- This table has been made for my brother in law's brand new shed bar. You can call it a bar table, or a coffee table, either way this is my entry in to @dainermade #rubbishwood21 challenge. The challenge is to make something from rubbish wood, that could be about to be thrown away, burnt, or just left to rot.
I had great fun making this table, it gave me the oppertunity to make circles on a router, and to build my first table. The thing with all these projects on youtube is to learn and have fun along the way.

I once flipped over a table in an argument but I'd never do that to a bookcase... I have too much shelf respect 👍♠
Someone's been using their time during lock down to swat up on their dad jokes! 😆
Hi James,
Always great work and ideas. pleasure and recycling. good design. I loved this coffee table. ebris See you. Big greetings.
Hi Mehmet, thank you for stopping and watching this video. It was a great challenge hosted by Mark, that I very much enjoyed. 👍
@@JamesManCave You're welcome. I understand. See you anytime. I wish a nice Sunday.
Those legs look great mate - and hey - who doesn't love a complete 180 in the middle of a project!
Thanks Rob, yep, pretty unexpected turn there, but I think it worked out well in the end there! 😁👍
Now, that a great looking outdoor side table, James. Nice round top design, and what a great skip find! 😁👍
Thanks Suj, yep was pretty pleased to find that, I had salvaged a few off cuts of it the week before, but didn't expect to see that in the skip! 😆
Ah well deserved beer I would say. The legs look fantastic. The coated plywood was a great find. Well saved from the bin and as always a great video. 👍
Thanks made, that beer was that well deserved, it might have turned into 3! 😁
What a great looking table James!! Pallet wood shines once again 👍😁🇦🇺
Uncle knackers! Thanks very much! Unfortunately the British pallet wood isn't to the standard of the Australian hard wood pallets! 😭👍
@@JamesManCave Mate, you've gotta be happy with how that turned out 👍
Oh I am, but a bit of spotted gum wouldn't have gone a miss on this 😁
Big fan of the black tabletop and those legs are looking sharp 👏🏽 awesome build James 👍🏽👍🏽
Hey thanks buddy, yea as soon as I saw the plywood I knew it would well against the contrast of the legs 👍
That laminated plywood piece will certanly be able to stand the rough bar treatment with spills and cleaning, but then you added a coaster on top of it 👍👍👍 awesome, simple design, and you got to test your router circle cutting jig a few times. You could sell this as a modern, fancy coffee-table if you wanted to mate.
Hi Jesper, thanks for the great comment! That was my thinking exactly about the cleaning, might be a beer or spilt on this over time! 😁 I would really like to make one with some solid wood for legs that are a little bit thicker, maybe one for the future 🤔👍
@@JamesManCave thicker, but same design! Liked it...
Very beautiful and creative project 👍👍🤘👏🤝
Thanks, don't think it turned out to bad in the considering it was all from waste material 👍👍
Nice build mate, the angles on those legs looked a bit tricky! And that ply from a skip was a great find!
Cheers Damian, I had already salvaged a few of cuts of that ply, but when I saw they had thrown out that large sheet I couldn't believe it! 👀 So I was straight on that! 😁
Mate that looks awesome. Its shocking what people throw away😮😮
Cheers David, you wouldn't have guess timber was at a premium price at the moment if you saw the amount of wood my work are chucking out at the minute
An excellent double scrap job 👍👍👍
Hi John, thanks! Yes considering all made from items out of the bin I'm really happy 😁
Crude you say… we carpenters have been using jigs like that for eons! Price is good 👍
Pretty sure we’re related based on how you downed that beer James. My gran was the only one who could drink me under the table back in the day lol
Great table, love the leg design, looks fantastic 👍.
Hiya mate, thanks, thought I'd try something different for the legs, always see the join becoming part of the taper of legs on similar tables, so thought this way it might give it an extra dimension 👍
Mate I really like this it looks awesome bud. The giant coaster is a brilliant idea 💡👌👏
Haha cheers mate, I just had to fit that pallet wood circle in somewhere after spending all that time on it 😆
Great video james, honest too as usual. loved the angle of the legs.... thanks!
Thanks David, thought I'd try something different with the legs, wasn't sure how it was going to look, but quite happy myself 👍
I like the leg design, and the brand!... I could even steal it... literally :P
Thanks James! Well that would be a fair old trip just to steal this bit of scrap ply, would be much easier to make your own! 😋
@@JamesManCave I was talking about the brand... but in the current market almost worth the trip for the ply :P
@@FixitFingers Ahh yes, so you were. I shouldn't reply after just waking up from a night shift, everything is a bit blurry still! 🤣
Coffee table looks wonderful. Nicely done, sir.
