Incredible respect to Mochy. This interview shows his great character and humility. I am a big fan of both Sander and Mochy. They have very different styles and I love them both. The UBC Final 2022 is one of the best backgammon events that has ever been televised on CZcams.
I have learned a lot from Mochy and he has great passion for the game. I look forward to learning more from him! Thank you Mochy!

great interview! Thanks for the transparent answers, Mochy! You are gracious in defeat and a phenomenal player! The fact that you didn't bring your best stuff to the UBC final won't change my opinion of you as a player. I am really exhited to hear that you will be contending in Istanbul, and the fact that you will be there only adds to the prestige of the event, and it also makes it more attractive for me to try my luck!

Hi, I think that what you describe as a 'lack of sharpness' could be a measure of the strength of Mochy's opponent. Maybe Sander''s level of play was simply giving Mochy so many difficult decisions to make.

It was a fantastic match and one to be proud of by both players - congratulations to both Mochy and Sander!! And agreed with comment below - watch out Sander as Mochy is coming back to reclaim the UBC title! You are always a winner to me Mochy 🙂

Though I did not have a clear favorite in this great match. I found myself pulling for Mochy for 2 reasons. First, I tend to pull for the champion (when I have no clear favorite) due to it taking more to be one...anyone can be an underdog.
Second, I felt Mochy conducted himself in a more respectful manner worthy of this venue & Sander less so. imho

You could be right. But I don’t think so. Hideaki is super strong, can beat anybody.
Thanks for the very entertaining match Mochy. In the interview you seem very down on your performance. That's understandable because you have played better in the past. But I think it is worth noting that the difference in PRs between you and Sander in the end was not that extreme at all - 3.06 vs 2.80.
Dirk was your best performance and the best performance by anyone with 2.11 vs 3.33. Against Ueda you played a 2.719 vs his 2.594. And against Sander the first time you played 3.17 vs 3.69 (excluding match 10).
Much of the variation in PRs over time has to be down to luck - whether one happens to choose the right move, or to get the most difficult decisions. So there's only so bad you should feel!

Nice to hear from Mochy. Mediocre interview questions (Mochy was super gracious though, lots of class). The interviewer was/is clearly not an experienced interviewer at all (nor does seem he prepared well for the interview). You don't have to list questions: "Here's question 1; here's question 2.,..." Sounds so "stiff". Try to make it more conversational. It was a nice effort to approach the former champion and hear his thoughts. The interview certainly needed more preparation. How about more specific game questions like decisions in a certain game that he thought were good or bad for him. Mochy started the final very poorly, then he made a remarkable come-back. To what does he attribute this? "Are you disappointed after losing?" Really? No, he's very happy, come on! Open-ended questions, not "Yes-No" questions. .l Etc. Anyway, didn't learn much from the interview except what Mochy volunteered without being asked. He's a terrific champion and surely we will hear more from him (BTW, Sander is also a great champion; to defeat all the challengers to even reach the final again is quite the achievement and great preparation).

I was quite looking forward to the post match interview, and while I appreciate the work Hossein does, I don't think his style is fit for interviewing necessarily. Was there not a plan for a post match interview directly after the final?
Time management, Mochy. Even Thursday in NY, you were down to 6 or 7 minutes left before you even scored a point in the match. It’s your only real weakness.
To be fair, Sander was lower on time than Mochy for much of the UBC.
@@mackenzieusher8025 I think Mochy would be the first to admit that he is very poor on time management. So far in NY, he has been low on time in two matches that I’ve watched. He was under 30 seconds left in round 2 and would have had at least 2 more games left if he hadn’t lost.

You are right. I noticed but If I dont try to pay attention I come back to my old habit. This is what it is. The difference between Sander and me is he can play without time and I cant. So no point of comparing just for the time difference.
Carlsen is getting bored with chess because of the lack of players of his class... Thanks god you’re not bored with backgammon !

I appreciate this content but I am pretty bummed about the thumbnail. I have been slowly going through and watching the UBC but haven’t had the chance to finish it yet. Now I know the outcome. I was trying my best to not read anything about the results.
