[To-Yoko Kids] The darkness of Shinjuku Kabukicho.

- To-yoko Kids is a term that refers to a group of boys and girls who are dressed in unique fashion called “landmine style” and gather around “Shinjuku Toho Building”, which is known for Godzilla objects. A corner of Kabukicho, commonly known as "Toh Yoko". Teens who say "I don't have a place to belong" gather here. There have been a series of incidents of drug ingestion, suicide, and injuries resulting in death by young people who dress and act strangely, and although the police are strengthening their countermeasures, incidents and troubles involving children continue. Tachinbo and another darkness are the Toyoko Kids.

>These kids were rejected or pressured by their own parents
most of them meet at To-yoko only on weekends and go back to their parents' homes during the week. Some are really homeless because of neglect, but most of them are just like hipsters who are just admiring Toyoko kids through social media. Not that serious
SOURCE I live near Shinjuku
@@user-qm7jw no, some of them just ran away cuz they disagreed with their parents. some of htem just go out because they also just like the style and are kinda rebellious teens and stuff who enjoy it lol
So much of alt and street fashion come from subcultures that usually look just like this. Community built off struggle, survival, with a growing culture and fashion amongst it. From Black streetwear, punks, the dolls, and s3x workers, people love the authentic look of these styles in their natural element but ignore the history behind the culture in favor of watering it down.
These are kids/teens who are homeless, addicted and selling their bodies. Do they have style? Sure, but so did every homeless youth in the ballroom scene of New York. There's so many commenters with their "Japan is a perfect wonderland" glasses on that they even boast about how pleasant and clean these kids' struggle is. Y'all get lost in the "glamour" of the street life and forget that they're kids with nowhere to be but the sidewalk. As if as long as you're wearing leg warmers and a nice fit, it's "not so bad."

I would really recommend people do some research on the Toyoko Kids, while visually the fashion and aesthetic of this is cool to look at, it's quite sad these kids situations. Some of these children fall into really dark holes
that's right. 🌸🍀 It's the darkness of Japan. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙇♀️
these generations in japan are hopeless and it will get much worse the girls nowadays dont value themself
Displaced homeless kids is tragic
It makes you feel we're doing something wrong as a society. It completely breaks your heart.
This. Tbh the comments on this vid are quite irritating - talking Abt this situation as if it was a nice thing js because the kids are well dressed.
There are "strange" youngsters everywhere but compared to other cities these look quite tame. I bet they don't beg, threaten or harrass people.
Thank you for your comments and for watching. 🌸🍀✨
Oh you’d be wrong 💀
till there's a moment were they are at less obliged

The feeling of being lost or not belonging exists in many cultures around the world. The most common similarity is the lack of alternatives and the advertisement that attracts young people. I'm guessing a social space would cost a huge amount of money over there and so the lower income miss out.

landmine fashion is not just a toyoko kids thing. many "normal" people dress in this style as well

This is a common sight in Japan. Even if you drop your wallet, it may be returned to the police box. Thank you very much for watching 😊
In the West? You mean America?
That's an exaggeration.
People with manners do exist in the West.
What? I dropped my things at a grocery store in a big Canadian city and like 5 people rushed to pick my stuff up. This is hardly a Japanese thing
Only in americanised countries, not the whole west
I think this is interesting, although quite sad and horrible. This is a side you don't see or hear often about Japan, so I think it's nice to see this in such a genuine way.

Conversar? Kabukicho é uma zona de prostituição. A conversa ali é outra. E esses jovens são os Toyoto Kids.