Thanks very much buddy, the table has been put to good use in the new shed bar 👍
Fantastic video and table James, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Alistair, was a rush to get it finished in time 👍
Can't believe I missed your video in the playlist. Really loved the angular design of the legs on this one, and I'm jealous that you've got my dream router.
Oh, and glad you're drinking Birra Moretti and not Fosters!!!! 😂😂😂
Haha, thanks! Not sure who actually drinks fosters these days! I only bought that router about 2 weeks ago as I'm going to be installing a new kitchen in my house soon, so bought it for the work tops, but thought this a great opportunity to try it out! 😁
That's dead fancy that!
Thanks Chris 👍
Nice little build James looks great 👍
Thanks Warren buddy 👍
Bloody fine piece of bar furniture is that bro
Hiya mate, thanks. Hopefully the brother will like it when I deliver it 👍
Not so rubbish, excellent work m8!
Haha! Thanks, quite happy with it myself 👍
Hello, it was a pleasant video, congratulations, I wish you continued success
Hi buddy, thanks very much, and thanks for commenting 🤘
Nicely done, looks great!
That's my sanding face as well... 😅
Cheers buddy. Normally I'm not to bothered by sanding, but it was a nice sunny day, and I could have been doing much better things then sanding 😆
@@JamesManCave At least you could do it outside! 😅
Great job James, really nice video too 👍
Thanks Keith, had to rush the edit to get this one out by the deadline
Brilliant looking table Mate, Next in rubbishwood challenge we make a push stick for the table saw 🔨👍😉
Thanks Tony, hmmm what a waste of wood that would be! 😁😉
@@JamesManCave 1-2-3-4-5 1-2-3-4-Oh ooops 🍺👍🤔😁
Looks great mate! that form ply always looks good!
Thanks Grant, funny you should call it form ply, because when I Google that here in the UK nothing comes up about it. But pretty happy with how it came out 🤘
@@JamesManCave haha that's funny, I only know it as that from Dirk and the other Aussies talking about it🤣🤣
It’s always great to have “good wood” eh?
Another great upload James. Been missing your stuff. Have you been preoccupied with work?
Love everything you upload.
Cheers.
Haha, yes 'good wood' is always a bonus! Thanks David, good to hear from you again. My uploads this year have been a bit quiet, a little bit of work yes, but currently having a lot of work done to my house. In the middle of building a a kitchen, so my workshop is full with a kitchen that I need to install before I can do anything else. Once the kitchen is finished then I should return to much more regular uploads 👍
@@JamesManCave can’t wait buddy!!
Excellent salvage on the scrap wood, and how's that dumpster plywood score! 👌🏽
Great build, mate, I think your brother is going to be quite chuffed with this little beauty!👍🏽
Hey Bill, thanks. I've not given it to him yet, so hopefully he will like it. I was over the moon to find that plywood, finds like that don't happen very often for me!
Tidy job!
Thank Andy
very nice
Thanks Jim 👍
Love the end result 🍺🍻 & then we move onto the project mate lol, indeed that top looks like the formply we have here but I love you angular work & that’s never as easy as it seems 🧐😜😎.
Be safe James 👍👍👍👍👍🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺
I may have also finished those other 2 bottles afterwards also! 🤭🍻🍻 Thanks Dirk, the ply is smooth one side, but rippled/bumpy on the other side, we use it around machines on the floor to cover gaps. The angles did take a little to get to look right, but a bit of trial and error and it took no time to sort! Cheers 🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺👍👍
good
Thanks 👍
Very nice indeed James, I almost vomited when you necked that Newcastle brown ale🤮
Don't know what beer you had been drinking to think that, I had a nice glass of birra moreti there 😁
@@JamesManCave haha I'm blind as a bat lol thought it was Newcastle brown 😂🤣
I've got to get a plainer/thicknesser.
Can highly recommend the ferrex one 👍
So, you took the "fancy, rubbish wood" table for a test run! It seems to be working fine, and the black and ply combined make it stand out really nicely, plus those sexy legs! One important thing, when you are doing some belt sanding a la Mark Dainer, you must do the slide otherwise it's just plain, old sanding! Nice one!
Oh noooo! I forgot the slide!!!! I'll have to practice it and see if I can use it in another video! Thanks, yep as soon as I saw that plywood I knew it would work well with the legs, plus it will be much easier to clean if someone should spill there beer on it! 😁
Fancy legs, fancy table! 😀
First time someone has said that about my legs 🙄
@@JamesManCave All three of them 😂
@@MrGeoffreySmith 🤣🤣🤣
Quality video mate 👌 those legs are mint 👍
Thanks very much buddy, thought I'd have a go at a different design for the legs on this one 👍
@@JamesManCave did more than have a go, crushed it man !
