- Hello guys! In this video im making a wooden infinity mineshaft style coffee table. Costs well under £100 to make and a fairly enjoyable build.
1 way mirror film

I don't ask for anything and enjoy creating fun things and sharing it with you all! However if you're feeling generous and would like to buy me a coffee then here's my link

For the lamp, if you had cut it in half and pressed it right up against the mirror, you could have doubled the depth effect by making the lamp appear to repeat half as often.
The light was the only thing I disliked...so half a light mounted against the mirror at the bottom would create half the repetition?
@@kornfed81 Yes, exactly. Though he would of course have half the space to fit a bulb inside, so the electronics would probably need to be modified too.
Genius.
there would still be a noticable borderline cutting across the lamp, you can kinda see the 'sections' where the mirror starts in the video with the different shades. to ease the gap we could install the lamp horizontally.
@@bi_zha Take the cage bit from the discarded half, maybe sand it down a bit and throw it where it touches the glass. Might be able to hide the seam by pretending it is part of the fixture.
you need this in the corner of the room with one level with the floor, and another one in the ceiling, with a ladder on the wall in-between the two. That way it looks like a infinite shaft going up and down that you can access!
You sir are a genious
YES
The perfect next step (excuse the pun). Good thinking.
Even just having it inset level with the floor with an open trapdoor over it would be pretty cool.
This is how you get into the backrooms
That's by far the best infinity mirror idea I've ever seen, extremely cool!
I think this is the best possible implementation of an infinity mirror. Very inspiring.
I'd love to hide an underground entrance this way, it's perfect.
"Oh it looks like a mine shaft, ha har!" ->Slides table to reveal mine shaft. -> :0
A similar idea would be a train tunnel for a kids room . Mounted vertically on the wall.
i think of this table everyday
I'm glad this showed up in my recommended list. Such an awesome project. Going to make this myself. Can finally have my "secret underground bunker".
Build a hatch cover over this shaft and you are done. Maybe add a sign saying "do not enter".
@@gorillaau that's not a bad idea. Hinged on the top, with a trigger to turn the LED on when opened. Rigged up to a LED controller to add a flicker once in while.
@@_Ganjatobi There you go. Perhaps a padlock, inadvertently left unlocked.
Oh, the possibilities here.
Some genius commenters here. Nice ideas!
“I definitely need to buy more clamps…” said every woodworker ever.
🤣🤣 oh yes !
I often make my own.
Haha thats true
@@andrewallason4530 I'll have to make some soon 👍got too many projects and a new puppy 😎
That is indeed very true
An idea: Put a small speaker inside and occasionally make it sound like some miners are banging around "down there."
A phenomena that has always fascinated me as a child sitting in a barber chair, you know, 2 large mirrors facing each other, you sitting at an angle and there it was. 🤔Still amazes me to this day.
I love this project. Really good idea having a mineshaft. With regard to the router, you could have made your own fence for it. Thin piece of hardboard screwed to the base with the shiny side down and then fix a small strip of wood to one side to give you the size gap you need.
I'm definitely going to build one of these. I worked in a gold mine in my 20s. It didn't look like this but it's still super cool.
Great project. As an alternative to routing the top mirror rebate on the almost finished table, you could have easily created the rebate on your table saw at the cutting stage. This would be quicker, easier and provide razor sharp edges if done carefully. Thanks for posting.
who has the audacity to dislike this amazing creation
Only people who are either jealous, or they can't do it and it makes them envious of others so much, that they get jealous of others. I think them kind of people do stuff like that, or they think they are better than others. Who wouldn't like infinity anything?
Boris Johnson
🤣🤣
They just don't want to get shafted 🤷♂️

I love the idea and what would be great is to make a round stone well version for the garden ! 👍👍
Or a horizontal Mineshaft with minecart tracks 🙂
I've never seen one of these before, I am very inspired by your design and will most definitely be incorporating it into one of my furniture projects!!
Great video. I like that you include the problem solving portions of the build. I run into this thought process on all projects and it is part of what I enjoy most. Thanks for the info!
Excellent project ! Excellent effects and results ! This is definitely on my list of “to build” ! Good video- a brilliant Thumbs Up !
That's fan-bloody-tastic, would love one of these!
When I was a kid my dad made something, and to create an aging effect, he burned the wood surface with a gas torch and following h the grain, using a stiff wire brush, brushed the charred surface. Blackened and gouged, it had a patina that wasn’t attractive and new looking.
Something that might be worth trying. As it is, this is brilliant. I didn’t know how an infinity mirror was made was a cool thing to learn about.
Brent at Ghost town living would be all over this cool box.
I appreciate the direct, immediate doing of the thing, with a minimum of unrelated discourse, self-promotion, etc. you don't waste our time. Well done.
thanks for the idea! infinity mirror coffee table just went on my to do list! A round stone well would be really cool with this technique!
