stamina on the court.... Thank you for providing us with beautiful memories, exciting moments, and an elegant era of tennis. Stay top spinning the rest of your life with joys and happiness :)

I hope that it is not really the end. Maybe Rafa will win RG or one of the other Majors this year and based on that reconsider. But if it is goodbye, thank you Rafa.
Rafa always has the best attitude !
The King of Clay and tennis's greatest fighter: Rafa Nadal.
Have always loved Rafa he plays 100 percent in every match I will miss seeing him so making the most of this year.
Great human being ! An inspiration for people worldwide.
Just one more title before retirement!!!! VAMOS
Vamos todavía Rafa!!! hay que seguir
En mi corazón y por lógica de héroes estoy seguro que ganará Roland Garros y Olímpicos. Vamos Rafa!.
Best tennis player ever!
Luv Rafa!❤🙏
Nice interview
Glad that he sounds so upbeat and positive. Whatever his level, I hope his body holds out as long as he needs to do what he wants this year.
A great champion, always enjoy Rafa's interviews. He looks old indeed, though. I hope he has some good time in the last few tournaments of his career and stays healthy. And I'm guessing, Federer might be in the crowd, cheering for Rafa at some stage at RG.
You can argue about who the greatest ever tennis player is but there is no argument about who the greatest clay court player is. Rafa Nadal has dominated clay court championships since 2005 and has at times been unbeatable on the surface. When his retirement comes it will be an emotional day for many of us who have enjoyed watching this tennis warrior on court. We will never see his like again in my opinion. Vamos Rafa 💪
I know his tennis never left, it's the health issues he's trying to overcome making him consider this season sort of a last hurrah. I wish him the best, that he enjoys this phase in his career, and above all good health.
The legend!
Love you 🥰 Rafa
Interviewers keep wanting to retire him and get emotion, so happy he’s just looking forward
it's 'cause he himself mentions this every.god.damn.time.
@user-ll7eb9yd5d actually he doesn't mention this all the damn time. He has said he wants to keep going and living the dream so that's what he is doing.
@@ce7768 he actually does it. Also he said he's willing to die to win another trophy in Paris. Mr. healthy ambition.
@@user-ll7eb9yd5dnow say that without crying

Rafa will always be Rafa🇪🇸💫🐃
I watched him grow from a teenage tennis player into a Man, and now a husband and a father!! Always been very proud of him!!! 🎾
Roland garros has to have a center court stadium named after Nadal !
It’s ok Rafa ,it’s not the end of the world we are always here for you we love you .❤❤❤
he shouldnt retire,...he should only play the clay season in the next years if he body allowed that for 2 months. I REALLY hope and pray for that.
Nice to see he is normal, relatively healthy and calm. He won't win the RG but will definitely have a decent run. If he does, it will be the greatest miracle.
Considering Madrid is the most unsuccessful clay court for Rafa, R16 is quite good sign for him to complete at RG. (Madrid is kind of like grass court in my opinion.)
I think that he gives 50% better performance on the court than are his real abilities at this moment. Big respect.
Despite losing, it was actually a very good level for Rafa against Lehecka. If he continues this way he can have a deep run at Rome and a decent shot at RG.
his RG record will never be broken
If he wins any tournament, he won't retire soon
Exactly, he still dream to not have les grand slams than novak
I don’t know about that. If he wins Roland Garros what else could possibly be the best place and time to retire? How many players or athletes have ever gone out on top?
😂
@@jadenw-d5562 i agree with you, but he would retire being so close to Novak?
@@jadenw-d5562 Pete Sampras, Ash Barty, Flavia Penetta, Justin Henin
He is healthy. No injury. Hopefully 15 RG soon.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if he got better and could play for a few more years? 🙏
I miss you yet already!
We can see that Rafa still leaves the option of doing a "Murray", consisting of announcing retirement but finally continuning for few more years. He cannot prevent from hoping "miracle" because he still dreams to have more grand slams than Djoko
Nah, he is over that, and very clearly.
@@user-tc9fn9ux2uDoubt he’ll ever be over that. He truly hates Djoko which is why his silence when Djoko won No 23 and 24. He’d love to break his record, but can’t.
Yeah I don’t think he hangs his hat on that score. King of clay is enough. No one has ever come close. And he doesn’t hate Novak. Hating isn’t a Rafa thing.
@@sophieoshaughnessy9469 you are delusional, breaking record doesn't mean hating your rivals my friend. Why does he only mention French Open since 2 weeks. The master 500 and 2 masters 1000 are clearly training sessions and physical buildup for Roland and the following majors + olympic games. Do you think he wants to perform at Roland instead of fishing at Majorca for no reason ? The reason is the same as for the rest of his 20+ year career. Being a great champion and marking the history of tennis. How do we mark the history of tennis ? Trophies.EDIT: Sorry and apologizes for tagging you, I meant to tag @Dee-zy5gh
@@Dee-zy5gh nope, he does not hate him, but it seems you do. He stated as much, as well as Novak. They do not hate each other, they are not friends, but respect each other. Everything else is your imaginary castle of drama
So did he say hes going to retire becuase I guess i missed that
Wise people and wise champions know there is a time to come and a time to go. Ask any surfer who catches the wave and then lets go when the time is right...
