Although, in this case I'll say that Simon's 'opinion' can't really be right or wrong since it's not an opinion, it's a fact that he can't stand the singing. Now, the reason why he can't stand the singing is probably based on his opinions of bad and good singing and therefore, if the contestants are really not that bad to deserve an X, Simon is wrong. (P.S. English is not my native language.)

Iâm not saying your wrong but there different sides on this topic and males definitely have both like Jan his Head voice sounds louder and stronger, and it's suitable for musical genres that demand the higher notes to be in louder dynamics. On the other hand, falsetto is more adequate when high notes are required to be executed in softer dynamics like someone like Sam smith but Many women will use both ranges all the time both singing and in normal speech and are hardly aware of the small jump in tension to the different parts of their voice.
It'sMeJeremiah itâs not a matter of softer or louder. Both males and females can belt, which is what Jan is doing. Most broadway singers belt for volume but some men, especially ones with longer vocal tracts can sing falsetto loudly such as Sam Smith. Come back to this convo when you get a degree in music or become a vocal coach.

The judges are in on many of the magic acts, they have preshow practice full runs. And also you missed that in the second rounds, we see all of the acts they see. We just don't see the full acts.