For the fence, 2 options, cut a piece of scrap that you can clamp to the side of your piece and run the flat side of your trim router along (you would need to cut out a negative space for this piece) .. or make a new plate out of plywood for your router and screw it on. Then Brad nail a fence onto the bottom of it.
Very cool project. To solve the router problem at the end, you could use your table saw to dado the notch at the beginning prior to assembly.
What a great idea and it’s turned out brilliant ! 👍
Very creative, I just purchased an LED Infinity coffee table which brought me here seeking inspiration for what’s possible, or what others have done within this type of illusionary aspect to everyday furniture through modern concepts and contemporary design. As ever I am continually blown away by how hobbyists and practitioners of a certain craft push the domain past that of what is mass produced by corporate outfits, even making the process seem oddly achievable for the rest of us despite the obvious, or before that little contentious voice reminds us that the last time we faced a woodwork project was decades ago in middle school, with mixed results! Inspiring all the same which is what’s most important and optimal notwithstanding optimistic, and so I appreciate the sharing of your craftsmanship and project should you see this. Many thanks from an infinite novice in woodwork with grandiose ideas.
Thank you very much for your kind words! Something like this is completely doable.. im just an idiot in a shed im no professional if you can make a box with a mirror and a one way mirror you're sorted! Give it a go! Whats the worse that could happen...
A friend recommend this video. She knows I have a great appreciation for wood working! She sat with me as I watched the video. She patiently waited without spoiling the end. Throughout the video, I'm commenting on how Wiz embodies the qualities she used to describe him. The end result appears on screen and I lose my mind! Magnificent work, Wiz. Thank you, Tig.
Thank you this means a lot
this is absolutely amazing! WOW! Please more of that kind!!!
Lots of fun. I would cover it with a black top, then tell visitors you have an entrance into an old bomb shelter. they laugh, and you tell them to remove the black top and look. they are shocked, then you say "no just kidding, grab the other side of that hatch.." and you both move it and show them.
Your decision making skills remind me of me. It's like watching me woodwork. I appreciate how much detail you leave in on this front.
Brilliant. I love how you worked out a method to get the result you wanted with what you had at hand.
Beautiful creation! I can't wait to build myself!
Reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of the old cartoon "Dungeons and Dragons" where the heroes got a treasure chest that, when opened, would lead to one of many places when you went inside. Cool project!
I remember that episode, I still have it in a VHS tape that I recorded from the TV on Satuday mornings cartoons, loved the Shadow Demon back then.
Wow! That's trippy! The ladder that never ever ends.
Easily one of the coolest applications of the infinity mirror idea, bravo!
Amazing. Using the 2 way mirror for an infinity effect is genius.
I enjoyed this video and I can totally relate to the tool deficit.
The imperfect reflection of the mirrors really works well to add to the distance effect. Well done.
Brilliant optical illusion great job
Excellent
Tip. If short on clamps, use a straight timber to cover the entire distance then distribute your clamps evenly throughout
i used to work in a glass factory ! With short angle you can make this piece even subtler
LOVE. This. What a great idea. Turned out really well thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. 👍👍
Thank you :)
You are absolutely genuine and about as real as it gets brother. Thanks for the build, the ideas and the video. I'm definitely gonna turn one of these out here in the big Country of Texas....lol...
Incredibly clever idea and excellent execution. Well done.
Really cool design! Imagine building an entire floor like this.
Thats looks BRILLIANT well done! I used to make similar things YEARS ago when I was on the road as a DJ an 'infinity light box' very big in the 80's! always baffles many people who kept looking around the back of the boxes 😅🤣😂🤣😅👍
Finally a good use of the infinity mirror thing, not just dumb LED strips. Awesome
Excellent job on the build! If you're not happy with the edging around the glass top, you could get some picture frame trim and build a frame to conceal the seam between the glass and the "ladder shaft".
I absolutely love this
Great idea, and beautiful result!
Great piece! For the top routing you could tack thin strips and then use a flush router bit. Been there.
That is sooooo cooool to install this on a boat.👍👍👍
When routing on the edge, you could always fasten something to the underside of the router base to give you the correct stand off distance. Just a bit of scrap mdf wound do it. Another option is running the table saw blade part depth before the glue up to achieve the same thing - however this would go end to end of the wood, and therefore you'd have to joint the corners at 45 degrees. The wood commonly used for scaffold boards does expand and contract well in humid environments as I've found out from making bar counter tops.
this is a good Idea, I would have taken the amount of the plate of the router hanging over the box 25mm or whatever it is ripped the corner off a scrap board this depth, clamped that to the outside box now you have a fence.
loved it. very inspiring.
