We're off to Goole in our 60ft Narrowboat along the Aire and Calder Navigation. We uncover the history of this famous inland port and it's Dutch heritage and take a look at some classic cars and vintage bikes up for sale in an auction next to the marina.

My mother in law told me of her recollections of her youth in Manchester..that included horse drawn omnibus and sailing ships in the harbor..the picture of the docks with the square rigger just brought back that memory...see lived through some interesting times , including 2 world wars...they really were the GREATEST GENERATION!!!.❤️🇬🇧
Great memories to share. Simple times in those days - no technology and no noisy engines! 😁👍
I think the moped that Jan said was electric was a French mobylette - petrol powered - if I remember rightly school kids could use them from around the age of 15 years.
I guessed it was some sort of petrol engine but no idea what type. Thanks for the info 👍Interesting that it was powering the front wheels.
A trip down memory lane. I've been through Goole more times than I could possibly work out, but never really stopped to explore much. Even in the 70s it had that feel of decline and decay about it which is sad. The port was already losing business. Coming from the Goole Fields side you cross over the river and the docks before turning left to head up to Boothferry Bridge. There was a time that typically you'd get caught by a bridge or two opening and/or a train or two crossing, but over time that became rare. A sign of declining activity (even it it did help speed our journey through) York is only just up the road, yet is such a different story.
I have stories of losing a wheel off a loaded sailing boat trailer just outside Goole and of a puncture on the same trailer with no spare just the other side of Goole.
Thanks for sharing your memories of Goole. You can still get caught by the bridge opening. In fact our takeaway delivery got held up for 20 minutes when he was on his way to us!
Interest town. I love how you combine the drone footage with your regular camera footage. Thanks for sharing your journeys and lifestyle on the canals. Hello from Delaware USA.
Hello Delaware 👋 and thank you for your lovely comments ❤️
Hello Jan and Tony. Thanks for the look around Goole really enjoyed the cars and bikes. I leaned to drive in a 1952 Packard mint green convertible my uncle had. The one you saw looked close to that age. You always have interesting vlogs. Thank you for all the time you spend editing, it's a long process. Take care. Janet from California.
Thank you Janet and glad you enjoyed the vlog and that it bought back some memories for you. Enjoy the rest of the weekend ❤️
Hi Jan & Tony, nice tour of the car auction. There were some real gems. Thanks for sharing your Goole adventures, great drone footage. Take care, Bryan & Donna

Great vlog!
My dad had one of those scooters. My grandma hopped on it, the throttle stuck and she crashed in the garage wall. 😮 No injuries but the scooter was toast, oh, and a hole in garage wall.
Thanks Brigid! Great story and glad your grandma was OK 👍
Fab vlog, never been to Goole, think its the name that put me off, never sounded attractive to visit, some nice history to the place but Im a bit to worn out to go now,Great drone and filming, which you made vintage in part with black & white and accompanying music,Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much 👍 Glad you enjoyed it. We'd never been before but it's an important port in the North and worthy of a visit if nothing else to marvel at some of the big cargo ships that are here.
Hi Tony and Jan excellent vlog again, i feel sorry for the people of Goole, i mean if your from Birmingham your a Brummie, but if you come from Goole your a Goolie lol, looking forward to more of your adventures.
Thanks Allan - was hoping someone mentioned this, but apparently that's what they're called!! 🤣

Hi Jan. Soooo good to hear that you are finally on the mend. What a nightmare you've been through but at least now you are over the worst. Lovelt to have seen you both again. Keep watching and see you on the cut maybe 🥰🥰
Hi there and glad to hear you're on the mend. ❤️ Both OK here, the ducks are not as friendly although they do eventually eat the food we throw them!
