  • It's been a while since we've uploaded a video! We have a lot of exciting news coming including a rebrand (formerly "AudiSportMike" now "Acceler8"), a new studio space and plenty of more car reviews coming.
In the meantime, enjoy this review of the all new 2020 Atlas Cross Sport. Mike gives his first impressions and thoughts on how the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport stacks up to something like an Audi Q8 and other vehicles in this segment.
A big thanks to Dalmar Motors for lending us this vehicle to review

I initially intended to get the RR Evoque, but was struggling with the (lack of) leg room for my "passengers". My head turned when I first saw this beauty sitting in a Panda Express parking lot. Went to the dealership. Sat in the back seat. That became the deal breaker for me. The rest is history!!! I just purchased the V6 SEL R-Line. No regrets!! LOVE IT!!!😍🙃

great review! I switched from a Q5 just 2 weeks ago to this exact car (same color and everything) and I am sooo glad that I did. I was convinced I would get a new Q5 when my lease was up, but I was pretty underwhelmed. Decided to test drive and I was blown away. Drives great, super spacious inside, and it's got all the bells and whistles. Great option for growing families or chicks who go to Costco a lot LOL.

A great review, just bought the 2022 highline 2.0 t . It’s great so far , the power is good and the mileage is good too. People complaining about the power are nuts . It’s not a sports car by any means and Vw doesn’t claim it to be . Although there are software alone updates to be done when warranty is up that will make huge gains in power . Happy driving people 😎

I had purchased a 2022 which had problems with the start stop system so got traded in for the 2023 cross sport r line Sel with v6. Super nice and smooth. Best handling in the segment for the price out of the suvs I test drove. Takes regular gas too! Sweet ride but a bit expensive plus insurance in Florida is a killer on new cars. Thinking of downgrading in a year, :(

Driving a 2018 Tiguan right now. My main complain is the kind of bumping feeling over slightly uneven road. Don’t know if that’s so-called sporty feeling. Wondering if atlas is way more stable in that sense.

Great review! Beautiful and solid car. Feels more premium in my opinion than a regular Audi Q5. Since they are the same company, the majority of parts will be the same (especially the blinker sound). The 2.0T verison has great tuning potential, and is actually quicker than the V6. The Audi Q5 for example is actually built in Mexico😀 The engine and platform are German parts. Other parts are the same between the brands. BMW X5/X6/X7 are assembled in the US, just like the Volvo S60.

Very watchable video, as usual you have the best cinematography Mike. If now we're looking at Volkswagens , how about breaking down their practicality? Am I going to save on maintenance? what is the track record on durability? I like the nod to storage, switch gear, and roominess; but how badly does that roof line affect cargo capacity? Not a criticism to the content. Just looking for a couple more minutes. And I have to add, those streets and lots are empty!

Needed an SUV to haul my dogs around in - didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted something dependable with space for them. Personally, the plastic and the rubber is a good point. I have a jag xk - so if I want the luxury and speed - I've got that. Wasn't much on the market that I really liked the look of - but every time I saw a VW SUV - I really liked them. So giving this year and model a go. Thanks for the review

About 275 hp with the VR6. Too bad they don't have a modest W8. 40-50hp more would feel really "right". That said, though, compared to the V6 Acadia which has about 300hp, IMHO the Atlas Cross Sport feels nicer to drive. It just feels more ready to go at low to mid rpms. The GM is probably quicker on paper but the VW just feels more sorted out.

I'm really impressed with your video quality and color tones. It's pleasure to watch.
If you would have to choose between Grand Cherokee and atlas sport which one would you go for? ( In regards to trims let's say up to $50,000 i know jeep could be little more to match).

I think vw America is super confused right now. The r line Tiguan has led lights all around the suv, this only has it on the rear and not front when it comes to turn signals. I’m 31 and would lease this next but for $51k this has too much interior plastic🤦🏼‍♂️. Also it lacks the auto hold function, almost every car suv has it but vw and Audi hold back on it. I saw a model For $51k and it’s just too much. If you’re gna charge that much it needs be parallel to the European Touareg on the inside quality..

I disagree. That snow mode probably makes very little difference and will give people a false sense of security. Instead of putting on proper snow tires, they'll just use their normal all seasons. Worse yet, they will drive way too fast in the snow and end up in accidents. That's all that mode selector will do for people. This ain't no Rangie, and even those need proper snow tires. But this is a nice sporty SUV. They will sell tons with the economy on the backfoot.

I test drove this car this past weekend and it handled great very smooth ride and great feel behind the wheel, but there are two major drawbacks that will prevent me from even considering it. First the roof line is way too low when getting into the car, the seat must be put all the way down in order for a 5 foot 10 person to get in without hitting his head and to make things worse Volkswagen did not give the seats easy in easy out activation meaning they do not lower automatically when you turn the car off. So basically you need to adjust the sea every time you get in and out, without re-adjusting the seat, I could not get out of the car and that is also a major safety issue how is this ever passed safety is beyond me. In a SUV I like to ride with the seat high, is that not the point of a SUV. The second issue is with the digital cockpit Display, why they would put eight point type in something you need to see clearly is beyond believe. It is incredibly difficult to read illumination at maximum is barely readable. Two major flaws makes this a no go for me.

@@ACCELER8TV My thoughts on the new 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport after trading in my 2017 VW Touareg.
Likes of the Cross Sport…... Exterior design, interior room front and rear seating area, roomy cargo area, digital cockpit, android auto, apple car play, infotainment system and updated features, safety features, panoramic sun roof, memory seat, auto folding mirrors, descent fuel economy in eco mode, but need to keep speed at 65 and below.
Dis-likes of the Cross Sport…... Ride quality is not up to par to my 2017 Touareg, Dismal fuel economy (in class) when in normal mode, small fuel tank at 17 gal compared to my 25 gal tank in the Touareg, interior quality isn’t the greatest, but I do understand these days we need to pay a premium to receive top notch quality, VR6 needs more torque for such a large and heavy vehicle, lane keep assist does not keep you centered in your lane, but bounces you from line to line which is a bit nerve wracking, auto/start feature when at a stop engages 75% of the time, drive selector always bounces back to Drive(D) after you turn off the engine which I would prefer it to stay at the setting which was set previously.
Over-all I do like the Cross Sport some are dis-likes some are annoyances which I might be just nitpicking.
I’m comparing two VW’s I owned back to back which would of course be different from other manufacturers and models.
These are my personal likes, dislikes, and annoyances others may have different opinions which makes us all unique.

being German, can someone please explain, why you need or want remote start? i dont know one single car that is being sold with remote start here in Germany...
ps: I'd love to see the Atlas with an diesel engine, but i guess that will never happen. also: why do you give the Atlas so little towing capacity? its bigger than the Touareg, yet you can tow less with the Atlas...makes no sense to me!!

It's great for the winter when you want your car to be warm inside when you enter. Most cars will start the heated seats and warm the car up with remote start. Fairly certain it's due to environmental regulations in Europe why you don't have remote start.