That my friend is amazingly good, Im definitely going to be making my own as soon as I get time. Definitely treat yourself to a grooving bit for the router mate, that will make your life easier 😊 when you where making the wood stain as was just about to write use tea bags and then you mentioned it☕😂 I always use old tea bags to age wood works great and smells better then rotten metal 😂 once again mate excellent.
Thanks man.. ahh grooving bits!! I knew there was an easier way.... mind was blank!

How much money is it?
That is bloody awesome.
Never seen anything like that before.
Well done.
Looks good. Few things are as satisfying as creating something amazing from mundane pieces
Holy crap dude, this is incredible! I want one so badly.
Black tea does the work or even coffee. I dyed my son's mummy bandage costume with those and it worked a treat.
Love it. Rather simple. Lots of possibilities to modify the motif.
Omg. I am speechless. This is amazing. What a cool idea beautifully executed.
love the switch shortcut
Brilliant idea
Great Illusion
That's really cool! I loved it! ❤
Very cool.
But woodworkers tend to by hyper-self-critical of the most minor of imperfections.
An infinity mirror is probably a woodworker's definition of... Hell.
But for the rest of us, this is AMAZING!
THANK YOU! Remember, when the customer tells you, you did well... believe them!
means a lot... its crazy how you can build a huge desk or something but you know theres one little issue no one can see and you hate the whole project
Thanks for this top- notch video. My wife & I are looking forward to seeing more.
When putting the tint or 2 way mirror on there, don’t be afraid to spray soapy water on it to make it easier for the squeegee to run along it to get the bubbles out. They will also help to get scratches all over it.
First time I learned this trick it blew my mind, it would never occur to me to use soapy water to help me stick something down!
Do you mean between the tint and the glass (as the other comment here seems to imply) or on top where you run the squeegee (as you seem to imply)?
Between tint and the glass
Both actually. Between the glass and tint will help you get it where you want it. Also on the tint so that when you push out bubbles, it wont scratch. Don’t be scared to use ALOT. It is easy to wipe up. With all the houses and cars that I have tinted I have only wished I had used more, never less.
Stairway (ladder) to heaven? Oh wait, it goes down, moving along... Nicely done, I now have you to thank for putting yet one more project on my bucket list.
Looks like someone was playing minecraft and then suddenly just apeared in you room so cool
I love it, so much!! And your guest star, 😍🔥🔥
So awesome, amazing work wiz
That's brilliant! Love it. Definitely a project for me. Living in a 250yr old house, I'm pretty sure there IS a shaft down to the local fudge mine that I'm just about to discover!!
That's one of the coolest projects that I've seen.
Great job!
Now this is how you impress and entertain your coffee guests.
Very nice. Now I know how to build a miniature structure with an interior that goes on forever.
Fantastic work!
This is absolutely brilliant.
Hi wiz ... Oh wow just wow wow absolutely love this project ... Amazing ... Simply amazing ... I'd just love one ... Great workmanship ...
A stunning idea, executed as much by hope as skill. Worked a treat, didn't it?
You may have been ill (been there), but you're firing on all 12 cylinders again now. It takes a while but trust me, there's better to come.
Other good stuff coming? Can't wait...
A genuine and MASSIVE thankyou for this.
Like me, lots of people seeing ways they could use your ideas for their own (different) projects. I believe that's called sythesis - the highest form of learning.
So, in my book at least, you are now Professor Wiz.
That is brilliant thanks for sharing
Great job!
That is the coolest coffee table I've ever seen.
A brilliant idea. Well done.
Super nice project!
The algorithm chose you to recommend when it spied on me and heard me talking about infinity mirrors! Congrats!
This is my kinda table~! Love it.
I'm sure I'm probably repeating someone way further down the comment list but using apple cider vinegar makes a huge difference. Left for about five days then run through a coffee filter it makes a stain that turns pine into a rich reddish antique brown and oak a really nice black that with a top finish looks great.
Awesome work and very good effect.. Two things really:
1. The bottom mirror should have the mirror-layer (aluminium-vapoured onto the glass)) at the top of the glass, although a bit harder to find, this would improve the effect mainly the continuing of the ladder, now there are some seperations at the glass.
2. The conduit-bracket should be cut in half to improve the effect as well, fixing it tightly to the bottom mirror.
This is sick looking I have a gaming PC and the case has a infinity mirror in the front it really does look like magic and looks like I can stick my arm half way inside the PC case.
Fantastic build
If you use a front surface mirror it will eliminate the small gap you see where things meet the glass of the mirror in the bottom. Looks great keep up the good work!
I want that table! It's awesome.
coolest thing i seen in years furniture wise .... great stuff mate
I'd love to see this revisited with some of the commenters' ideas implemented. This is a really cool project! Thanks for sharing! (Subbed and liked :D)
I love that looks great well done !
Fantastic, love it
GREAT JOB , LOVE IT
