- In light of the recent massive drama around a train derailed for CZcams views, I thought it was the perfect time to milk the situation and finally show you the one time I saw a train derail on camera, lol.

I can remember my dad driving us out to see the aftermath of a passenger train derailment near Forteviot, Scotland in 1982. It hit a tractor on a farm crossing. A little bit less underwhelming than this one, but I didn't see it happen!

summer of 2023, i came through a grade crossing and saw them re-railing a car
at 65 never saw a derailment. but did chase the WP F units into stockton to see some damage from a truck.
back then one could geti to the yards PAVD roads not in the yard proper. and it was no problem as long as we stayed away from and not touched things.
long lens on a chem cam were great. pre computers.
That engineer got some reflexes

when I was about 4-5 I saw at least 10 or 12 covered hoppers on their side near a factory where I live

I've been waiting for this moment for months and it's finally here!
My husband witnessed a train derailment north of Saskatoon 5 years. He was working delivering windows and he had to stop at a train crossing. It was a grain hopper train. He noticed something looked weird when it began to derail. It happened on a major road too so that was fun. He couldn't turn around easily because he was in a large truck. It took him like 20 minutes to get turned around.

I got stuck at the crossing on Messier a while back, and the short GWWD was backing into their yard. A worker was walking across a flat deck as it rolled over the crossing. My dashcam caught it but I might've deleted it by now. I'm no railfan, nor a CZcamsr.
That was just luck that you caught that derailment. Unlike some other Railfan. Nice video. 👍
Great job on the video and I hope you see Chip again very soon and no, I don’t think you caused the derailment. I think it’s borderline impossible that you did because I saw the crewmember looking over the switch and they would’ve definitely noticed if it was misaligned or anything like that.

Only time i see a derailment was I Was At the station wih my aunt waiting for our train some rookie engneer decide to sunt a car and it goes horribly go wrong one of these covered hopper car manage to derail it slef and it skit thru the track for 1.5cms before another boge dersil and halt the entire locomotive
