It is easy in one respect, the pronunciation of the letters is very consistent, so you don't need to guess, how certain combination of letters is pronounced when you have learned how each letter is pronounced in Finnish. The grammatical cases, on the other hand...
ITS difficult because its different from almost all languages (except Estonian and some other small languages). but as a language in general it’s not difficult at all, bilingual babies often learn Finnish first.

I have been learning Finnish because I like Finnish shows, movies, and music. It is a hard language, but I love it. The way it sounds and letter combinations are just addictive to me. I have been surprised to find that I have immediately been able to apply it when watching movies and such. My first time listening to this song I was able to pull out words and phrases. I love languages and suggest trying new ones for music you connect to.

Finnish is AMAZING when you learn it well, the way it bends and twists and is SO funny and SO beautiful! It is fabulous written and sung.
But it is a b*tch to learn. Truly. It is my third language (or second, kinda tied with english to be fair) and the only reason I learned it was that I lived somewhere where I heard it daily, and I couldn't choose the language of programs on the TV so finnish it was! My kids don't have that, and watching them try to learn this mess or a grammatical soup is heartbreaking, and I can't help because I learned it by ear...........
As a finnish person I felt so bad about Finland being robbed at ESC 2023 (and he was robbed), but the fact he is maintaining his influence makes me happy.

Also, for context, Käärijä has talked in interviews about how he was in a very low place during covid. He lost gigs, lost his jobs and his girlfriend left him.
He said that the lowest point was when he left a mean comment for another artist. He got up from the computer and started crying. That was when he realized he needed help.
Käärijä was almost the only thing on radio when Cha Cha Cha dropped, but normally Finland is known as the metal headquarter of the world having most metal bands per capita, other Nordics following close. Melodic death metal is especially good.

And what comes to the hate comments in the video, I don't know if they really need translating. Like they boys here guessed, "clown and one hit wonder" for Käärijä, and then some run of the mill misogyny and bodyshaming towards Erika. Actually most of the comments seem to be towards Erika, which is also not surprising (not because of Erika, but because of how women are treated in media).

Erica Vikman was the one who changed the UMK to really find some new and crazy. With her song Cicciolina. She once submitted a song to UMK (and Eurovision) a 80s dance synth-pop about Cicciolina which was a very famous porn star that became elected as a European Deputy for Italy. I don't know if I've already said this, but as a big Eurovision fan, it's so much fun to watch you guys watch these videos. I love that you are so open and attentive when you watch, and even though you might be coming at this with not much (but growing!) knowledge of the show or the artists, your instincts are great (yes, dancers appear out of nowhere; yes, there are a lot of key changes; yes, Finns make a lot of metal/rock...). You also notice a lot of details about the songs, the camerawork, the stage, etc. I noticed that especially in the recent Sergey Lazarev and Conchita videos. Learning Finnish is tough!!! We have 15 cases so the words change depending on what you say. The pronunciation is relatively easy once you understand it (everything is pronounced the way the word is written, like every letter, and there are only very small exceptions). But the grammar 😰! Even the word 'no' changes depending on the situation.
finnish is one of the hardest languages to learn for an english speaker😅 As a finnish person english was really easy for me but after 7 years of learning swedish for example I still can't speak swedish😭