The major variable in tennis is the surface of the court, nobody will ever dominate a surface (clay) like he has.
Real shame that clay and grass are on the decline, gotta keep hearing that awful squeaky sound of hard courts.
Ferwell Rafa see you when I see you
The greatest clay court player in history who also conquered hard court and grass
He's feeling better means he's gonna win French Open 2024.
One problem with that is his ranking. He can play Sinner, Alcaraz or Djoker very soon and for Nadal that's too soon, since his best tennis usually comes when the tournament progresses
QF at Rome and a deep run at RG should be the goal....
Roland Garros is the goal. All this is nice and all but RG is the goal. After that is Olympics so let's play as much as we can AND then focus on the big games. Am glad he's not done yet. This is great for us fans
It is a bit strange but he is amongst the tennis players you can bet to win at Australian Open next year. He is said to be retiring this year but I think he should keep playing the clay court season as I believe he still can produce great quality on this surface for the time to come as well. He has probably not thought about that. He should not play tournaments where he has to play several days in a row, and look at Sinner, the young guy, already having problems with his hip but he is still playing multiple tournaments in a row. Why don't the tennis organizations demand better scheduling with more days off for their players? I think Sinner is stupid and that his game might be too based on physical strengths which will lead to his body breaking down and that he will play hampered in several matches. Holger Rune is very young and cannot play many matches in a row before you see he gets some physical issues, and now Alcaraz is playing with a huge bandage. These players rush recovery periods too much and their team is responsible for it. Tennis is such a demanding sport and they can play 10.5-11 months a year and it is obvious to me that they should have at least one day off between matches and in grand slams even more I think. It is so sad that Rafa must retire. I wish he could sign up for the French Open every year till he is at least 40 years. Maybe in 15 years his male child(ren), Djokovic's male children and Federers male children will play in the ATP.
Carlos has compression not bandage.
The game hasn't been the same without Roger. Now Rafa. The era is fully ended. Nothing to miss about Novak
🤣🤡 so according to you there is no big 3 it's only federer and nadal, my goodness what a hater... novak then doesn't exist.... you are a disgrace to tennis instead of spreading hate how about we appreciate both nadal and djokovic while we still can, tennis won't ever be the same after they both retire.
Rafa chose to not defend a few shots. If it was the young Rafa, he would have dived to get those shots. But health comes first. This is only a test run for him. He didn’t let Alex win the second time.
Good observation, have the same. Rafa is a wise man.
That was very obvious in Madrid.
He wants to keep going, please don't give him unnecessary farewells yet
He can go deeper in Rome and then a really good chance for Roland Garros, but 5 sets is a different realm, he needs to play his best and try to finish in 3 sets but not all the opponents will let him finish in 3 sets, but this is not his mentality of course and he will try to prepare for 5 sets, I'm just saying this as a spectator, let's hope for the best.
Tennis will never be the same without Nadal.
0:11. I would have bet that the word he was searching for was "heebie-jeebies", but alas, the world sometimes isn't quite as wild as one might like
End of an Era, thank you for the memories Rafa. Novak will be the last man standing 😢
The goat on clay!!
Wait. Has he confirmed that he’s hanging up his racket at the French Open??
No, the oposite. He is playing at the laver cup. He also might not play the french
Rafa is very, very intelligent despite the fact being Spaniard, I think he’s got clear path to end in 2025 RG
and he will play the olympics
@@parnakdave3140His rankings isn't high enough 🤔
@@MrBjorn6 he can compete in Olympics without ranking for sure..
he will go for Rome
Do not kid yourself, he will play Rome and RG
everyone wants him to declare retirement to create a big news. Keep going Rafa!
YAWN! If you’re gonna retire, just retire. Enough already!!! Nadal only has enough gas for maybe two rounds and then he’s full of excuses. But he throws off the DRAW knowing that he can’t compete for the championship round. Go home stop tainting your legacy.
"Full of excuses"
Imagine saying this unironically for an athlete who's dominated the surface for nearly 2 decades & returned on the tennis circuit after a hiatus of 1.5 years to play at his favorite tournaments one last time.
What a gargantuan troglodyte @romanieo
So that's it. He is locked at 22 slams as he is not going far in RG like this.
HINT: Lahecka played aheck ofa match eh! brilliant serves and drop shots were too much for rafas legs, hes just not fast enough to get to the ball any more, and lahecka body shots were taking nadal by surprise, he couldnt get out of the way in time to move enough to get a decent foothold to return the body shots. Time to pass the Tennis Torch nadal, to the younger players, hang up the tournament tennis and play doubles or exhibition matches.
HINT: Rafa is obviously too smart for you. Do you really think he will play hus heart out in a master 1000 when Paris is the main goal? He always has had some problems in Madrid but still got 5 wins.
according to the atp website for madrid he got 2 wins. too smart? well hes not that smart; he got polkedup and now knows why novak didnt get it couple yrs ago when it was popular! he wont play his hrt out anywhere anymore bc hes now got hrt/Lng dmg which is not repairable, he even said so at his last IW loss, gave strong hints as to the reason bc he was not allowed to publicly state the reason. @@marithanordin920
