Budapest - Part 2: Metro, HÉV & cogwheel railway | 4K

The first subway line was opened in Budapest in 1896 - today's M1, which captivates with historic train stations and idiosyncratic vehicles. In the course of time, more lines built according to the Soviet model were added - up to the latest line M4, which is operated fully automatically.
The HÉV suburban rail system impresses with iconic green trains from GDR production and the cogwheel train (line 60 of the tram network) leads up to the Buda Mountains and to the children's railway.

The cars of metro m3 weren’t actually modernized, that’s just what people say. They were completely new as modernizing them would have been a nightmare.

Toll! =) Die Zahnradbahn ist ja interessant. Habe das Prinzip noch nicht verstanden, erst gedacht, sie wird vom Zahnrad gezogen, aber dann gesehen dass sie ja Strom aus einer Oberleitung bezieht. Daher verstehe ich das Zahnrad nicht... Ist doch unnötig? Kann mir das höchstens wegen dem Höhenunterschied vorstellen. Muss mich da mal reinlesen. Hast aber Interesse geweckt. Like habe ich natürlich dagelassen, abonniert bist du ja schon lang ;)

Danke! Das Zahnrad sorgt für den Antrieb. Bei "normalen" Bahnen würden ab einer gewissen Steigung die Räder durchdrehen.

HÉV network has more vehicle type. MIX/A the predecessor of MXA and runs on H7 HÉV and the MXA/K is the MXA HÉV witch modernised at 2015 and only 1 small unit, “kisegység” runs on H5 HÉV and we called “SzuperHÉV”.
