Comp at 50% blend, hit-cut down, clipping up, boost set around midday on all controls and the two run in parallel is really nice. It's my new always-on sound for my DI rig. I like the Comp, it's like a DynaComp.
The voice-over cutting in and out is a bummer. I feel this could be a great, informative video, but if I'm missing half of what's being said, I lose interest.
Dude, i got terrible boosted noise. I have a 9v at 1000mamperes adaptor which should work just finebut doesnt. But I am using the amp distoortion too.Might that be it? If I put that level of drive you´re putting on yuors it gets awfully loud. I get some kinda radion noise too.Do you think it may be fawlty?
Thanks. I really likes my xotic compressor but it seems to have broken and gets interference from wireless setups. I'd probly buy another if it weren't for the interference. It was very subtle and is used it in the loop before my chorus
Your narration keeps cutting out, so we have no idea what you are saying. Can you fix it and re-submit this video for us? However, Thank you for the review. I was actually looking to see if my Compressor was broken!! Glad to see it's not.
This one. According to my local guitar store at least, who sold me this pedal when I asked that same exact question. I'm still a noob when it comes to electric playing, so don't take my word for it.
I know this video is a week old, but whatever you used to record your voice cuts in and out a lot. I'm not trying to be nit-picky whatsoever i just figured you would like to know...if this was intentional I apologize :D
Good catch. It's a post-editing issue. The line for the voice and for the guitar are separate so the mic that picks up the voice has to be cut when the guitar parts are. The trimming here wasn't as clean as it normally should be.
Masamune is Japanese. So, you're pronouncing it wrong. :) Basically, each consonant is the beginning of a new syllable, and each syllable is the same length & emphasis.
And if you say it really fast, it sounds just like what a martial arts master would be yelling at you in that split second before his sword neatly and silently sliced you into two equal halves. :-D
You can engage the two sides in various configurations, or connect it two a switcher like a Boss ES-/ES-8 with a TRS cable to automatically engage the komp, boost, or both as you select a patch. Several pedals on, plus the Masamune with one touch of one switch.
Sorry, your pronunciation of the name is incorrect. 😢 There’s no “moon” in ‘Ma Sa Mu Ne’ - “… With its name originating from one of Japan’s most famous medieval swordsmiths…” F.Y.I.
This DEMO makes no sense. Everything you play, you seem to hit the guitar as hard as you can... You play with NO Dynamics whatsoever... so how could you ever DEMO a compression pedal? I understand why you say you never use compression pedals. Maybe you shouldn't attempt to DEMO them in the first place. Just really way too many really BAD demos in CZcams.

its pronounced Mah-Sah-Moo-Nay, it's named after a famous sword.
i think its from swordsmith not a sword.
@@kibon8387 I think that him is confused with musashi
I literally knew the pronounciation because of Beybalde Metal saga xD

Seems like NUX is putting out some gems lately, maybe bring that up next podcast

I actually super like the komp side in this pedal. I love compression as an effect. Especially with single coils.
Kool sounding unit!
man whats wrong with your audio/video editing. you cut quite a lot of yourself talking too early before the guitar playing.
Everyone seems to love compression but I honestly don’t get it. Sounds better without it.

I think name is pronounced
Ma Sa Moo Nay
looks like a Japanese word to me 😀
Thanks for good review!

The boost sounds great. Not so much on the komp side
Could you do a compressor video and hold a note to actually hear the sustain?
Sounds not terrible with the dirt sound, but the clean is way too compressed imho. It's somehow squashier than a dyna comp.
Quite alot of noise added with that compressor :( the idea is great and if it was a little bit higher end I might have bought it
that tends to happen with compressors.
Nice, but I think the Keeley Aria has the edge here.
Yes. But it;s more expensive and it is comp and drive, not comp and boost. The configurations are fewer than the Masamune.
Can i use this pedal in bass guitar? :000 thx
Yes you can, I have recorded with great results

Will B the master files for this video are long gone, sorry about that.
Wow, that compressor its supper agressive....just a bit too much.
My Masamune makes a little noise. Is it normal? Maybe I need some noise gate?
compressors tend to be noisy because they make quiet sounds louder and loud sounds quieter.
@@60CycleHumcast thank you 💚
Hey Ryan what's the best compressor for country twang and surfy stuff.

I agree, I say “Nux” even though I know the truth. Fuck it, rock on!

It’s called Masa moon-eh.
New x !!!

What does the external switch control? Because the pedal has 2 effects with 2 switches and i'd need to connect the masamune to a MIDI controller.

@@mattgilbert7347 can it also switch the routing options of masamune?
