  • To-yoko Kids is a term that refers to a group of boys and girls who are dressed in unique fashion called “landmine style” and gather around “Shinjuku Toho Building”, which is known for Godzilla objects. A corner of Kabukicho, commonly known as "Toh Yoko". Teens who say "I don't have a place to belong" gather here. There have been a series of incidents of drug ingestion, suicide, and injuries resulting in death by young people who dress and act strangely, and although the police are strengthening their countermeasures, incidents and troubles involving children continue. Tachinbo and another darkness are the Toyoko Kids.

most of them meet at To-yoko only on weekends and go back to their parents' homes during the week. Some are really homeless because of neglect, but most of them are just like hipsters who are just admiring Toyoko kids through social media. Not that serious

So much of alt and street fashion come from subcultures that usually look just like this. Community built off struggle, survival, with a growing culture and fashion amongst it. From Black streetwear, punks, the dolls, and s3x workers, people love the authentic look of these styles in their natural element but ignore the history behind the culture in favor of watering it down.
These are kids/teens who are homeless, addicted and selling their bodies. Do they have style? Sure, but so did every homeless youth in the ballroom scene of New York. There's so many commenters with their "Japan is a perfect wonderland" glasses on that they even boast about how pleasant and clean these kids' struggle is. Y'all get lost in the "glamour" of the street life and forget that they're kids with nowhere to be but the sidewalk. As if as long as you're wearing leg warmers and a nice fit, it's "not so bad."
